I did read somewhere (And I really wish I could remember the source) that there was going to be a 10th Anniversary release on DVD. Hopefully it will be the original series with subs. My friends and I refer to this as being "allergic to cats" because of an infamous episode of dubbed Sailor Moon where Makoto mentions her parents are "Allergic to cats". Maybe 4Kid$ wanted to uphold the tradition.

More likely the scene was cut for time, so more commercials could be shown. Nothing nefarious, I am sure (aside from "More commercials").
