@erlendhaakon Well, I agree and disagree. There are still many who don't know the techniques to playing like that, so to them, it's something new and cool and maybe inspiring to them to learn it. However, a large population of drummers these days know of these techniques and aren't impressed with them unless you can keep continuous 16th notes or higher.
by the way aren´t you thinking to sell your kit? bcs im looking for an orange county drum set! im ín mexico but that´s not a problem! let me know greetings!
i want to get one like your friend did, even if it used no prblem but i dont want a a newport or avalon, bcs i have heard some things about them
dude your an awesome drummer, but your snare sounds like shit. like really terrible. i wouldnt even play something that sounded so bad. maybe maybe its just me though, and if you like it then ok. but seriously, to me it sounds worse than my old snare. i managed to tune it like a metal snare :D
well the snares were off until the very end. this was a vented snare that has a really opened loud sound. I also have a nonvented ocdp, that sounds diff. diff drums for diff situations. I saw ur kit, it truly is beautiful!
haha its not sped up man, just look at the rest of my vids, I can actually play faster than this, this vid has bad framing because it was shot with a digital picture camera, thanks for the comment-dar
dude, take you shoes of when playing, i find it easier to do heel to toe without footwear, + yype heal to toe on utube, theres some proper good lesson on how to pull it off
Nice one! I really love Orange County drums, the problem is we don't find them here in Belgium, closest is Paris :( Plus they do cost a lot of money.. But heck they're great, nice vid!
Awesome drumming. I like fast playing as much as the next guy, but I can't stand it when drum solos are all about trying to show off how fast someone can play the drums. Has everyone forgot we are musicians, and should be playing musically?
do you live in the u.s coz im in the uk and really want an orange county set if ur in the uk can you reccomend wher to get a cheap kit :P? reply please
Honestly...... if you want a Cheap OC check on ebay. Ive seen a few for a good price but I know that ebay can be sketchy.............and that is if you want a used one, Otherwise just order it from OCDP, they will make whatever you want and shipt to the UK.
Wow. i definitely know what kit i am going to upgrade to, when i do. that bass sounds truly majestic. and you DEFINITELY know your way around a drum set. awesome drumming, i can tell ur on a pro level.
I am actually just ussing my toes!! I always wanted to learn the heeltoe technique but never really tried it. I practiced playing with my toes when I was young and eventually developed speed that way. I can actually play faster than in this vid, Ill make a new one when I get a chance. thanks for the comment man- dar
I do the same thing man. I tell people I use heel toe cause its the only way to explain how to do it, but I just use all toe and just let my toes slip on the pedal when it rebounds
How do you like your 12x6? I'm currently building my own set and was thinking about a 12x8 but from what I hear the 12x6 sounds just as sick and is easier to tune from what I gather. I hate tuning my 12x10 right now so anything easier would be great but 12x6 is a cheaper shell than a 12x8
yeah it is easy to tune, and is designed to be tuned a little high...... a deeper drum will give a lower tone. I suggest maybe a 12x7. it will be very versitile for high and low tunning........ . I love my 12x6, it is very responsive and gives a good attack.....
NOT TRUE..sorry, but actually the shallower the drum the deeper the sound (what the dude said at memphis drum shop and i believe those guys, they know what they talking about) . BECAUSE it takes longer for the sound to get through the shell which produces a higher pitched note. theres a little FF for ya. (Fun Fact) lol
the shallower the drum the deeper the sound? not on planet Earth my friend, that is why bass drums and floor toms are cut deep, to provide a fuller/lower tone. dont trust what others tell you, just grad a pair of sticks, hit a deep drum and a shallow one and you will see which on has a lower tone. thanks for the comment-dar
haha i'm not arguing bc when i ordered my drum set i still went with my deeper shells like i wanted to bc i believe the same thing as you. but what he said makes sense...
haha no man, its a scientific fact that the bigger the area the bigger the sound waves the deeper the tone. thats why violins are higher pitched than guitars, cause the box is smaller.....
I've always thought that the depth of a drum affects the attack, like how sharp the sound is. Like a shallow drum would be a quick sounding ska (bear with me on my onomatopoeia's) while a deep drum would be a long bluh.
I would love to buy an OCDP kit, but I don't want to dish out 5,000 dollars for it. If i build my own kit, would i be able to get as good a sound out of it (i'm mostly worried about the edges, but i might have them done elsewhere) if I build my own? And for the amount of work, is it worth the money saved? Basically, should I build my own, or go with OC?

have you heard of sjc drums? they use the same shells as OCDP, but their drums are a lot more affordable.... you can also look into getting a used ocdp. my friend got a used 4 piece ocdp on eday for under $2000 and it is in perfect condition......
yeah i actually have been looking at them too. They also sound great. But my thinking was, since they both use keller shells, why not just buy some keller shells and build my own? And my main thing is the snare. I can't decide but i'm thinking even if i go with another drum company, i love oc snares so much I might just buy one anyway.
yuck. Those are worse than the pearls i have now. The whole point of buying a new kit is to upgrade, those cheap, mass produced kits aren't even touched by any of the guys in the orange county shop.
its a 14"/6" silver sparckle type 2 finish with blue stripes w/ 4-2"inch vent holes and a 15 ply keller shell with trick-throw off. I ordered it custom from ocdp- It was around a 6 month wait for this one....
These drums look and sound great! I also play in church every Sunday however I'm playing an electric Roland set. Not a huge fan of electric, they can do the job sometimes but it's NOTHING like an accoustic. Of course at church the sound guy just wants to be able to control everything so the complaints from old people stay to a minimum, I'm sure you know what I mean :) Just saw Angels And Airwaves live 2 days ago, great to have an idea of the cost of your drums too at $4500. Thanks!
yeah buddy I also own a roland v-drum kit that I use to practice in my appartment, and ur right-its not the same....... You can get a second hand OCDP for a good deal if you look around, my friend found a used 4 piece ocdp for $1900 and that thing is sweet!!! you just have to look around, SJC makes great kits too that are a lot less than OCDP... let me know if you have a any questions about OCDP's, I did all my research before purchasing..
um thats interesting, nobody has ever told me that. and to tell you the truth, I wasnt even drumming that fast in this clip, I was just showing my new drums. thanks for the comment man - dar
I got them straight from OCDP. its a six piece kit but I am only using 4 drums on this clip. they where around $4500 with mounts and all. I actually got to play on one of orange county drum sets in the NAMM show. they are sick drums. im probably going to buy this kind for my next drum set!

I have a 6 piece, I was at my friends in this clip and only took 4 drums. I have 2 rack toms 10"/6 and 12"/6", and two floor toms which are 14"/14" and 16"/14". I also have a 14"/6" vented snare and a 22"/22" bass drum. The finish is a type2 gloss wrap, thanks for the coment- dar
it was around $4500 with the dealer 30%off. it is actually a 6 piece, I am only ussing 4drums in this vid. i am not a little ritch kid tho, i worked very hard for my drums. thanks for the comment- dar
toms are evans g2 clears, snare is a remo coated emperor, bass is a powerstroke3 remo pinsrtipe. I use 2 ply batters with 1ply resonants. But heads dont mean a thing if the tunning is off. - dar

keller shells really sing when tuned.... the gauger mounting system also allows the shell to resonate freely.

toms are evans g2 clears, snare is a remo coated emperor, bass is a powerstroke3 remo pinsrtipe. I use 2 ply batters with 1ply resonants. But heads dont mean a thing if the tunning is off. - dar
