@RANDYSWELLBURG have you ever been to ireland? We have a lot of infrastructure and industry. Ireland was a great example in some ways of a mixed economy, we had plenty of state investment in infrastructure. Unfortunately no one did anything about the property bubble, and about unregulated markets and banks.
You obviously haven't got a clue about what's going on with this bullshit of 'ireland deserved what they got'.
There are plenty of us that were never happy about what happened
Has anyone noticed that any good Us president has been of irish Descent? Like Jfk he actually cared about his people and got killed for protecting them.Thats irish tribal insticnts for yeah we protect our own.And President kennedy saw the US as his tribe.
Im Irish and i know quite alot about the financial problems in the USA. I will be honest, when the EU's problems just came out in the media, i thought "The USA will bail them out" then when i seen that USA was in the financial shitter thats when i begun to panic, i think everyone in Europe has been so use now of USA being the worlds economic powerhouse, with relatively few problems. Whatever happens, we just have to go through the hard times working and fighting.
@CrazyIrishDrunk1 I am not an irishman, but I live in ireland since 2008 and there's one thing I gotta tell right here: Irish people still haven't learned that it was their own fault, apart from the wankin bankers. Someone who makes 1500 Euro/Month cannot seriously believe that he would be able to pay back a loan of 250k from his wedges. Irish people still blame the EU, USA or some random other country for what has happened to them, but they only have themself to blame
@sin13377 oh, i agree with you there 100% but lets be honest, what kind of bank would give a £250,000 mortgage to someone who only earns around 1500 euro a month? People went absolutey crazy with all this easy-to-obtain credit from the banks. I knoww very few irish people who blame the USA since the USA is Irelands greatest investor and its thanks to the USA is why ireland has a strong recovery going due to exports.
Re -enact Glass/ Steagall is a start . Oh.. to late , last Sept 2011 while they were playin politics with the budget, the banksters did it again , only this time our FDIC insured deposits are worth about .20 for every dollar you have in savings . The baks took back over 440 t in bad derivatives and pushed them onto the taxpayer via the banks.
he inherited a hole in the roof and now he's trying to remove the roof. It all started back int he 60's with Linden B Johnson declaring "War on Poverty" and giving all these idiots free incomes with babies created out of wedlock. You cannot give everyone everything man. Obama wants to give you the American dream, the problem is that someone else worked for that. My ansestors came to America they learned Elglish, kiss the ground and became Americans. they didn't create Anchor babie citizenship.
My neighbors variable went up so bad he threw it back on the bank and left when the bank wouldn't work with him. All I ever witnessed was people's monthly payents going up. Your story is very interesting. The Truth?
when you buy a house the banks will give you the money so whats up with that all you got to do is pay it back the best way to do that is find out how much you can aford to pay but always ask the banks how much it will cost over 15 years and then way up the differance cos they will want you to pay over say 25 to 35 years you will find there's not a lot more to pay over 15 years and the shorter the loan the better chance you got to pay it off . it make sence so look the greedy banker in the eye.
The greed had to start somewhere -- it did not start with the banks.
It started with Mr. & Mrs. everyman who thought they could get a piece of the action and bought a house beyond their means with money they did not have and begged the bankers to over look their debt ratio and to please lend them the money so they could buy a house that was more than they needed in the first place. They themselves casusing the bubble to expand til it exploded and now they are in the fix they are in... Shut up
@anyname666 and yet the banks, after looking at what the couple made, and knowing their credit gave them the loan, and probably didnt explain to them the small print that states that the interest rate can change at any time they feel like it.
I will say you are an idiot if you sign any document without reading and understanding it, but the banks purposefully targeted people with low incomes and told them refinancing would solve all their problems. The banks essentially bet against those people
sooooo? #1 it is not the banks job to read the contract to the borrower.
#2 The banks did not target the borrower The Democrats have for decades put into place a system whereby the "little guy" could buy a house. This system is set up and guaranteed by an agency of the Federal government. The banks were FORCED to lend money to people they knew were not good risks. If they did not do this then the Feds would take their charter. Given the choice the banks would not have done it
@anyname666 Read section 2 of the CRA. It specifically forbids banks from making any loans that are not in accordance with safe and sound lending practices. The idea the government "forced" banks to make bad loans is absurd. It was simply lenders' greed. BTW 80% of the subprime loans were made by non-bank institutions that were not even subject to the CRA in the first place.
@anyname666 Obama and co. were the ones greatly responsible for forcing the Banks to give these loans out.
And when my wife and I bought our house the bank still tried to get us to sign a variable loan. I wanted nothing to do with "variable" This was in 97. If we did, we would have been in deep shit when the market started to crumble.
When the RE maket tanked in 1990 - HUD had was forced to take back so many houses thay they were selling them off for 20% of there value. By 1995 HUD was having one auction per week out here in LA. 700 homes sold in 3 hours! ! ! !
I took one of those variable loans and my buddy to a fixed loan at 6%... My rate is now 2.187% variable....
Hey wheres the fruits of Obama's Stimulus? Jobs anyone?
Oh no... Why Obama never had anything to do with forcing Banks to give loans under a poor policy that he was strongly advised to not do because it would land slide when he was in Congress.
@AldridgeHalenFreak ..........Obama inherited the credit crisis from previous regime. We all all getting fucked over by the banks and the time has come to revolt and uprise against these white collar criminals

The bankers didn't break any laws or regulations, because we the people removed them. The Irish and European peoples bought into the same neoliberal, supply-side agenda as the Americans. We have ourselves to blame for not remembering the lessons of history.
@TheForwardGaze "...the people" didn't vote for that. They just had the bad judgment to vote for people like Phil Gramm (R-TX) who wrote the bill deregulating banks, brokers, hedge funds, mortgage companies, etc., etc., etc. They got millions in campaign funds and cushy jobs when they deserted Congress, and we, the people, got screwed and handed the bill.
seems strange that a guy in Ireland understands what is happening in the USA - but how many in the USA know what happened in Ireland? the people of Ireland have been sold out by their government to the tune of $500,000+ per every man, woman & child in Ireland! partly due to them buying derivatives, but mainly due to their own real estate bubble. @SamRose1940 I'd say its more interesting that other nations have more of a clue about ANYTHING than the general American public. What he said was 100% true, so why discredit him for being Irish and having experience with this sort of corruption and greed firsthand.
The Frank Dodd bill in the 90s passed allowing ANYone toget a loan, and basically said "If you dont allow loans to these people, its racial descrimination." So they caved and corroberated and fast forward two decades, we're all fucked. The current govt didnt help at all either, or really try to keep it from happening. @redmarch no the frank-dodd bill was passed in 2010 in direct response to the financial implosion, i.e. to regulate again what had been deregulated by the repeal of the Glass-Steagall act which was to control speculation. This is not about a drunk irishmen. This is about getting to the root of Americas major crispis. This was the land of opportunity! do you people see much opportunity? I sure as hell do not! Lets take back what has been taken from us..The human voice is the most powerful weapon in the world. If we all come together that would make us the strongest force on earth.
White male, I take it? Yeah, America was full of opportunity back then... unless you were black, or a native, or a woman, or a mormon, or lived in debt bondage to the company store... you know, the vast majority of Americans.
"If we all come together that would make us the strongest force on earth"
But everyone has a different view on things, and to abandon your convictions for the sake of generating collectivist momentum is profoundly dehumanizing

where do these lunatics come up with this stuff
$500,000 per every man, woman and child in Ireland??
let me see now the population of Ireland is around a five million
so 5,000,000 people times $500,000 =2,500,000,000,000 which is 2.5 trillion
even the USA is only in debt 14 trillion

His name is Dennis Ryan, used to play in a great ballad group called Ryans fancy. he hails from Newport country Tipperary. Mind you he is a long way from Tipperary now. I think he lives in Nova Scotia.

This is not about a drunk irishmen. This is about getting to the root of Americas major crispis. This was the land of opportunity! do you people see much opportunity? I sure as hell do not! Lets take back what has been taken from us..The human voice is the most powerful weapon in the world. If we all come together that would make us the strongest force on earth.
mrmaxv1 3 months ago
@mrmaxv1
"This was the land of opportunity"
White male, I take it? Yeah, America was full of opportunity back then... unless you were black, or a native, or a woman, or a mormon, or lived in debt bondage to the company store... you know, the vast majority of Americans.
"If we all come together that would make us the strongest force on earth"
But everyone has a different view on things, and to abandon your convictions for the sake of generating collectivist momentum is profoundly dehumanizing

staged or not this is the the a god damb messenger god a fucken saint! brilliant blatant truth. we are letting wallstreet turn us into programed slaves. Can you live with that? If so grow a sack we need to get are freedom back.
