  • I used to ask my mother to rent this for me almost every time we went to the video store. I am now 31 and this brought back so many memories. The movie randomly popped into my head today. Thank you so much for sharing.

  • I have been looking for this movie for so long...has this been out for long? YAY! I remembered the title and the little girls accent but didn't rember it as being disney. I loved thisi movie. BTW, the people on here who get all wound up about "the occult" over a simple ghost story need to chill out. They aren't even close to the same thing. I do agree that Disney needs to go back to the classics and I miss the Sunday night movie thing too

  • This movie has kind of set my image of what "a ghost" looks like since it came out in 77 (though I may have seen it in '78 or '79).

  • she is holding boo boo dog

  • The Disney channel use to be a great channel to watch. Now all they show is junk. I wish ABC would go back to showing the true Disney classics Sunday nights like they did a few years ago. I remember watching this movie, and loved it.

  • whats the name of this german movie?! i looked it if i was 4 years old,but not in englisch. it's german language

Sry for my horrible englisch :/

  • @kleinedeprimaus1990 This is not a German movie, but an American movie from Disney. Maybe you saw it translated into German. This movie is called THE CHILD OF GLASS.

  • This movie brings back so many memories of my childhood. Haven't had a chance to read all the posts but Disney really needs to unlock the vault and share these movies with the newer generation or even do remakes of it.

  • I have been trying to remember the name of this movie for YEARS! Great post :-)

  • when we were young in the 70's we didn't have computers and video games ,we went outside and used our imagination we ran ,played when we went to lunch we ate healthy not like today they stay inside ,never get out ,never make up things to do ,the video games do it for them send e-mail ,cell phones never face to face ,that's why a lot of shows are repeats from the 70's ,what I wouldn't give to go back one more time and enjoy the slow ,laid back 70's!!!

  • i read this book, but it was called "the ghost b elonged to me"

  • i remember this and i loved it

  • The kid in the movie died in a car accident in the early 1990's. Great film.

  • CHILD OF GLASS had a similar vibe to WATCHER IN THE WOODS, a bit tamer because it was made for TV by a TV director. Disney's theatrical attempts at straight horror (as opposed to comedy horror) during this period included WATCHER IN THE WOODS, SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES and the opening sequence in RETURN TO OZ. They tried for atmosphere over gore, suspense over shock.

  • OH MY GOD! I spend a long time trying to remember the name of this movie! It was a favorite when I was 3 or 5 years old!

I even have a crush for the little ghost (older than me at the time). It was not scary at all! It is memorable!!!

  • this was a favorite of mine when i was litle..

  • Does anyone know or have the photo of the ghost girl named Laura Arroyo that would appear at night in a billboard along time ago in 1991 in Chula Vista in Broadway street? I want to see the photo or video of her ghost that would appear in the billboard at night.

  • I watched this in 1979 as a 5 year old and I remember being totally transfixed by the whole film. I think that it was aired over two evenings on ITV..This film is my earliest movie memory! I know it looks very lame now but back then it was superb : ) Sadly unable at the moment to locate it on dvd. : (

  • I agree.. I was a 90's childs and I really disagree with the silly stuff they have on TV these days! esp. on Disney!!

  • get a hair cut you hippy and you might hear something

  • Sleeping lies the murdered lasse

Vainly cries the child of Glass

When the two shall be as one

The spirit's journey will be done.

  • Wounded lies the sleeping lasse

Borken lies the child of glass

When the two shall be as one

The spirit's journey shall be done!

  • Enfin! Je cherchait se film qui a marquer mon enfance!

I was looking for long time , i cant believe, this movie will be in my souvenir for long time...

I hope disney will make in dvd

  • Oooo... that gives me shivers all over! That was, bar none, the best movie of my childhood. It's great to see a clip. I'd love to see the whole thing again!

  • 32 years after I watched it for the first time I find I still look for this movie. Wish Disney would release it to DVD.

  • The friend named Blossom who helps the boy solve the ghost riddle is actress Katy Kurtzman who played on two 'Little House on the Prairie' episodes and later on the mini-series 'The Awakening Land' with Elizabeth Montgomery. Plus she played on the first season of Dynasty before being killed off.

  • who did she play on little house?

  • Cannot remember her character name, but she played a young teenaged girl who is raped & pregnant by the local towns-smith. Albert tries to marry her, but the rapist finds out their place of rendevous. The girls father and Charles kill the rapist, but the girl dies from a fall. Sad ending. I think it came out in 1976 or 77.

  • It was the episode Sylvia (I'm pretty sure). I think there were 2 parts

  • Yes, you are right about the title "Sylvia" and that is was a two-parter!

  • @jam5bryce Inez Dumaine

  • @jam5bryce Inez Dumaine

  • My first comment was on the girl who played the ghost on movie, but the girl who played his friend Blossom played a Laura Ingalls friend who had a stuttering problem.

  • That's crazy, I can't believe I found this. TY.

  • Someone used to have to entire movie uploaded, what happened? I loved this movie as a kid, thanks so much for this bit!

    Alexaaaanderrrrr.....

  • I used to LOVE this movei back in the early 80s when i was like 6 or 7, i saw it so many times over and over since i had this on vhs. It was maybe my first time seeing a ghostly image on television. i miss the old days

  • Olivia Barash was my first crush because of this movie... I think I was 9-10 yrs old. They showed it several times and I would pitch a BITCH to watch it LOL. Thanks for posting.

  • You're kidding! She's the one that made me realize I was gay!

  • Oh My God, the Child Of Glass!!!!! Another really old file has just been opened in my head... I had completely forgotten about this... Man I love youtube for this reason...

  • ilove the dark spooky side of disney as well as the classic cartoons now its all crappy happy politically correct mumbo jumbo

  • have been lookin for this movie since i was a child,i had absolutely loved it and now wish that my child will get to see it one day..hope its possible to watch the whole movie somewhere...does anyone know???would like to see it again...

  • I was told to contact Disney, an stuff, I didn't get far, however its only on vcr at the moment, if you have more luck than I, I would love to hear from u.

  • I haven't seen this since 1980, but if I remember the doll was down in the well. When he gave the doll back to her she could cross over. As appreciation, she left her doll and when it's head broke open there were diamonds in it. Her uncle had been looking for the diamonds and didn't know they were hidden in the doll when he killed her. Great movie!

I know why she couldn't cross over, but why was the dog still with her and a tormented spirit too? That's the real mystery!

  • Oh man, Olivia Barash. This movie gave me such a crush on her when I was a kid. Wonder whatever happened to her?

  • uuuaahhhh I wanna watch it! been looking for this since i was a kid!

  • I wish this was on dvd. I haven't seen it since I was a kid.

  • Was this the movie where one of the local kids (can't remember if it was a boy or a tomboy-ish girl) complained about "not gettin' no invite" to her (pet / stuffed animal / imaginary friend)?

  • Sleeping lies the murdered lass,

Vainly cries the child of glass.

When the two shall be as one,

The spirits journey will be done.

  • Oh I want to see this! Does anybody know if it's uploaded somewhere like on Megavideo or Tudou? I really, really want to see it!!!

  • OMG!!!!!!! Somebody call the Ghostbusters!!!!

  • Does anyone have any idea why the Disney channel no longer shows any old school Disney movies like the one we are watching or movies like Old Yeller The Cat from outer space or even old Disney cartoons I mean WTF! I remember watching Disney channel during the 80's and they always showed all kinds of movies and cartoons and now they show nothing but Hanna Montana and a bunch of shit. America truly has gone to hell.

  • I think Disney has shifted into a new direction and dumbed down things considerably. I think they fear the backlash of today's parents declaring the inappropriateness of these movies by today's standards. Ghosts, curses, occult. Look at "Watcher in the Woods or "Something Wicked This Way Comes." I think it's ridiculous. I grew up just fine watching these movies.

  • at least watcher in the woods is on dvd. the special features are good, they give some ridiculous alternative endings.

  • ,,Today they teach kids these old movies are taboo and racist needing more bling gratifying self love yet it's ok for teens to use condoms and have sex all the time, especially white girls having sex with black boys, and sharing nude pics of themselves with strangers over the internet and calling them up for sex.

  • @PupuTheClown Well, some kids are still raciest and have an attitude far worse than any movie. Also, some of the cartoons and movies today are terrible for kids.

  • @PupuTheClown Well, some kids are still raciest and have an attitude far worse than any movie. Also, some of the cartoons and movies today are terrible for kids.

BTW, old movies like this are called WHOLSOME. A big word no kid knows anymore.

  • @NymphetamineOrchid How do you determine you grew up fine watching these movies? What is your definition of fine? We don't really know you nor could we investigate your claims so ummmm who can really know? All we do know is that occult themes should not be taught to small children. I don't consider child nightmares "normal" or "part of growing up". so if you define yourself as normal based on your ability to survive childhood trauma. then.....why does it have to be like that?

  • @soundclik43030 It's just an innocent Disney movie not to be taken seriously. It's not meant to be politically correct or difficult -just good old-fashioned fun. Quit reading too much into it ; sit back; relax and chill out. For Pete's sake!

  • @NymphetamineOrchid In my opinion a lot of cartoons and movies dumb children down these days, Disney or otherwise. They always try to be too politically correct.

  • yeah i used to like when they had vault disney late at night, i liked to watch old mickey mouse club episodes, the 70's version was so funny.

  • @whitecelticknight70 Actually, they have started airing old Disney cartoons again, quite often in fact. It still would be nice for them to re-air some of their old live-action stuff, though.

  • @whitecelticknight70 I don't think today's kids could handle a movie like this. haha. I mean I grew up in the 90's and disney was still great then. I mean at least we still had a few scary movies once in a while. Now everything is too cheery and obnoxious. It's sad how dubbed down its become. Kids are far too sensitive these days or they're too desensitized... I mean seriously what's happened to good television. Its everywhere. I mean we've got more reality shows than we need these days. Lame.

  • @whitecelticknight70

It's the same thing with MTV. They used to show music videos. Now it's all lame shows.

  • @whitecelticknight70 Ya, the mentality of kids today wouldn't like those old movies. My 9 and 12 yr old OVE this movie. I had it burned for me and put on DVD.
