  • he looks just like Velma Dinkley XD

  • @maccafan10 I know Wiki but not "Wikki", if that was what you meant. Now just calm your nerves, it isn't a big deal if i was wrong.

  • @QcMarcAndre

Wiki, Wikki, all sounds the same (but not the same sin as McCartney without Lennon), and don't worry you ain't in trouble, just don't do it again, lol (also my nerves are just great with a nice glass of malt wikki in my hand)

  • @slimshine953..............Thanks for the correction sorry about that but you know who I meant , and yes Peter Asher does remind me of Sammy Davis Jnr but there again one expects peoples different opinions , either way one cannot deny Sammy was a legend a marvellous entertainer and is sadly missed . RIP Sammy .

  • @Albert18264 It's Sammy Davis Jr, not Davies... and you must be kidding.

  • @oldierunner..............Another fact you may like to know is that this song is also the national anthem of North Korea .

  • @oldierunner.................Gordon is actually a young Donald Trump before changing his name , and the red head is Austin Powers otherwise known as Peter .

  • Who from the video above is Peter and who is Gordon? Or better, who is the red head?

  • 0:33 HAHAHAHAHAHAH - The guy with orange hair is so UGLY!

  • @viceisthename You think so? I've read mixed opinions. Some of the girls think he's rather cute.

  • @slimshine953 Really? I think they are fooling themselves into believing that he's cute only because he's famous. Haha...

  • Comment removed

  • @slimshine953 Haha yeah!

  • Peter would get it.

  • John never liked the song. I don't see how, it's wonderful! But he thought The Beatles were beyond this. The "Please lock me away" line is what did it for him. But this definitely would have fit in nicely on "Help!"

  • Peter Asher may look older but Donald Trump has not really changed much over the years , he still has the same hairstyle aswell and is obviously a lot richer .

  • @Albert18264 what are you trying to imply?

  • I see Gordon Waller passed away in 2009

  • @jimster46 a girl that works in the supermarket was showing me pictures of him they got his autograph

  • That is one serious shade of orange.

  • Beautiful blend of voices! Both were really cute too. I'm a sucker for boys in chunky glasses...always have been, and always will be! :)

  • i not understand why in all of the 60`s music the guitarist always walks around from the middle of the song?

  • @MrRambo4 It was to keep the performance from being too static... to add a little choreography for the viewer. And how old are you?

  • @MrRambo4 Ok now I understand.

  • oh yes love yesterdays music

  • I never knew Austin Powers was a ginger

  • @malachy81 I never knew anyone was a "ginger" XD

  • fucking classic

  • Love this song and love the video. Peter is Jane's brother and Paul McCartney and Jane dated for a time. I believe they even lived together for 5 years.

  • Who were they related to again?

  • @sgsimool I think Peter Asher was related to Jane Asher, but I wouldn't swear to it!

  • @gymskirt Yes they're related... brother & sister.

  • Indeed, no one wants to live in a world without love. On the other hand, this world does give us so many to love and it not just limited to that between a man and a woman. God, nature, the sun, our bodies, foods, family, friends, pets, stars, our emotions, summer breeze, the sound of ocean, the blue sky, singing birds, blossoming flowers, the seasons, and of course, great music and echoing songs like this, are all here for us to love. The journey of life itself is love.

  • 0:10 Austin Powers

  • I never knew Austin Powers could play the guitar

  • @malachy81

    Yeah baby yeah

  • @malachy81 looks like Chris Evans- ginger and glasses

  • nice great song,,

  • austin power used to sing

  • The Total Television 1966 series "The Beagles" was based on Peter and Gordon.

  • I like the whole "oh ... let's go stand over here for a bit then wander over there then come back" format a lot of these old filmed performances used. ;)

  • i never kissed anyone. and im in a world without love and i'll stay single.

  • stunning color, quality and sound for 1965

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah baby, it's Austin Powers!!!

  • @jameschar24 I was thinking the same thing! xD

  • Good times.

  • Austin Powers in red...

  • Holy shit, this has wonderful quality :3

  • #1 on charts June 1964. Great song and performance

  • Austin Powers has better teeth!

  • @09jpick I singled you out for no particular reason, but this forum isn't about their teeth or hair, or who they resemble. It's about the the song & performance. Offer a relevant comment, not meaningless jabber.

  • McCartney's version would be interesting to hear. Doubt he'd have used a wirly-girly organ or whatever you call it.

  • @rogerscottq Herdy gerdy you mean? And yea, wonder if there is a McCartney demo somewhere

  • Paul wrote this for these two because he was dating Peter Asher's sister Jane at the time

  • I have red hair combed like a Beatle and kinda look like him but not wearing those funny glasses.

  • Daphne from Scooby Doo

  • McCartney was behind the comparisons to Austin Powers?

  • Great tune ...

  • Excellent quality:)

  • d best!

  • thought it was Chris Evans

  • @alanwhylde haha.

  • looks gay!

  • I love Gordon.. (:

  • Peter Asher is NOT cute anymore. : (

I sound like a bitch saying that, but...it's true.

  • @cadmiumblue We can't all be cute in our late 60's like Paul McCartney!

  • @cadmiumblue Of course he's not "cute" in a young way anymore; he's not young. But he's still kinda cute for an old guy.

  • @heytherehello999 No, he isn't.

  • @cadmiumblue Well, we all have our own opinions.

  • Comment removed

  • @cadmiumblue he's not cute, but he's pretty succesful. did you catch the Buddy Holly tribute he helped put together last year? he still sings really well too !!

  • love this tune

  • Damn, red's teeth are all jacked up!

  • I always thought this was such a beautiful love song. Then, well I'll be darned! Paul McCartney wrote it, so of course it's lovely. In a 60's mood, "Because" by the DC5 and "Sometime in the Morning" by the Monkees are also gorgeous.

  • Peter is so cute and jane asher is so pretty!

  • Paul McCartney is the genius behind this

  • @MadflowsA Actually, upon further investigation, it seems that Lennon & McCartney had about an equal share in the composition of this gem.

  • @slimshine953 I stand corrected! It sounds more like a McCartney song tune though.

  • @slimshine953 McCartney gave it to his girlfriends brother peter without lennon mccartneys songs get too bubblegummy

  • @spacepatrolman Ridiculous. You're way off base with that comment. There is many documented examples of Beatles' songs written by McCartney with little or no input from Lennon, and they're not the least bit "bubblegummy", to use your term. "Things We Said Today", "I'll Follow The Sun", "Eight Days A Week", "I've Just Seen A Face", "Drive My Car", "I'm Looking Through You", "Got To Get You Into My Life", "Here,There & Everywhere", "Getting Better", "Helter Skelter", and "Get Back" to name a few.

  • @slimshine953 lennon wrote 8 days a week he likes those plays on words like please please me a hard days night

  • Comment removed

  • @spacepatrolman Lennon & McCartney both wrote "Eight Days A Week" with Paul writing the bulk of the song (about 2/3 to 1/3), as confirmed by many people to include John. John did write "A Hard Day's Night" but the title is from Ringo.

  • Beautiful song. But at 0:32 I heard " yeah baby yeah!!!."

  • anyone else get these guys mixed up with Chad and Jeremy??

  • dig those nice gibsons!

  • That dude looks a lot like John Lennon when he was young .

  • I love this retro 60's stuff, almost cartoonish!

  • Great duo! It is very beautiful tune of Lennon-McCartney. It would be so nice if I heard the Beatles version!

  • @tkgirl39 There is no Beatles version. This song was written by Paul McCartney for Peter and Gorden to see if it would become a hit without Paul's name attached to it.

  • @susp1 You have this mixed up with 'Woman' which Paul wrote for P&G under a pseudonym. 'World Without Love' was openly credited to Lennon-McCartney.

  • @thoof2001 Oh....okay, thanks for the correction.

  • @thoof2001 You're correct about that sir. McCartney did indeed compose the song "Woman" for Peter & Gordon. I think he used the pseudonym Jim Webb.

  • Were these guys on an episode of Batman? Or similar duo? Or Hermans Hermits? This is an excellent video. Thanks for posting.

    Oh...maybe Chad and Jeremy

  • @zeero62 I had a similar question. Were these guys on the Patty Duke Show? Or was it Chad and Jeremy?

  • @visor109 : That was Chad & Jeremy on the Patty Duke Show.

  • Were these guys on an episode of Batman? Or similar duo? Or Hermans Hermits? This is an excellent video. Thanks for posting.

  • The Beatles cou;dve done a great job with this song. I would've loved to hear a Beatles version. ♥

  • Austin Powers thats whats up

  • VERY BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!

  • VERY BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!

  • Keep up the good work!

  • Written by Paul McCartney, but rejected by John. So, what did Paul do? He gave it away to his then girlfriend, Jane's brother Peter Asher who then records it and it became number one. Great song

It would have been nice if the Beatles recorded this one as well.

  • Revise my comment he was taller by a few inches easy.

  • Was this transferred from a 35 mm film print? The quality is outstanding and quite unlike any videotape that I ever viewed from that era.

  • @Marantzguy I have started to notice a lot more high quality vids from way back showing up lately. I too wonder where people get them from.

  • @Marantzguy I have started to notice a lot more high quality vids from way back showing up lately. I too wonder where people get them from - perhaps from blu-rays collections?

  • written by paul mccartney

  • Put glasses on Gordon and they can be The Proclaimers.

  • Peter's eyeglasses is trending now lol

  • Wonderful duo !

  • AWESOME quality. kudos.

  • Shage me baby......

  • great tune..thanks for sharing!!

  • Awesome Tune! Written By Paul McCartney ;)

  • I love this song Peter & gordon one the best duo's of all time I'm sad that Gordon has passed away but this is a greatest song love them !!!

  • AUSTIN POWERS.....

  • Gordon's nose in profile reminds me of someone...

  • Great song.

I can't helping thining about the way John Lennon reacted (according to Paul McCartney) to this song; which was basically ""Please lock me away", okay end of song", and they would end up laughing. And honestly, neither can I, this is one of the best examples of unusual starts/intros to a song.

  • written by the Beatles

  • Is this from that episode of the Batman TV show? (Yes, they did make an appearance on it, their voices were stolen. I just haven't seen it in 30+ years...)

  • @thedamnmushroom not this is from a movie released back then in theatres called top gear i think.i recorded the whole movie off of hd net tv channel a month ago.

  • easily pleased back then.

  • the resolution of the footage is phenomenal

  • one of the greatest duo's of all time! Love 'em!

  • Macca gave them this song as long as they recorded it exactly as he wanted. Peter asher was his brother in law back then. The coreography of the video epitomizes the innocence of that era. LOL

  • check out those British teeth!

  • What a great video, awesome quality, thanks.

  • same glasses was real? jajajajaj

  • deam Austin Powers is real same hair and same smile

  • He also looks like Ernie from my 3 sons, groovy

  • Nice song, steady beat and supreme volcals.

  • It WAS written by Paul McCartney, but for some reasons the beatles didn't perform this song(I think it was because Paul McCartney said it wasn't good enough for the beatles; correct me if I'm wrong) and McCartney gave this song to Peter Asher, the one with the glasses, becuase he is the sister of McCartney's then girlfriend,Jane Asher.

  • @draisens you are correct.

  • @draisens I read somewhere that Lennon laughed at the opening line and said OK I will. Sounds like it could be true. We do this at every gig and it is still a winner.

  • It must be written by Lennon/McCartney...

  • You people are wrong, you should be saying Austin Powers looks like Peter Asher, as he was a legend long before Austin Powers was anybody

  • @GialloHorror hear, hear! I'm quite sure Mike Myers based a lot of his look for the Powers character on Mr. Asher.

  • @GialloHorror Hear Hear!

  • Paul McCartney songwriting! <3

  • @krissyjeshi i honestly thought the beatles sang this song. Little did i know they had given it away. But you can tell its their style.

  • Thats austin!

  • this song my eternal favourite

  • peter looks like austin powers and ron weasley had a kid

  • I've been sitting here listening to sixties songs all morning, and now I'm gonna be late for work!

  • this song proves gingers do have souls

  • austin powers

  • classic classic classic classic classic FOREVER !

  • Is that Thelma from Scooby Doo?!

  • Lennon / Mccartney 1964

  • I wonder if Peter ever knew Chris Evans mother.

  • Gordon does look a lot like lennon, or one of his sons! Amazing Paul wrote #1 hits when he was 16. And it true that Austin Powers was based off Peter.

  • Woody Allen and John Lennon!

  • @johnniebgoode que buena:) jajajajjajajaj same
