The underlying purpose for US military presence in Afgh is to actively safeguard the US homeland from the Taliban orchestrating another 9/11. Since 9/11 there has not been another attack, all thanks to successful US military disruption of Taliban groups. Pulling out will foster another catastrophic attack as they will easily re-group and actively attack the US and other nations alike. Furthermore, the Afghan people, civilians, are being killed by the Taliban, US is helping citizens, not taliban
