Lol.... Funny video and all but I think the essense of survivalism is a bit different. Its if everything goes down, we're prepared to continue on anyway. I've become a survivalist for different reasons, I've been dirt poor and have been at risk of being homeles for half a year now and am coming closer and closer to it.

Most of the people fleeing the cities would probably run out of fuel due to traffic jams and be stuck on the highways or rounded up by military and put in stadiums even the people that would make it to the countryside and try to take what they wanted would be shot be locals

The more people in a given area the sooner they exhaust their resources. By the time they decide to take action their physical condition has deteriorated significantly. Survivalists are usually located in sparsely populated areas and have lots of resources. They have the advantage of planning and preparing. The hungry hoards from the city don't really have much of a chance.

In every instance of a catastrophy, the masses stayed inplace waiting for aid to arrive. They wait until it is almost too late. People who are mentally and logistically prepared (so they think) for a catastrophic event. You will die of thirst before you can get to where I will be. Yea there may be water on the way but bad water will kill you faster than no water. 15 to 20 miles per day is a hard walk for most, I'm over 2 weeks away from mobs.

Yes there are people out there like this , but I also think that whatever happens not everyone is still going to be alive. Denial and unpreparedness will kill a lot of the populaton off before they can even get to far out to the hills. Anyone who lives in the southwest could be dead in a matter of days just from lack of clean drinking water.

Yeah, a little over the top perhaps. But it's essential that everyone's plans account for the unprepared masses. Better if at least your neighbors aren't among the unprepared, so spread the word to them. Organize trips to costco to get the best economies of scale and force everyone to lay at least a few things in store. Establish communications and emergency response expectations among the group. Every bit helps.

I'd say it's likely that a post collapse world that many have prepared for, can't be prepared for. Either it will be far more ugly than any prepper could possibly have imagined, or may pull a complete surprise in that for the first time in a long long long time, humanity groups together to look after each other as 'people'.
