  • No es Cecilia Bartoli la cantante ?

  • Astonishing. Sound of a tear

  • listen to your partner singing Händel under the shower - prizeless!

  • What language is this?

  • @wwwyoutubbbecom Italian

  • @FuzzyCerts

it isn't italian but a fictional language ....

  • @JaxDH

    are you on drugs haha?

    its italian.

  • the movie and the song are magnificent, loved every part of each, and i think it was a great idea to use it ase a pro/epilogue

  • Te iubesc Mihaela enorm:*

  • I watched this movie with my boyfriend and was so disturbed by it. But when I heard this song...I had no idea what the words were saying but I knew it was so sorrowful, it hurt me to listen to it. I searched for it all over the internet because I didn't know the name of the song. I love this song. It is the most emotional song I have ever heard, and I cry every time I hear it because the despair can be felt like a knife in your heart.

  • Impressive

  • When I watched this with my friends...well...for make a short story..we are all traumatized by the begining....

  • Let me weep

    my cruel fate,

and let me sigh for liberty.

    May sorrow break these chains

Of my sufferings, for pity's sake.

    Lascia ch'io pianga

    mia cruda sorte,

    e che sospiri la libertà.

    Il duolo infranga queste ritorte

de' miei martiri sol per pietà.

  • Classic is so underrated :ß

  • Me encanta escucharla una y otra vez. Mi amor espero la disfrutes tanto como yo. besos. ByD.

  • Beautiful song. Interesting movie. I don't regret watching the movie. And yes. I did watch it with my father, but we're two grown men and had a lil bit of a debate about the film at the conclusion. Lars VT rocks. Even if not everyone likes him.

  • Beautiful voice, but really awesome is THE great alfa & omega. Christ,

    be with us.

  • This song with a close-up look of Willem Dafoe penis was intense...

  • @APSkou

    especially the close up :D

  • more music of this genre please

  • @godyoker

Check the rest of the videos on my channel - loads of videos of Tuva singing Händel :)

  • English translation:

    Let me weep

    my cruel fate,

and let me sigh for liberty.

    May sorrow break these chains

Of my sufferings, for pity's sake.

  • Absolutely beautiful song. Although I'll never admit it to anyone who knows me, the movie wasn't half bad either.

  • @AllThingsGruesome you need to change your friends and acquaintances. Or you need to present yourself more truthfully. Good luck.

  • Maravilhoso!

  • making love to a tree stump

  • I'm Danish.

Me and Lars Von Trier is from the same country. Go get em' Lars, make me proud!

  • funny how people comment and question the movie's purposes or ideas, and no one relates it to this music or its lyrics.

i don't have any basis to support this, but i really got the feeling that the movie is entirely based on the music's words. imo it's all about dealing with loss and pain and finding our way out that forest of grief.

  • @jonwings I think it has to do with the fact that his wife watched the child fall from the window knowing she could have stopped the event, the figures at the end of the movie represented the haunted women that had wronged themselves and others and were still blaming men for all their troubles...at least that is what I got out of the entire shebang..

  • @cinnful1 when she sees her child climb the table implies self guilt but not to be taken literally, in the opening scene there is no line of sight from where they are to the table. She does hideous things, but she's also the victim, he takes her away from treatment and medication to the place that she fears the most, and drives her crazy. The whole film is about how women are subdued to male culture and how they end up believing their impositions. google up "Visual theology of Lars Von Trier".

  • @josecastromora

Correct, she knew that the child was waking up at nights so a deeper part of herself was really kind of watching the child climb up thus the self guilt.

  • @josecastromora best explanation of this film I've heard yet. I've heard nothing but the opposite from 'critics' and online movie reviewers, that Lars is a chauvinist living out his ideals in the film. Couldn't have been more wrong.

  • Beautiful and perfectly attuned to the emotion of aria. I only wish Tuva had not allowed herself to be assolciated with this film. A pity to Handel she did.

  • Fucking great man..... Fucking great!!!

  • beautiful !!!!(the music but not the movie)

  • I didnt really understand much part of this film, but the opening scene is one of the most beautiful scenes that I've ever seen..

  • @zorka333336 First time i saw the penetration i thought "WTF??"

  • @zorka333336 I must agree. But I am not sure about the word "beautifull". Maybe powerfull or intensive could be the right word - the first scene totally messed my emotions. I had to stop watching for a few minutes. The combination of Handel godly music with an ultimate tragedy in this scene is simply perfect. The rest of the film is not bad, but only half as good as the leading scene.

  • I have to keep going back to that film, there are so many great sequences of just Willem Dafoe standing amidst snow falling or acorns and it is so beautiful.

  • What is the song about?

  • @the1sic

translated is more or less like this:

    Let me weep

    over my cruel fate

    And sigh for (my lost)

    freedom

May the pain shatter the chains

Of my torments just out of mercy

Of my torments just out of mercy

  • Lascia ch'io painga

    La cruda sorte

    E che sospiri

    La liberta!

    Il duolo infranga

    Queste ritorte

    De' miei martiri

    Sol per pieta

  • Epic beginning to any film i've ever seen

  • I watched the film but have to say I wasn't impressed, apart from the opening sequence with this wonderful music

  • I watched this with my mother and my brother without knowing about the... epic intro. Oh well...

    Epic OST, epic Willem Dafoe.

  • When I've seen this, within the prologue and everything, in black and white, with slow motion, I almost cried.

    Simply wonderful.

  • Love the song. Regret watching this movie with my dad!! We were not exactly prepared for all the...well...intimacy:)

  • @jpeopolis Lol, can imagine!

  • @jpeopolis Wow thanks go I wasn't the only one, becuase I watched it with my dad too. lol

  • @jpeopolis Understood! Quite Shocking!

  • @jpeopolis lol yeah that sounds like it would uncomfortable

  • @jpeopolis You don't have to regret for watching this chef-d'oeuvre along with your dad. This movie is the edge of art. And this movie is not a third rate smut.

  • @jpeopolis Lol I almost watched it with my dad too, so glad I didn't lmao. That would have been so akward lol.

  • @jpeopolis

that can be interpretated in a very wrong way.. ;)

  • The movie is fucking amazing. A lot of symbology, thought provoking philosophy, amazing camera work, and solid acting.

If Lars Von Trier wasn't such a stuck up prick I would say he's one of the better directors who ever lived.

  • @qiovanni i just think some scenes ahould be cut. thats the kind of film i like to watch, but i just cant watch this with these scenes. good movie , they shoulda make a PG14 , without those scenes where HE and SHE make love, masturbate, mutilate Her vagina.

    resPect

  • @houston8ank lol it would become a short film :P

  • @qiovanni i just think some scenes ahould be cut. thats the kind of film i like to watch, but i just cant watch this with these scenes. good movie , they shoulda make a PG14 , without those scenes where HE and SHE make love, masturbate, mutilate Her vagina.

love anTichrisT , without that much sex scenes

    respect

  • @houston8ank If they did cut "those" scenes then the movie would not be as it is. What you are saying is the equivalent of: "I did not like the middle parts of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. He should have removed those parts and then I would love that piece of music."

  • the movie was disgusting. shocking. y the hell does SHE cuts her clitoris ??? and why does HE ejaculates blood ???

  • @houston8ank

she does that because she relates sex with her uncontrollable behaviour I guess, sex is related with aggressiveness.

he ejaculates blood because she knocked his penis with a wood chop.

  • @houston8ank he ejacuates blood because he got his balls hit by a stick if you remeber

  • Antichrist made me love this track.

  • Thumbs up if you beat your wife to this song!

  • One of the best openings to a film. Lars Von Trier is a genius, an artist, and an extreme visionary. Thank god Criterion took it on their hands to make an unforgettable experience of immense quality. This piece perfectly compliments the scene, and is as beautiful as the film itself. At least there are still a few directors out there that truly appreciate the art of film.

All i have to say is anyone who dislikes this film either cannot stomach it, or has absolutely no appreciation for cinema.

  • Anyone care to tell me what this movie was about and why all the sexual violence? I totally didn't get it!

  • @randicj It's an inverse of the Adam and Eve creation story. It is primarily starring one male and one female, you only see their faces in the entire movie. It's funny the woods where they stay is called Eden because in God's Eden, everything is beautiful and made out of God's divinity, and in this Eden it shows a much more evil side to nature. Like Eve who was seduced by the snake, the woman is seduced by the idea that women are evil and she internalizes it. A fantastic film, was beautiful

  • @reidstuff92 very well put. i completely agree.

  • If I keep listening to it, I won't finish the revolution.

Kudos if you know what I'm talking about.

  • amazing!!!

  • Simply a beautiful aria, and this film, with all of it's gritty, haunting beauty, will stay with me for a long time.

  • One of the most underrated films in history. This masterpiece deserves so much more.

  • I absolutely adore this song. Antichrist is a disturbing film, but also damn beautiful.

  • To Lisa, and all of her Awesomeness!! :)

  • my friend cried after getting home from seeing this movie. not for the lighthearted, beautiful cinematography...suppppeerrrr graphic

  • There is a reason, why this movie is part of my collection ;)

  • Every time I listen to this song I see the green goblin having crazy sex lolol.

  • @goonodeath LMAO! This movie made me so uncomfortable.

  • Can anybody explain to me what is so smart and deep about this movie? I just found it weird, disgusting and without any deeper meaning.

    Nice music though ^^

  • @Incizor1 see novalisnovalis comment. that does explain it really well.

  • @Incizor1 It's a mood piece about inner despair. If you look past the four torture parts, you'll find a eerily beautiful, and completely logically insane movie.

  • Let me weep over my cruel fate,

And that I long for freedom!

(my bad transaltion of the repeating verse)

Aren't these verses what the whole movie is about?

  • @novalisnovalis Indeed they are. Mr Trier made an excellent choice

  • wonderful.

    so still and clear

  • Aww... Reminds me of that delicate scene where Charlotte Gainsbourg cuts off her own clitoris. Touching.

  • @Clorwall

Aw yeah. Very touching. But him ejaculating blood after she crushes his balls touched me more.

  • @Clorwall

I almost looked away during that.Disgusting

  • @neos9898 Are you kidding? It turned me on as hell

  • @Clorwall

Don't get me wrong, I love Guros, but that scene traumatised me for the rest of my life....

  • @marshall9doom

Where are you living? The daily news are worse.

  • Lars von Trier è un genio!! Handel pure!!

  • great song, the movie was okay, a bit strange but i enjoyed it, this song brang it toghether

  • i cry evrytime i hear this song

and the film is so wonderfull but so terrible

even the first scene when the baby die, its so horrible i was crying when i saw the movie for the first time

  • This movie was pretty fucked up, not gonna lie. But those are the best kind =)

  • the movie is beautiful

    it is aesthetic

  • A true piece of art.

    Bravo

  • Is this available to buy?

  • @probe99 It's available for sale from Criterion starting on Tuesday.

  • @AngelofMusic04

    Thanks for that. :-)

  • wonderful music i love it!

    senseless movie ....

  • It's originally from a Handel opera - Rinaldo. Hard to believe it was from as far back as 1711. It's a brilliant Handel piece and Tuva sings and interprets it better than anyone. I've listened to Katherine Jenkins and Hayley Westenra sing this and they just don't produce the sharp spine tingling sense of sadness needed to interpret this work. Tuva is superb.

  • this song whats its origin

  • the most beautiful piece iv ever heard..love that I 6-4 suspension chord at the end of the piece..

  • this movie is the most beautiful yet disgusting thing i've ever seen in my life

  • I AM THE ANTICHRIST!

  • I'M THE ANTICHRIST!

  • petarda...

  • love the opening scene of this movie.

  • The best movie. BRAVO MAESTRO

  • struggente, delusione gioia e tristezza perfetta per il film

  • I absolutely love this song

  • Film magistrale, uno di quelli che fanno il Cinema.

  • One of the best moment ever made in any motion picture.

  • @toyamac 100% agree

  • perfect

    trier is a genious

  • she sings it better than Cecilia Bartoli, isn't she?

  • beautiful. i just watched the movie, and it was just fantastic. specially the cinematography, just exquisite. thanks for uploading this.

  • i loved this song when i saw the movie. incredibly deep and full of power as well

  • I'm sure there was some sort of meaning to the film, but (anti)christ sake, why did it have to be so fucking slow getting about to the whole point of the film. It was all just so... boring. I lost interest long before it became interesting.

    The song is great though!

  • @Slotfan1 What's wrong with taking a little time once in a while? From my experience, the things I enjoy most afterwards take the longest to accomplish. Why would anyone read Ulysses, or listen to Wagner's Ring and sit through hours and hours of challenging material? Because it pays off.

  • martin johannesen ball

  • this song seems kinda sad to me, i dont know if it because of the opening that makes me feel that way but ye, this song just makes me sad....

amazing film also ppl shudd watch " DANS MA PEAU. "

  • @majinkaori

the title means "let me cry", so...

  • @majinkaori the piece is sad because the lyrics are sad. The lyrics translated to English are:

    Let me weep

    my cruel fate,

and let me sigh for liberty.

    May sorrow break these chains

Of my sufferings, for pity's sake.

  • orrible movie, wonderfull aria

  • one of greatest opening sequence in decades!

  • This is Epic...

  • ItalianEnglish Lascia ch'io pianga mia cruda sorte, e che sospiri la libertà. Il duolo infranga queste ritorte de' miei martiri sol per pietà. Let me weep my cruel fate, and let me sigh for liberty. May sorrow break these chains Of my sufferings, for pity's sake. Source:Wikipedia
  • love this movie.

  • What a perfect song... I can't believe the beauty of this song sometimes...

  • This movie is art! Everyone who likes good movies should watch this.

  • Fucking excellent movie. People were dead wrong in their reviews. Not even misogynistic as people said- all that shit was on the surface. Nobody dug deeper.

  • @detectivesoap I would love to hear your thoughts on the movie. I watched it, I read reviews, I read about the symbolism, etc, etc, and I'm still not a fan, even though I thought it was well made and well acted. Perhaps I need to understand it better. I'm open to any enlightenment you can provide.

  • @detectivesoap True.Idiots that were suppose to look with an open heart and eye fucked up and walked out. This movie and the juxtiposition between sex,Death, love and hate was intense. You have to watch it a few times and think, critically.Lars Von Triers is just genius and insane but gifted and everyone should see this about primal nature

  • @detectivesoap Yeah "Fucking" excellent.

  • @detectivesoap I like to quote what John Waters said about this film:

“If Ingmar Bergman had committed suicide, gone to hell, and come back to earth to direct an exploitation/art film for drive-ins, Antichrist is the movie he would have made.”–John Waters

This has to be one of the greatest, and one of the most beautifully shot films of the decade, bar none.

  • @detectivesoap

I couldn´ say it better. This Movie is just amazing

  • kadane how can you be happy at your funeral. when this song is played at your funeral, you´ll be dead...

  • @Sjuske4ever in the afterlife he will be happy, and i dont inted to start chaos of religious terror but even if you are atheist or not there is an afterlife, although the existance of life is a highly overrated phenomenon, it is inevitable

  • @enginetai

    watch?v=guXCIlsaHh8

  • @enginetai if you say so....then it MUST be true. the tragedy here is that this is all there is and if you are literally and/or figuratively screwed over, then that's that. don't tell someone who's getting chopped up with a machete or burned alive that "there's an afterlife". Again, if YOU say so, then it must be true. Religion is a blindfold for those too frightened by reality to look it straight in it's gutwrenching face.

  • when this will be played at my funeral i will be happy.

  • Chaos reigns...

  • When the fox said it I was stunned - it is probably the most original thing I have ever seen in a movie -

  • You must have never seen a movie before.

  • beautiful music. the prologue was beautiful and the scenes in the forest, even the end, but the movie is graphically disturbing.

did i ask to see a porn film? no

  • Leave me to weep over my cruel fate

And let me sigh for liberty

May sorrow break the bonds of my anguish

    If only for pity's sake

  • Beautiful soundtrack. Shit film

  • @MaxcalderB We are all entitled to our opinion. Even you.

  • Intense Aria for an intense film

  • The film and also the music choice is great! It's a very very personal film, only those who are like the artist will understand the meaning behind.

  • my friends mom works with this guy and. so when my friend turned 18 years old we was having a party in this huge place itch wen lalter founded out was lars von triers office

  • Depressed evil people?

  • Luv this classic one. About film too bloody but really beauty.....

I stop to watched when her mastribution him then ejaculated with blod....too scary !!!!!

  • I have been looking for this song since I heard it. Thank you so much for posting it!

I thought this movie was one of the best films I've ever seen.

  • Brava Tuva!!!!

    your venetian pianist

    Roberta

  • this movie is an absolute cult !!! everything is perfect, plus, u dont really understand the message of the movie, it is good to reconcile that there was not one... but I enjoyed it, and still enjoy, Antichrist is in my blood...

  • Thanks dude! Never thought of that :)

    Best, Sandemose

  • well, i don´t think there is a completely and utterly clear and unique interpretation, as you say it. or can you say for yourself, that you met van Trier and he told you everything he intended...?

  • if you actaully read the satanic bible , you'll know that satanism is centered around nature. it is the impersonal dark force of nature.

  • "A crying woman is a scheming woman."
