@CELLAHBANGAHPROD You are looking at it in an inaccurate point of view. NYC subway writing was not caused by Cornbread. He has nothing to do with that. According to Freedom, and yo, he gives an account on this and he's been writing long before Zephyr RTC came on the scene in the mid70s, an article by The New York Times interviewing Manhattan teen, Taki, was the catalyst for New York City youths.
@eddiemambo Nobody will learn from you, EddieSlummo. Ohio? I'm not from there but I'll take that as a compliment, you demented know nothing twerp. : )
Thanks Cellabangahpro for mentioning Cornbread. The book The Birth of Graffiti by Jon Naar consists of photographs that Jon shot in New York in the 1970s so they focus on New York. He does know about the roots of Graffiti in Philly and has actually met Cornbread. Many graffiti artists in Philly know and admire his work. The essays in this book does explain where these photos come in Graffiti history.
Great pics of the "Graffiti Youth" of the past. I also enjoy photographing graffiti & tags' on my travels around the world and any when ever I see a large or colorful display that looks like it took time and effort to put up. Thanx for sharing.
