Ukraine did not choose to be part of the USSR, they were foreced to be in it. Stalin was the leader of Sovier Union, so prety much Russia, he was CHOSEN to be the leader after Lenin died, Russia chose to go Communist, therefore all damage that was resulted from that was the people fault. Actually as the August war has shown, Russians had huge difficulties getting through Georgian artillery points, I am not even talking about proper defence, since Georgians simply were not preparing for Russian invasion. While pure numbers made a difference in Georgia, this is not the case with the Ukraine

About training, I would think one has to be pretty naive to actually think that "pain endurance" and similar training activities are sort of exclusive to Russian specnaz, good show does not necessarily mean greater capability.
I know they're not exclusive to the Russian Commando unit, however being more pain resistance does help in the battle field.
Very true, anyone can put on a good staged show, it doesn't mean they good preform that well or even close in a real combat situation. It's no different than fancy martial artists who do fancy flips and kicks, yet when in a real fight you could floor them with a good football charge and tackle.

To continue: So what's "Ukrainian" left after such massive wipeout ? Small percentage of the elite turned pro-Stalin, others just dissolved or de-elitnised. Rich Ukrainians had to give up all their possessions and become in total alinement or be killed. On a large scale there have never been true Ukrainian communists, only clusters that served commies. Eastern Ukraine is heavily mixed with Russians and not jut ethnically, also millions were killed during the famine there.

In addition, I really do believe the world would be a far better place withour Russia, there are countries out there trying to solve worlds problems, Russia nither contributes to these problems, or does nothing and complains about everything. Majority of the country is in poverty and they blable on how they would do a better job then the States at controlling the world. Just for the record, i am not American, and only been there once on a vacation.

Actually as the August war has shown, Russians had huge difficulties getting through Georgian artillery points, I am not even talking about proper defence, since Georgians simply were not preparing for Russian invasion. While pure numbers made a difference in Georgia, this is not the case with the Ukraine

Ukraine has hard feelings not out of the blue sky or just because people want to have some fun. Russia has been bullying the Ukraine for many years, it is just how that state functions. How are Russians and Ukrainians the same people? Russia forced Ukraine into the Soviet Union by starving our people out. By all means, Ukrainians are nothing like Russia, we may both be Slavic people, but not the same. My family line lost people during that time as well. Russians came to the farms and took Ukrainians and you never saw them again.
Regardless of being Ukrainian, I still prefer the Russian Speznas training methods. Pain endurance can be a huge aid in combat.

About training, I would think one has to be pretty naive to actually think that "pain endurance" and similar training activities are sort of exclusive to Russian specnaz, good show does not necessarily mean greater capability.

I know they're not exclusive to the Russian Commando unit, however being more pain resistance does help in the battle field.
Very true, anyone can put on a good staged show, it doesn't mean they good preform that well or even close in a real combat situation. It's no different than fancy martial artists who do fancy flips and kicks, yet when in a real fight you could floor them with a good football charge and tackle.
