Landing at Leeds Bradford Airport

Kool so this is what you see when you're coming in to land at Leeds-Bradford airport! The University of Leeds Parkinson building and my house come into view at 20 seconds, very kool!

Also Stuart that little field you see around 35 seconds when its right in the middle of the screen with a large building to its right. Would you reckon it would be visible with huge text on there, say we wanted to give people coming in on planes a message?

And the glazing will more than likely be by Pilkington Glass heresgene, from St Helens.. They are world famous, i remember being a little kid in Greece running through patio doors due to me being a kid haha and my dad and us were from St Helens then so we got pilkington glass to fix it due to family also working there.

Good post. That place looks big too. I noticed the landscape resembled a giant face at 1:29. Pause the vid and look just to the left of the trees edge. Can you make out the eyes and the rest of the face? All the way from Orlando, Florida. I'd sure enjoy going city to city, town to town in the whole of UK.

Never noticed that before, but yes I see it when it's paused. Leeds is about the 5th largest city in the UK, a similar size to Phoenix in spread I think, but we have many neighbouring towns and cities that make it merge into one large conurbation. Glad you like the vid : )

Yes, I definitely like this vid. Thanks for your answer too. Every photo on Google Earth of Leeds is fantastic too. It looks like a wealthy city. I do commercial glazing (curtain walls, storefronts, etc.) and spotted some amazing glazing on the buildings there. Keep posting!!!

i once raced some boyracers down the country roazd at the back of Leeds and Bradford. I slowed down for them a few times to let them catch up only to realise it was an unmarked police car.

my mates got a souped up nova and we once made it from the bbc to leeds/brad airport in 3 minutes 25....granted, we were outside the airport watching the bbc on a portable black and white tv but...still, impressive.

1.30 Clayton Wood Quarry. Amzing place thats not used anymore except for motoxrossing and 4x4.

1.37 is the horsforth or cookridge hospital. The plane is now flying over horsforth. Infact its dead over the silk mills estate.

1.39 silk mill drive.

1.46 Top middle. The fire Station and the Satalite Communications tower. Also the water tower.The road in the middle is tinsle lane.

1.57 The plane is just coming over scotland road.

I start loosing my way now has the plane lines up for the runway. at 1.23 is the texaco gas station on the Leeds Ring Road Opposite it, is clayton wood industrial Estate.

The flight starts at leeds city centre market. You can see the red and yellow roofs of the outside market stalls. The flightpath crosses from the city centre across headingley towards horsforth hawksworth cookridge and then obviously the airport. if you was looking out of the left side you could see LUFC rom the city centre. But it does fly over headingly rugby grounds

You're not allowed to use devices with a radio transmitter (mobile phones and laptops etc), but many have a 'flight mode' so you can use them.

How can a camera interfere with the navigation system and controls??! It's just a camera?!

You're asked not to use electronic equipment during take-off and landing so that you're fully alert and can listen to instructions from the Captain in case of emergency landing / crash etc. They're entirely separate issues..

Actually that would never happen with a video camera do to the fact that Video Cameras don't try to look for signal outside the airplane, and dont send radio waves... Cellphones is a different story
