Nader is going into the electoral arena to challenge corporate duopoly that shuts out competition. I do not think what Nader is doing is possible to do from outside. Do you know his legal challenges to ballot access, i.e.? Nader is exposing the system, trimtabing, keeping issues on the table and steering the dialogue, exerting outside pressure, serving as a protest vote, motivating political action, etc. Hes also trying to improve/fix the electoral system, just like he put seatbelts in cars.
Thank you for a thoughtful and clearly outlined commentary. You seem to have your finger on the pulse. However, your closing thoughts to sum up was vague. You ask that instead of running for office, he put his efforts into "...organizing the 100 million voters who don't participate in the system...to test the political system as it's never been tested before...unite us...to take our nation back..." Are you suggesting a voter registration drive? Could you elaborate?
I like this but I do disagree. By running, he is hoping to open the hearts and minds of those of us who are fed up. I believe he is trying to use the time he has to inspire all of us to hold not just our government and/or its corporate/special interest masters accountable, but ourselves.
Our only disagreement is that I believe that Mr. Nader can do more to accomplish the goals that you mention in your comments as a voter advocate, rather than a political candidate. Political reform will never be generated from within the system. Only when each and every member of congress fears the wrath of the voting public, more than they fear special interest group power, will reform have a chance to take place. The fed-up voters are ripe to be organized. Mr. Nader--let's challenge them.
Nader is organinzing voters by run for office. Telling him to stay outside is marginalizing. Political reform ultimately needs to be generated from within. Outside pressure effective? Pelosi taking impeachment of the table, Democrats REFUSAL to end the war, Obama/McCain has just pushed through the Bail Out of Wall Street at great expense to American People. Nader is doing what he has to, what Thomas Jefferson said to do...when you are losing your government, you must enter the electoral arena.
Ahh ! Name-calling. Thank you so much for your astute political observation. You can rest assured that you have shamed me so much that I may never post again.
Well, what do you know. Nader is doing exactly what you are requesting in this video.

The system only appears brokken if you assume we live in a democracy.
If,on the other hand, you assume we live in an empire, the pieces start comming togather, and the actions of our government start to make sense.
"WAR IS PEACE!"
"FREEDOM IS SLAVERY!"
"IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH!"
The older I get,the more I think that Eric Blair(George Orwell)knew what he was talking about.
1984. To people like me,and you,it's a warning, but to people like Karl Rove, and Dick Cheney,it's an instruction manual.

You agree with Nader but don't want him to run. Oxymoronic, eh? Or more along the lines of, moronic.
