@mrrodpatrick1 The Beatles are the most popular band of the early/mid 60's, but they didn't own it. Not even close.
The 60's was when electric black and white blues was at it's peak, it was when the bands that would influence every other genre to come after were forming.
To say that the Beatles owned the 60's is one of the most ignorant things that could be said.
The ORIGINAL version is a big band swing tune by Tiny Bradshaw's band...RECORDED IN 1951. Your BEST is YOUR OPINION, but JB and the RRT did rock the hell out of the song. Certainly the best ROCK version for it's austerity, power and purity...but Bradshaw's original is should not be discounted. It's great, too.
Can I get a Witness Shiftyeyes516. I have their two disc set from Rhino Records and I have their music on my IPOD. These guys really knew their stuff and Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck & Eric Clapton's Contributions still exist to this day.
Nothing left from what made the original so great. And all these pseudo harmonica players should have stopped doing that crappy stuff after hearing what Butterfield could do.
for a guy with just one lung he can sure belt them out and go for it on that harmonica, a lot of people dont realise if it wasnt for the yardbirds some of the worlds biggest artists, bands, musicians would probally never existed 10/10
The Yardbirds led to Led Zeppelin. Zeppelin influenced pretty much every band ever since 1969.
The Yardbirds led to the Bluesbreakers featuring Eric Clapton, which led to Cream, which influence most blues rock to come after it.
The Yardbirds led to The Jeff Beck Group and Beck solo. They've influenced every fusion group/instrumental guitarist ever.
The Yardbirds sure did a lot.

Great post.
Should be in the Library of Congress.
But until then, on YouTube. :-)
Especially since the Republicans will soon be defunding the Library of Congress.
Jeff Beck on guitar.
Never have seen him on video.
Thank you for the post.
Love,
Brian

This is the original lineup, with Paul Samwell-Smith on bass, I'd guess from late 1965. that's right, 45 years ago.

Blow Up. Michelangelo Antognioni. Do you remember?

96stepson, I agree. Aerosmith doubled the time and ramped it up with more bluesy vocals, guitar & drums. Tyler didn't use his harmonica though.
