If I remember from watching the reruns on PBS, Keeping Up Appearances was the first BBC comedy to shoot their exterior scenes entirely on tape (One Foot In The Grave's were still on film well into their last season)
I'm from Poland and I really love that show! My mum and friends love it too :D We make jokes using Hyacinth's words so often! We even have the real-life Buckets in the neighbourhood :D lol
@ilovefreddykrueger13 Actually it's the 2nd time he's got it...he won the battle a few yrs ago (prostate cancer i think) but it has returned. I do wish him well..he's uniquely lovable.
I must say that is along with Little Britain and Brittas Empire are my favorite British comedies ever and no other British comedies comes even close to them.
The English accent just sounds so darn cute to me. I could listen to Englishmen talk all day! But I guess I they would probably say the same thing about the way I talk.
has anyone ever noticed that Onslow looks like Tweedle Dee/Dum from the disney animated Alice in Wonderland? i was watching it the other day and noticed it.
"Charity shop", and the "Mayors fancy ball" were great! And the one where Counselor Nugent makes another appearance, it was the one where Hyacinth gives Richard a video camera, and in the very end scene, the Counselor turns up at Hyacinths door dressed as a dominatrix, that one was hilarious! I have watched this Brit com since the mid 90's on Public TV here in the States, it's the best! Love Daisy and Onslow, they have a lot of fun with these outtakes! The whole cast compliments each other!
I love this comedy . The outtakes really show the great chemistry they have. Its even funnier to see the "stressed Elizabeth" cracking up when "Hyacinth" forgets her line.
Also, they only show Violet, "My sister who is married to a "Turf Accountant" and lives in a house with a pool, that is big enough for a pony! How many times did you actually see Violet?
I think "Charity Shop" from the first season is by far one of the funniest episodes, and also "the picnic" I loved it when that little barge was dredging the little river and it leaked over her head, and of course when she fell overboard off of the ship! For her age she did some great physical comedy!
I don't remember seeing any of the 'outake' scenes as part of an episode. Love the show though. I remember watching the some of the filming in my home town.
I have a friend who acts just like Hyacinth when I drive. One day I turned to her and said, :"Hyacinth hush up, I'm driving." She looked at me and started laughing - that's when we both realized we both watched the show~
this was one my you tube home page thingy as suggested for me and I had forgotten all about this show...I used to watch it on PBS all the time I loved it so much
it's kind of lame that ya pretty much can only get Public Broadcasting Stations if ya have cable
Its so sweet when the boy says David Jansen makes him laugh and so funny when the man drops his things at Patrica .I love all these outtakes thank you ever so much for posting it.
I will never forget daisy saying in one episode how Hyacinth could see thru laminated surfaces, not a blooper , but its the way she delivers her line that makes them memoroable
this is fab-im n america and fell in luv with are you being served and happened across this little gem and have been obsessed-a little fact elizabeth is the cousin of john inman on are you being served-thank you patricia routledge for your gift of comedy and its sad to know mary millar (rose) that she died in 1998 of ovarian cancer at age 62
I absolutely love this show. My favorite character is Onslow. He's my hero. And here, I'll save you all the trouble of saying it yourselves. Of course an American would idolize a fat hairy layabout. But what can I say, he appeals to my ironclad American (non)work ethic.

Of course I didn't accidentally type that in!What a foolish thing to suggest! I heard that this was a really funny show, so I sought footage of it. Unfortunately, when said footage was found, it failed to arouse even the slightest of chuckles.

I have watched Keeping Up Appearances all the way through at least twice before I had dvd-copied the series. Besides be a comedy, it's been a great T.V.-show in a number of ways! ...it's clean & funny; this is something that would take years to get bored with! This truly is one of BBC's best T.V.'s shows! This and Last Of The Summer Wine! I've recently found "My Hero" too; and as much as I like that one also, Keeping Up Appearances has to be my favorite! _________THANKS...knaurrax.
