  • I enjoy watching the slow motion in this video also.

  • That thing with the beer bottle is fricken awsome.

  • That things with the beer bottle is fricken amazing!

  • Sensei teaches directly from the Densho & demands his students learn & faithfully transmit the same. The curriculum of the GiYu dojo includes concepts that seem to be from other arts. In this, we try to understand our own art. Manaka Sensei encouraged Sukh Sensei to study other arts, to polish his character. We polish our character by keeping true to the Densho and training in tactical response to many situations & tools. In this way we aspire to be true warriors. We aspire to be true citizens

  • ok, this reminds me of what happened to a friend of mine, back about 8 years ago in the Genbukan, Joe Svarel, left the org to create Shinken Bujutsu, because he felt the org has lost its true fighting spirit, expanded to much, plotics, etc. gi Yu Dojo seems interesting. I read the resignation letter, can anyone tell me more on why he left the Jinenkan. Reason I ask is it seems parralel.

  • Just goes to show that belts don't do nothin but hold your pants-up!

  • Very Cool! Training is classical but alive and y'all have an open mind by incorporating firearms and modern training methodology as well. A True Warrior learns from everything and anything. Isn't that the way it should be to keep an art alive?

"Something New From Something Old" as Manaka Sensei says. Keep learning!

  • The way to 'keep an art alive' isn't to add modern ideas or change things, Jayesan. I suppose you think the way to keep Beethoven's music alive is to play it on electric guitars. The way to keep Takamatsu-den arts alive is to faithfully practice them exactly according to the kata. Gun defence and karate chops have nothing to do with Takamatsu or Manaka.

  • Slapupchrist,

If that is the case, then you should also tell Hatsumi Sensei "the heir apparent" the same thing. I have been to the Hombu and he teaches different uses with the gun.

He even wrote a book about "Pistol and Knife Fighting". Manaka Sensei was photographed in the book.

All three major Takamatsuden organizations focus on usedefenses against firearms because Ninja's also used them in Japan's history. You should do more research before making such blatantly uninformed comments.

  • Why on earth are you practicing with modern firearms? What has that got to do with traditional Japanese martial arts? And what about those karate punches and kicks? I thought Sukh Sandhu was trained by Manaka of the Jinenkan. Manaka teaches Takamatsu-den. I'm confused by this.

  • Awesome footage! The slow-motion is great for seeing the precision!
