This movie SUCKS. This is not the meaning of the Lorax. They literally ran the book through a blender. The Lorax is about how industries destroy nature, and how that has in turn collapsed a civilization living in that nature, not some funny tale of a boy who loves a girl and wants to grow some trees to make her happy. I know that it's just a movie, but I grew up reading the Lorax, and this is not what it's meant to be.

@Vortexmu5icinc I'm just gonna put this out here, it's "based" on the Lorax. Films are never 100% what they're based on, heck you're lucky to even get 80% likeness half the time. This is because what works for a book/game/whatever it's based on usually won't work with a film format, or appeal to film audiences. I'm not saying the films great, I'm just a little tired or everyone demanding that everything be the same and accurate across the board.

I though the idea of not showing the Oncler's face was to depict him as a faceless businessperson. This seems very...campy for what I consider to be Dr. Seuss' darkest work.

There plenty of storybooks i read that became movies and classic and I've noticed not one of them is 100% the same.

I actually approve of a film's willingness to alter whatever they like from the source material in order to translate it to film. What I disapprove of is sacrificing the mood, atmosphere and impact of a highly original, deeply beautiful children's story in order to make another crowd-pleasing laugh-a-minute family movie. It's not the unfaithfulness, it's the squandering of potential.

Objectively, it looks pretty good, and I appreciate that they're keeping the story intact so the moral comes through (even if they are adding a whole adventury sequence afterwards.) If they hadn't added anything, however, and had handed the film over to Tim Burton/Henry Selick, it could've been as special as the story. The original book I find to be Dr. Seuss' most haunting work. This seems an efficiently made production, but I don't think that's enough.

Once-ler still cut down the tree, feels regret, tells a boy the story and the last seed, and lorax still try to stop him. Who cares if the film makers change a little bit and added some new stuff in it? I've read tons of storybooks that end up turning into movies that ends up classic and I've noticed that in each one there a twist or something different.
