  • this is one of those video's that makes you wonder what happened before as well as what happened after.

  • ....whoa

  • Absolutely beautiful :) This Annecy animation has always been my favorite.

  • c'est trop beau !

  • oh my god what is annecy why are there so many of these

  • NO I WANT TO SEE WHAT IT IS!!!! Amazing i wish it could have been longer

  • the jackal comes and brings those who are at their point of death to this spirit and takes them to the spirit world, for those who accept receives peace and tranquility...is what i think ;)

  • simply pure love

  • magnifique

  • Cool idea

  • I love the Jackel's design, and the creature that the old man walks into.

  • That's some real artistic art there. I wonder how they come up with this fantasy. Just say, "hey lets make a movie with an old man, an Anubis-like dog and a big strange fish! Sounds like fun!"

  • @Izzibel09 the anubis type dog is a real animal called the jackal thats why they called anubis the jackel head god ;)

  • that foxy thing there, it reminds me of a creature I drawed a long time ago... oO creepy.

  • this makes me wish i could draw :)

  • This reminded me of charon

  • I wish they could translate the description so we could find out the names of the artists. :(

  • That dog looked a lot like Anubis. And, what was the glowing fish-thing? -cries into hands- I want to knoooow.

  • @goldenphoenixnaruto Okay, after watching it many times, I understand that IS Anubis, and he's guiding the old man to the afterlife, and that's what all the torches represent... Now for the glowing fish creature. Can someone help me out with that? I'm not that knowledgeable when it comes to Egyptian mythology.

  • Great vid. Can anyone tell me if this is a full length film, and if it is, where I can watch it? Thanks, just heard about gobelins just recently, and man are their animations just boosting up their rep!

  • @glitch2424 This is not a full length film. It is just a short that introduces Annecy 2009 which is a french animation festival thingy-ma-bob

  • There is just something about the stillness about it that would feel totally misplaced in a all 3-D film...

  • 0:41 "You shall not pass!" Just kidding. But seriously, it was an amazing short.

  • 0:11 I WANT THAT DOG.

  • There's something so magical about 2D animation that 3D can never quite capture.

This short, I feel, proves my point exactly.

  • @tetsuyayamatashi I couldn't agree more!! :)

  • @tetsuyayamatashi because it allows you to put personality into it via art style

  • @tetsuyayamatashi I agree, and it saddens me that Disney and other companies seem to focus only on 3D animations anymore :(

  • @tetsuyayamatashi Theres abit of 3D in this, you dont see it but its there.

  • @tetsuyayamatashi What's interesting is that this animation contains 3D elements...

  • @hasaiah Yes, most 2D animation does contain 3D elements. I never said that it does not. In fact, you'd be quite hard pressed to find any animation made since the early 1990's that does not contain at least a little bit of 3D.

  • @tetsuyayamatashi It hurts to say,but I'm in school for animation, and on day one of first year "200" of put our hands up that WE ALL wanted to be 2D animators. But the industry,as well as our professors layed down the harsh reality that the industry has all but abandoned it.They tell us we won't get animation jobs without 3D software knowledge,we won't be working on 2D features. All I have to say is,I don't care what it takes,or if it takes my entire life and career in animation, but I'll do it.

  • @Chaostic I am in the same exact boat. Much more passionate about 2d animation than 3d though I'm learning both. I will never give up on 2d so I'm glad there's someone out there willing to fight with me against these silly 3d conventions. Keep fighting the good fight and see you on the other side.

  • c'est un chien ou un chacal?

  • I'm sad that I've only now discovered your videos. They are wonderful. Thank you so much for them.
