  • I've had a Playsport for a while, but all the video is choppy and blurry. How did you get it so clear?

  • Is that Playsport the ZX3 or the ZX5?

  • @CrazyiPodReviewer Do you think it would be better to buy a Zx3 or a Zx5?

  • @SammySamuelSam Get the Zx5... it's a newer camera with more features.

  • youtube runs at a 24fps standard 0_0...

  • How is the Playsport's autofocus? I mean for things like reviews and close up unboxings? Plz reply!

  • @ReptilWithIpods22

Autofocus on the Playsport is nonexistent.

  • Hey how does this look at night? Hard to pick up a lot of stuff or does it seem pretty clear?

  • Wow, where do you live? It's gorgeous!

  • @JanaINJax Phoenix, Arizona :)

  • that comment was for CALICOTV30

  • 30fps is too little for action recordings. Far too much blur.

  • Does this have 30fps? Why do people do these tests in 60fps all the time? Is it because it doesn't have 30fps? The stuff you guys film is mostly hurtful on the eyes, especially when you are moving a lot and it's shaking. Try 30fps if it has it

  • @CALICOTV301 It has a 30 fps option

  • Can you transfer it to Windows Movie Maker?

  • @TheLassieShow On most computers... yes!

  • @CrazyiPodReviewer Hey I have windows movie maker and my computer is a emachines and windows vist could i transfrer it to that comupter?

  • @TheLassieShow I dont think so. It records as .MOV and I dont think WMM supports that. You would need to convert it using a program like SuperC

  • Has anyone started to experience fog in the lens? I've had mine for a little over a year and in the water the lens and the LCD screen develop fog. After 3 or 5 minutes it starts to go away.

  • I got a Parkour Video from myself on my channel filmed with the Kodak Playsport. Its also nice because i think that movements still are liquid with the 60 fps mode.

  • Please help me i have this camera, i also use sony vegas pro 10. I have no idea how to get it into the correct format to upload to youtube.

  • YOUTUBE ONLY ALLOWS 30 FPS!

  • @FrankenstienMidget no they fucking dont LOL

  • @matthew38 They do Sir! Look it up.

  • @FrankenstienMidget Maybe with video camera, but if you look at my videos the gaming ones, hd pvr is 59.94.

    sorry didnt mean to say 'fucking;

  • @matthew38 Well, you might have recorded it in 59.94 fps. But the YouTube encoding makes it 30 fps or 29.97(?).

  • @FrankenstienMidget not true

  • @WeezyVoice 29,97, or lower. But you get what I mean.

  • hows the night vision?

  • Good camcorder for the cost, but when I compared it against the go pro for wake boarding... the go pro does better under higher vibrations. If you have the extra bucks, go for the go pro. If you don't do much intense outdoor activities... go for the kodak :)

  • i dont know if i mixed something up but i thought that fps was highspeed or was that something else? If yes then plz tell me what highspeed is and how to measure it if thats how it works

  • How do I get it to upload in HD on Youtube? after I edit my videos using iMovie HD the HD goes bye bye.

  • @Tykour

Make sure you export it in Quicktime HD on iMovie

  • @CrazyiPodReviewer Alright I shall try that, thanks :)

  • I got mine yesterday. And compared to the clips shown here on youtube the image quality of my Playsport is CRAP! All the way from WVGA to 1080. No matter if I view it on my PC or HDTV. Totaly piss poor image quality. So my advice is that if you can you should try it before you buy it.

  • @Poppezai

Wow that's disappointing. Is your memory card a SDHC? that could be the problem.

  • @CrazyiPodReviewer the image quality is also pretty bad on my play sport, and I have a 4GB SDHC. What memory card do you use and would you recommend it?

  • @lizardman152

I use the Kodak brand 8GB SDHC card. I have a video about it on my channel

  • @CrazyiPodReviewer I just got mine and have a test vid up! Looks pretty good to me. I use iMovie and export the vid using Quicktime with HD settings! Have yet to try the 1080p!

  • @lizardman152 You must have at least a CLASS 6 card

  • @lizardman152 also make sure your sdhc is class 6 or higher, that makes a HUGE difference!

  • @CrazyiPodReviewer what is your memory card

  • @Poppezai

After owning several cams , I have to say this is the worst.

I read reviews for months and all seemed positive so I bought it.

The screen is too small and too dark to see subject matter even in perfect light.

Any cell phone will beat this hands down for both stills and video!

At recent functions I just abandoned this and used my cell phone for recording.

    16GB SDHC.

  • @remlap51 It seems that the cause to the bad quality of my first try outs with the Play Sport was bad lighting. I shot some footage at work a few days later and the quality turned out quite good (I posted it on my channel here on Youtube). I'm not gonna use the Play Sport when shooting more serious films (for that i have a Canon HV20). I wanted a "quick shooter" to carry with me and that's why I bought the Play Sport. More testing will follow.

  • @Poppezai have u sorted the problem yet? Cos the You tube vids look great so i cant see why urs wasnt working?

  • @DocBrewster I guess the problems was my expectations. I thought it would make good quality vids indoors with the poor lighting I got. I guess other ZX3 users had better lighting when they made their films with it. When I gave it a go during a 4 day long excercise outdoors this winter the quality turned out very good :-)

  • @Poppezai What speed is the card? At first I was using a Class 4 card where the quality was only good on my Mac. I then picked up a Class 10 card and there was a huge difference in quality on my TV.

  • How did you upload this? Either YouTube's compression is wack, or you've re-encoded it.

  • @kookyklavicle

I uploaded the raw file straight to youtube. No modifications were done by myself.

  • Question: Is it possible to take the raw footage shot with this camera and load it into FinalCut Pro for editing?

  • @BFPNick

yes this camera works great with Final Cut Pro!!

  • i have just oreder my kodak playsport, cant wait :)

  • @JoeFulford

    Nice!! you'll love it =D

  • @CrazyiPodReviewer Question: Is it possible to take the footage you shot and edit it in FinalCut Pro?

  • @buttduck97

The Kodak Playsport doesn't have autofocus, it's a fixed lens

  • can record with this in standard def

  • @SmoooveProductions

Yes you can record in WVGA

  • about how much memory does this camera use if

    1) you're filming in 720p 30fps for an hour

    2) you're fliming 1080p for an hour?

  • @CSN13

    1) around 8 GB

    2) around 12-14 GB

This camera records in .mov so it's pretty compressed!

  • @CSN13 actually. (1.)720p@ 30fps on an 8gb gives ya 2:10:45. (2.) 720p @60fps and 1080p @30fps both will take 01:30:14. also note youtube compresses 60fps to 30fps.

  • Great camera I think I will get me one Where in the country are you? nice place

  • @realinohio

    Western United States ;)

    and thanks!

  • @CrazyiPodReviewer I want to move there Ohio sucks!

  • I'm thinking of getting one of these for my in-flight videos when I go flying. It should work good with my window suction cup mount

  • Are you sure that you rendered this video at 60FPS?Fraps is saying to me that FPS are 27-35 not more, and you can see the image a lil bit laggy.

  • @Theokondak

I did not use any video editor to edit this video. This is the raw video file uploaded straight to YouTube.

YouTube must not handle HD then.

  • @CrazyiPodReviewer with that you mean that the raw video (the one just exported from the camera) is better quality? And if yes could you please upload it in any file hosting service so we can check it?Also i would like to ask you if there is indeed a huge quality difference between 720p and 1080p cause of software compression failure of Playsport?

  • @CrazyiPodReviewer

Youtube supports HD, but not 60fps.

  • @Theokondak youtube doesn't support 60fps so it compresses it to maximum 30fps

  • @Theokondak

That is youtube's player displaying at '30fps' not the original footage

  • With or without stabilization; HD Vids on this Kodak Video Camera come out great!!!

  • Nice

  • is the GoPro HD worth the extra money over this?

  • @LIVEtoFLY09 this is better

  • @LIVEtoFLY09

I have both and the Go Pro HD at 720p 60FPS is much better... I have a dozen or so films on here you can check out.

  • It looks really good, but I'd prefer the stabilization off for videos.

  • @MrFood11

It does look good, but why turn off the stabilization?

  • @CrazyiPodReviewer If the fps is at 30, then the stabilization makes everything really wobbly and creates a Jello-like effect.

  • is the battery re-chargable?

  • @LoveYourImperfecti0n

Yes it's a lithium rechargeable battery

  • how good does the microphone work once its wet?

  • @mikryan123

The mic is usually fine when it comes out of the water

  • how well does it handle 1080p??

looks like a great little camera for the money. :)

  • @al210993

Yes this camera is a really good value!

I have a few test videos on my channel with 1080p so I'll let you decide ;)

  • How much HD footage can the SD cards hold?

  • @rockinar

SD cards come in many sizes. My 8GB SD card cam hold about 2 hours of video

  • please can you do a slow motion test for thsi camera for 1080p setting and 720p 60fps setting, thanks

  • I just bought one of these, I'm happy with it.

The reason I chose this one is that i'm going on a watersport holiday next week and I intend to get it wet.....very wet!!!

  • @honeyfred

Oh sounds fun! and you have the perfect camera for it!

  • @FungaFuFuStudios

That is right! The camera will record until it fills the memory card. And you cannot pause while recording, when you stop recording and restart recording the camera will make a new video clip

  • @FungaFuFuStudios

You need to purchase a SD card for the camera

  • got mine today

  • @danieltait123

Very cool! I'm sure you'll love it

  • So i buy it for tomorow, absolut amazing colors and quality for this price!

Well its perfeckt for my art of movement!

    Thanks for demonstration!

    Cionn

  • How long is the battery life? i cant seem to find the answer to this

  • @ninja2217

Battery life is about 3 hours however it can be less if you turn the camera on and off a lot. You can buy backup batteries

  • @CrazyiPodReviewer well thats not bad at all. the one i have now is only 124 minutes of battery life. cuz like everyones complaining about the battery on the kodak playsport

  • @ninja2217

Yeah, it's not terrible and like I said before you can always get a back up battery to swap out just in case you happen to use it more than you think

  • @CrazyiPodReviewer I just bought a replacement battery, cost £12 from amazon. It's a Kodak one, there were other after market makes but it's best to go with the original.

The SD card that I use is a SDHC 120HD (8gb) Says it gives 2 hours at HD which it does on the 720 setting but not on 720 (60) or 1080. it gives 1 hour 30 mins. so not bad.

  • How to get single frames to use as pics Set a Video player to large and find your frame you like and hit pause then hit "Print Sc" button, then open Photoshop, create new, and then paste the Still Image you copied with the screen shot.

  • Whats the advantage of 60fps? Does it mean you can slow it down 50% and not visibly loose frames?

  • @241stskipper

The advantage is that if you are filming something that involves something such as sports the video will look smoother. Also as you said you can put the video in slow motion and it will look more high quality

  • @CrazyiPodReviewer Ah, sweet. Just ordered myself one :-) Great review.

  • I am planning on getting this camera, but I just would like to know if it can take still pictures.

  • @Thomas724

Yes! It takes 5mp stills which actually are pretty good quality

  • All you need is 30 FPS to be perfect. Anything lower is visible to the naked eye... start putting it at 30 FPS to save file size :)

  • @Stanaford

I typically do not record my videos in 60 fps

This is a test video of 720p 60fps on the Kodak Playsport

  • I just received it today and it works but I am interested to see if the beep when recording is audible while on my helmet. All the functions work fine and it was very inexpensive and is very compact. I think it will make this toy much more fun.

  • I have had mine for about 10 days and made a dozen or more films. I am very happy with it. I just received the remote so I can activate it while on my helmet (for tree service website). Next plan is to learn to edit and put some music in them.

  • @treemands

    Very nice!

I am seriously considering getting myself a remote for my Playsport.

How do you like the remote? Is it worth getting?

  • @menitar12

I'm not sure, but it would probably have to be a camera that records to a tape.

You could probably get a used Mini-DV camera and use that

  • @menitar12

You cannot record the TV with this camera and the microphone is mono so I am pretty sure it does not have advanced features such as sound focus.

  • dude u got cactuses in your driveway..omg i never saw 1 uv those in my life lol

  • i dont like it

  • @panchoe57

May I ask what you do not like?

  • @CrazyiPodReviewer idk i dont like! bad colors! :)

  • I really wanna get this camera before i go to hawaii this summer. would it be able to go down 10 ft still if i record this in the ocean while snorkeling? just wondering because its salt water.

  • @iFartallday

Salt water is not a problem for this camera. Kodak recommends washing it off with fresh water after use. I would not recommend taking it below 10 feet no matter what kind of water it is in.

  • @CrazyiPodReviewer alright thanks.

  • lol your at that batanicle gardens in arizona yeaaaa got ASU

  • Nice vid! I love my Playsport but I am having trouble editing. I lode quality after the save and it jumps and skips. When I uploaed to youtube, the video has black columns on the right and left, hw did you get it to fill the entire viewing screen? Any help is appreciated so I can upload videos in high def quality. Thanks!

  • @BFISHN

In this video I uploaded the raw unedited file so it came out in widescreen. Your video editor may be too old/outdated to render video in widescreen and HD.

What video editing software do you use?

  • Well I tried to use the software that came with the Playsport, but it jumps and skips when I try to edit and make a movie. So I converted the file and made a movie in Windows Movie Maker, that's probably the issue. I don't know why my computer won't let me use the software that came with it. What software do you use? I think if I just upload the raw video from Arcsoft it will look okay. But I want to make movies. Maybe my computer specs aren't up to par?

  • @BFISHN

So it does work with Windows Movie Maker?

And I have not had the best experience with the Arcsoft video editor as well!

I use Movie Maker for editing small clips

  • Is there a tri-pod for this camera?

  • @RobYungTV

The camera has a universal tripod mount on the bottom so it's good!

  • much better that 1080 and only 30fps ;)

  • @crydepunkmuffin

    Yes, I agree

  • can't wait till mine arrives! I ordered it on amazon a few days ago.

  • @Flightkid9

oh nice! You'll love it :D

  • @CrazyiPodReviewer ya, I'm gonna have to test the underwater quality in the ocean :) hopefuly I can get a good shot of some orcas this summer!

  • What category do you upload your video's too? You have many views!

  • @ArmyAl3x

I upload them as "Science and Technology" because that's the category that they fit in haha

  • That looks great, not stuttery and the sound is alright

  • @mrjimmyos

Yeah it is pretty good! It would probably be even better if it was on a tripod

  • @CrazyiPodReviewer I'd definitely get it over the flip mini

  • @mrjimmyos

I agree! It does everything the Flip Mino does and more

  • @CrazyiPodReviewer Nice :D Also, that plus a waterbuoy keyring floatation device would be excellent!

  • What is better:

    720 p 60 fps

    or

    1080 p 30 fp?

  • @Clarimord

For YouTube, 720p 60fps is better however, if you have an HDTV 1080p 30fps looks pretty sharp.

You'll need a fast computer too if you plan on editing 1080p video

  • @CrazyiPodReviewer Thank you. I don't have a HDTV, so i will film in 720p. Thanks :)

  • wats the difference between 1080o and 720p because i want this camera before i go on vaca and i want to learn a little more about it

  • @a23d23

1080p and 720p are both HD but 1080p is better quality. Professional filmmakers use 1080p to broadcast on TV.

  • @a23d23

  • I'm confused, does the camera come with the charger/batteries or do you need to buy them somewhere else? like the KLIC- 7004 on their website?

  • @TheAubury232

The camera comes with one rechargeable battery but you can only charge it through the camera. You may want to look at my Kodak Playsport unboxing video because that will show you everything that comes in the box

  • do you need the sd cards to use the camera? can you charge the camera? and how long does it last with the internal re chargeable batteries?

  • @TheAubury232

You don't need an SD card but without one you only get about 10 secs of video recording time. You can charge the camera, Kodak also offers an extra charger on their website. The batteries last for about 5 hours and they charge in about an hour

  • For 16 bucks get 2 Japan batteries (kodak are Japan cells too) and a car/wall charger Search Ebay:

    2 Battery + Charger for Fuji NP-50 FinePix F50fd F100fd

The compatibility list says same battery as the KLIC-7004 which the Playsport uses. Works fine in my playsport. I like the car charger so I can take it in my boat or car.

  • lol what wind i cant even hear it

  • @boredvalleykid

hah I wasn't sure whether or not there would be wind noise so I just apologized anyway :D

  • hey man what does it shoot in? like .avi or .mov

  • @ArcticTrees

    It shoots in .mov

  • @ArcticTrees

yeah .mov is a downside to this camera

  • I bought this camera, and when I uploaded a test like the original test it looks good, but when i imported the video into Sony Vegas Pro 9 it degraded the quality alot. What can I do? PLEASE HELP.

  • @ktownskates

I'm not sure what to suggest. I have Vegas 9 too but I actually cannot even get it to work in Vegas at all unless I convert the file type.

  • @CrazyiPodReviewer Yeah same. But when I convert it its never HD or as good quality

  • walmart has them for 129 :) online only though

  • @hovercast

Wow! That's a really good deal! Too bad I did not know about this before I ordered my camera!

  • The price is up because its doing so well...i talked them down to 159.00...so i got lt and lv it...

  • @djtodd12002

Awesome! I'm glad you like it

  • I'm so mad that Best Buy raised the Playsport's price to $179.99.

Before , the price was $149.99. I don't see any reason why it was raised.

  • @FloobVideos

Wow! That's really stupid, try Amazon, that's where I got mine

  • I am wanting to get this camera soon, it looks and sounds really nice, overall, how happy with it are you and what do you use it for? Is there anything about it that you dislike?

  • @guitar11legend

I really like this camera a lot. I use if when ever I need to film anything whether it's YouTube videos or family movies. The only thing that I dislike about this camera is that it records in .mov and because of that I have to convert the video files before I can edit in Sony Vegas. But other than that, it's a great camera and I like it a lot.

  • Mine is having a zooming issue! It glitches and the image shifts slightly when it zooms in and out in every setting (except 1080p for some reason?), and it's very noticable in 720p 60fps. Have you noticed this at all??
