I'll be moving to the the US virgin Islands next month and I'll be living on St John for six months. Can you tell me if it is easy to find natural hair products like shea butter, etc and if there is a natural hair community? This will help me so that I don't over pack on products I can get there and not have to buy online. Thanks!

@iamsillywarm :: unfortunately I don't know the answer since I haven't lived there for 17 years :(. From what I've seen there is no "natural hair community" in the sense people mean here in the states however there are just way more people wearing their hair natural, always have been, so it shouldn't be an issue to find stylists. Products...I don't know about that one honestly.

How you kept up with your hair during the beach time and all. I'm from the Virgin Islands, St. Croix. Going for 2 1/2 weeks in 3 weeks and this is my first time going with my hair natural....How did you deal with ur hair at the beach and washing out the salt water? Hola,

I just rinsed my hair well when I got home after the beach. I only went swimming once, near the end of my trip so it wasn't that bad. I actually think I washed the twists with castile soap and everything, then moisturized with shea butter and coconut oil and bantu knoted it so it could dry curly.

Thanks for the tips! I'm so excited to go to St. Croix, my home! I have a frohawk right now, but I think I'll experiment a bit in order to see what will suit me best. I'll use the Shea butter for sure, and take my castille soap with me. I will go to the beach often, but probably wet my hair only once or twice while on my trip! yes the bvi... i miss that place usvi is nice but I prefer bvi the island is not too industrialised. you go to road town in tortola? i used to work near there :( good times glad you enjoyed yourself

i went to St. Thomas on a cruise a couple years back and there is a place called "Cousins" it a resturtant...lord their food is the best
