I can see little angels with harps and soft voices singing this... and soft clouds and light and god... ahahhaa.... im crazy but i like that piece of music
My dearest sympathies to a large portion of the commenters. I have the benefit of having an awesome mother who knows that even videogames can produce breathtaking music.
Honestly, I believe it's a crying shame that Uematsu-sensei doesn't get the credit and appreciation he truly deserves. Say I'm listening to the one of the OST CD's in my car while I drive my mom to work. She asks who it is, and when I tell her it's natural she has no idea who I'm talking about. The INSTANT I mention the song is from a video-game, however, she completely tunes out and loses all respect.
@hokutonosword1 This piece of wonderful music brings this non-rpg graphics HD-whore asshole COD gamer to his knees, in his own pool of tears. :`) Nobuo Uematsu will be one major reason why I love the Final Fantasy series
@Celdrach well, people like that have no respect for great gifted ones and it is your mother's choice to either appreciate and accept that this musician is truly remarkable that is something listen with enjoyment or turn it down by simply being rude and give no pleasant thought/appeal to a musician being different with his work ;/
@Celdrach My parents do that too. They just need to learn that great music can come from anywhere. Although I have gotten them to appreciate Heroes of Might and Magic music recently. Look it up. It's composed by another musical genius named Paul Anthony Romero.
@Celdrach My parents do the same. Why can't people just appreciate beautiful music without judging and berating its origins? Why is something composed for a movie or play more important and respected than an equally beautiful piece meant for a videogame?
I don't understand it, but I swear I will teach my kids to appreciate music like this.
I love that this is the prelude from Final Fantasy VII. So haunting.

I want this song playing while I'm dying. Either this or A Gleam in the Distance from the Black Butler ost. I'm not picky, o great ipod in the sky.

Wow, these comments make me glad I got my mom to go with me to a Distant Worlds concert to show her why I really played the games.

@Celdrach You are not alone, brother...
"Wow, this is beautiful, what is it?"
-"It's the final fantasy prelude by Nobue Uematsu."
"huh wha... is that from a game or something?"
-"It's an orchestral rework of a piece of vg ost, yeah."
"oh... nevermind... you should be doing something else with your life... so what's for dinner?"
And I haven't even played final fantasy except for small bits of 7 and 9... just imagine.

@RosieSquall well i can say not everyone's like that
my parents for example love the music in certain games
they don't judge the music because it's from a game rather
they think that a media like this can bring such divine music
to people all over the world and satisfy them
