  • I had the pleasure of getting pissed with the much missed Les Grey at a 70s weekender in Gt. Yarmouth about ten years ago. He was a real, old-fashioned rock n roller who lived hard and enjoyed every moment of his time in the spotlight. That evening gave me memories I'll cherish until the day I also pop off for good!

    RIP les and Dave

  • Hello Mary Anne

  • This is my personal favourite Mud song. :) Not one of their most exciting, but to me it has a really warm, cosy, sentimental, happy feeling to it (despite the heartbroken lyrics).

The band were before my time, but my parents actually knew Les and I got the music played to me all through my childhood! I remember Les once drove me to school in the mid-80s.

To this day, Mud are still my dad's favourite band! My mum isn't quite so stuck in the past: she prefers Black Eyed Peas and Lady Gaga! :)

but just loved the whole mud thing of the seventies thanks t.q

  • the curly haired guitarist wrote songs for kyle

  • Was 14 yrs then 49 now and still gives me the same shivers. What memories.....

Wrote the words in a Valentine Card to an ex who had just bombed me out !!

  • I'm 2 years older than you and after I broke up with my first "real" love I cried myself to sleep every night to this song! How sad is that?!

  • is there a Mud greatest hits cd?

  • There's several.

  • Came across this on a greatest hits album. Somehow seemed to pass me by at the time. Great song! No one did Elvis quite like Les! Some good harmonies in the background as well. All wrapped up in a wonderful sense of humour! Sorely missed.

  • Hehe maybe they did ;D He also laughs afterwards, like he's thinking "oh god I just yawned during our music video" LOL

I agree with TwentiethCenturyBaby below, apart from their music, I loved the boys' sense of humour - goofing around and having a good time.

  • yes they had no airs about them, they were enjoying what they did and it showed in their performances, they were fun, and they always had time for the fans.......loved them

  • oops i menty LIVE!!!!

  • nice,Sid and his band Mud 2 do it good, go and watch them on the Merry Xmas tour with T rextcy and Slade Reelly good

  • Ta piosenka to miód na moje serce !

  • One thing I loved about Mud apart from their music was their great sense of humour. Great band.

  • we were lucky to be able to get seats right next to the stage at a few mud shows, one of my lasting memories of one of their shows was when we ordered our drinks, as the waitress was taking our order les motioned with his hand that he would like one too, he asked for a pint of lager which we got him and had to keep passing up to him throughout the show in between songs, god did we get mucky looks from some of the other 'fans.' we made sure he got his round in later though.......

  • I was even luckier, i worked with them!!!!

Very sadly missed, dear Les and Dave.

  • Saw them life, long time ago, at a festival in Holland and they were great. Such nice memories, to Maur45: you are right, they were legends, at least to me.

  • omfg whats with the audience??? look like a wake thats just broke out at a party!!!. Bet they didnt realise what utter bullshit was to follow in the future :-(

  • What you have to realise is mud were about at the same time as a lot of younger bands like the sex pistols, boomtown rats, blondie etc so the youngish audience probarbly hadnt heard of mud before this they were a good band but essentially a joke band.
