@qwikxr Helllo, sorry for the delayed response, the upper ball joint acts as a floating king pin if you will.
If it did not float the steering would bind when you tighten down the lower ball joint. On the old style axles there was an adjustable insert that you would use to adjust the load on the upper ball joint, with this style you do not need to manually adjust the preload on the ball joint.
why does the new upper ball joint move in/out?
