@Ben123planes - I see your point but I think you fail to realize that London offers a level of architecture, history, city parks, theater, day trips, public transportation and most importantly safety (check the crime statistics) that cannot be found in a major United States city of the same caliber - which many would argue there is not such a place. If you lived in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami or Boston for a year I think you would develop a new appreciation for your hometown.

@GLG1957 Thanks for the reply - but you might want to revise that London has good public transport - I went to amsterdam recently and you could count on a train, bus or train to a second, but british public transport (unless you have an oyster card) is hugely expensive and rarely on time! Thanks for the reply anyway.

@Ben123planes I made several trips in the 1980's and one about 5 years ago. I did buy passes and felt they were a good deal. I may have just had good luck. I also live in a Midwestern town with little or no public transportation so I was pretty easy to impress. Life is always relative.
