  • Ey @Tehkseven Does the screencover at 3:49 contain the touch-screen functionality??? or it's just a screencover.

my question is because it's all scratched and i want to replace it or remove the scratches

    thanks :-)

  • Can I replace the plastic keyboard cover "qwerty cover assy" without disassembling the device? Thx for the vid.

  • forgot to mention the mic when mentioning the speakers and all that

  • well i tried it and it worked.. the only thing went wrong was i changed the places of screws to reassabmle and on the lower part next to keyboard the skin got poped up a bit like pimple :P.. guys my slide is not smooth what shoud i do for that ?

  • Nice video!

Nokia, in the technical guides, does state that screws (along with a few other elements) are disposable parts and should be replaced before reassembly.

  • well actually, what u say is the charger port is not correct, its the headphone jack. I know, i disassembeled my n900 cuz my chargerthingy broke off..

  • @Franz0on How did you get the micro USB port fixed? (BTW: Did you ever drop your phone with USB cable plugged in, or how did you break the port?)

  • @discoveryellow I've send in the phone to nokia carecenter cuz its to hard to fix myself, i dunno how so solder and it was a so small area to my bf to fix it too so we tought it was best to call nokia and see what they said and we send in the phone and now im waitng for the phone to get back.

And no, i did not drop the phone with the charger in, i tried to charg the phone and saw that the thing was loos inside the phoneshell.

  • hmm...used this guide to change housing but now my backlit keys wont light up and the screen doesn't turn on when flipped up... :(

  • What professional disassebly tools you've got=)))))

  • Just changed my screen cover\touch schreen, my phone looks like new now...

  • i wish if this video was shoten with a n900

  • Great video, Thanks!

One correction- screwdriver needed is PH000 not PH0

  • I had a nokia 6030 and it went thru the washer and dryer three times total, and when I got my new phone I decided to take the nokia apart. Turns out it was held together by 6 screws and high strength glue.

  • Very informative video. Thanks

  • I dropped my phone (n900) today on concrete floor .. it fell on it's back and not the front where the screen is .. Then the screen stopped working, as in the sensitivity went so if i touched the screen, it didn't work.. The phone still works! But the touching sensitivity is gone.. Shall i replace the screen with a new one, please someone help me?

  • @PSPhelp2008 reemplaza el touch creen , no la pantalla

  • great tutorial dude..:))

  • oh my goooood , he destroyed the phone this asshole ..

  • @mpouxliz He isn't destroy this phone, he only show how to dissasembly it ;) This is working properly after assembly.

  • i bet after he is done with this phone he will ebay it lol

  • hey, i need help. i was messing around with my n900 and i accidentally tore the smaller orange ribbon *regrets*. is it possible to get it replaced? how much would it cost?

  • LOL I would never do that to my N900

  • @robertico7 to chane the housing

  • My left speaker stopped working for some reason. Did anyone encounter this problem? If I disassemble it will I be able to find a spare speaker to replace the current one?

    thanks.

  • i need to change the metal piece that says nokia, because i dropped my n900, and its scratched =( but im not brave enough to do it myself.. lol

  • Just a note on reassembling: when you put the display and keyboard togheter, do it with slide opened, otherwise you won't see the clip on the top of the keyboard.

Anyway.. just changed my scratched digitizer and now it looks like new :)

  • @ctrlbru Did you do that yourself? Where did you buy the digitizer screen because I dont wanna pay alot money for it :(

  • @ctrlbru I have issues putting on the new digitizer, do you think it is the ribbon connector? Where did u get urs? OEM? china made? I bought LCD and digitzer at the same time.. screen works.. but the digitser has problems..

  • i want to ask every xpert of you that if we change the display of n900 will it perform same as an orignal one does?i mean have anyone of you found any problem after changing the lcd screen???

  • HOW CAN YOU DO THIS TO MY LITTLE BABY?!?!!?! YOU BASTARDS!!!! :'(

  • were is the antenna?

  • que miedo

  • Watch my NOKIA N900 LCD Replacement Video if you want to see how its done...obviously I am not a Nokia Engineer though!

  • good job jimmy!!!

  • Here's the second thing: What you named the "charger port" in the vid is the headphone/tv-out jack. Actually, where the USB charger port is, cannot be seen on the video! (should be next to camera/memory card slot) It seems to have been taken out before filming. Is the port soldered on the mainboard, or just clipped in the base body and touches electrical contacts on the mainboard? I'd really appreciate if you could clear this up for me - thanks!!

  • @UUN12345 can i ask you something?..can i change a new screen cover using my warranty at nokia care?...my nephew puts toothpick in my n900 hearing hole n press it ....

  • Thanks, great vid. Two things however: 1st: The video stops at 5:15 and doesn't go towards the end (5:37). Don't know if you can fix this, it's probably youtube's issue, or has to do with my unconventional browser. No matter, second thing (your responsibility) follows in a second comment.

  • i went with my nokia n900 at a local service.when it was disassmbled the guy from the service told me that because the part (i dont know its name..it`s the green one from 1:29) wass green the phone was dropped in water.i have to say that my battery life is max 6 hours (not using the phone at all ) and it can`t find any wi-fi connection (even though other phone find 6-7 conn available ).is that because the phone was dropped in water ?

  • I have done it. There was a dust particle under it, and i was so mad. I took it out, and now it';s working just fine. It's not hard at all, but those screws really made me mad. it took me over 1 hour to unscrew them out. and one more thing, you guys should know, the n900 has the best protection ever. I accidentally dropped it 2 time from a hight of over 1.50 meters. Nothing happened. Works just fine. THis is why i love Nokia. NOKIA, RESPECT with The N900 !

  • i was brave enough to imitate cause my screen was broke so i bought a new one, but to have it fixed i have to pay about 200 euro, so i decided to do it on my own. i know i know stupid me but 200 euro is not a small amount

Well, at the part of the screw wich need a immense lot of pressure i screwed up a screw. now im f*cked, anybody got an idea what i can do

  • @ 1:15 .... its a antenna... ^^

  • OMG.... i ve screwed up a screw.... jon you own me a screw... nah ... just kidding^^

  • are ou rich to buy these type of phones

  • yea now replace that screen with GLASS! hate the plastic screen on n900 ... phone is good but screen is a failure =D

  • what reason does one have to do this?

  • give it to me plzzz

  • no0w lets put it back together

  • why would anyone wanna do that and destroy the valuable N900! dumb.

  • really helpful in changing my touch screnn, Thanks!!

  • wehre is the 32 GB? xD

  • They never did the flex connectors. That is a very difficult and important step if you have to replace the lcd or touch screen. They also didn't fully take apart the framing. There are 2 parts to it, the top which they took off, and the bottom. Also, the screws are ph00, not ph0. I never had issues removing the screws.

  • bro... how much price 4 the speaker for n900,coz my speaker n900 is allredy damage, replay me at mohd_eddy2009@yahoo.com

  • Comment removed

  • The n900 or the samsung galaxy s PLS HELp and why the one is better than the other???PLS HELP!

  • @mistalake

I would go for the n900!

  • this music suckz!!!!

  • Is this compatible with AT&T 3G?

  • @MacOSXMason As to my knowledge it only works with t-mobile 3g.

  • Make this with Iphone. Shit man, Nokia N900, is the best!

  • used this video to Disassemble my N900 as i broke the screen on Saturday, I have a few points that might help others:-

All 6 screws on my screen were tight, i they used threadlock (kind of glue) to hold the in place, so when you re-tighten them do not do them to tight!!

I managed to make my screen worse while removing these screws as i had to put a LOT of preasure to turn them.! I was ok as the lcd screen was broken, if you are changing the touch sesnor section make sure you are careful!!

  • why should i disassembly my n900?

  • This video is really helpfull if you ahve broken your LCD screen. That is why you need guys like these!

  • @bigbadtonka ahh... yes, ur right xD

  • ive unscrewed a sony ericsson w810i !

  • I dont get this, some of your videos stop near the middle :f This and N900 Dust Test dont work all the way.

  • dudes... why can't I watch this video? everytime ive tried to watch it it stops playing at the time 1:49.. and yes it has buffered/loaded far beyond that time... I've tried to watch it on my PC and my iPod touch but it won't play on any of them.. do u have any idea what's the problem? I would really appreciate if you could figure it out so I could watch the whole video :)

  • @JAWADarkLord

Same here, I clicked the button twice that changes the video size, now the video is rolling again, strange

  • @JAWADarkLord i have the same problem i can't watch it at 3:40

  • how do you know this stuff

  • Would it be easy to get new screws if one of them gets stripped? thanks.

  • hi tehkseven, I was just wondering if you can help me to get rid of the creaking sound that I get while pressing the top center of the screen. In the maemo forum I read that tightening the screws will help but they are already too tight that I could't even unscrew them and it certainly sounds like something is not properly attached. Would you be able to tell why I get such creaking sound while pressing that part of the screen? thanks jay

  • @jaeezzy1

I`ve got the same problem as you.. I`ve read somewhere that inserting a piece of paper between the metal and the screen would solve this issue.. I`m still trying this..

  • @viniciusmro

    It worked.. uruuhh

  • hi, john

can you help me with the hardware repair video of Nokia E71 not charging ?

    thanks

  • "try not to worry but it sure scared us!"

    I almost died :'D

  • why would u do this to your phone?XD

  • @maartenrules He does this so we don't have to.

After all he gets paid by youtube or well has a job anyways ... soo he has enough money to buy a new one.

I shall say Respect to him. :P

  • man i have 1 question i had a problem with a nokia n900, the backlight werent working good i had to make some "presion on screen to see light" but when i stop to press it the light turns off again, how can i fix that?

  • hat jemand lust zu schreibn oder pic tausch mir ist soo langweilig

  • These type of video's are very helpful. It is a vid like this that help me repair my N96 a while back.

  • cool vid!! But i dont see the point in dismantling it completely like you have without any reason.

The base looks like its nothing lol, wierd watching the inside of a fone that ive ordered.

  • You guys forgot to remove the other antenna ("plastic piece" you weren't sure what it was). It is on the other end of the phone, but stays in its cavity even without screws.

  • @impulsive2urge

Never fails to amaze me how people just think you can keep cramming stuff together without any negative effects.

For starters, there is heat build up and interference. There is a LOT of careful planning where each chip and related board traces go, to avoid crosstalk, otherwise it just wouldn't work.

So please engage your brain before assuming because you see gaps they could just have crammed more junk in there. It will be empty for a good reason.

  • no, there's surely better way... It's just Nokia's style that they first release a chunky advance feature packed handset in the beginning, then they just try to make it smaller and smaller(n95 to n86 for example). The fact is they are very capable of cramming it, it's just that they don't do it because it's part of their marketing and strategy. See how the iphone is nicely engineered, very good use of space. I'm not a fan of iphone, In fact i love n900 but it needs to use space wisely.

  • how many n90 do u have man XD

  • why ? why ? :((

  • What is this??? where is the stylus??

You did all that to the phone and left the stylus behind??

    I'm sad :(

  • Sweet tool (that's what she say)

Imagine how small that phone would be with just the screen and no keyboard. (1:40ish)

All the power of a netbook in that small board.

When did you take it apart?

OH yeah not a good idea, but the last test (lol) should be a static or magnetic test. Nothing you won't find yourself passing by. I'm not talking one of the magnets they use in construction something a little bigger then what's on a frig.

  • This phone without keyboard would be just another iPhone-like. The keyboard is the key reason I'll personnaly buy it.

  • Well of course I can't do without a keyboard. I tried that with the 5800 and a bluetooth keyboard, but that didn't go so well. I just know they gonna do a keyboardless one so I just thinking how small it'll be with the same UI. Oh and again don't compare Apples with Oranges.

  • who is brave enough to imitate them? My heart is broken down when I watching this cruel video. T_T

  • @quanganhzero1989

    just did it XD

  • @quanganhzero1989 you think, it's cruel? Noooo... :) To install native keymat (instead of french one) on my N97, i had to rip it off the chassis. And it's really normal procedure - google the service manual, you'll see why :)

P.S. Although it works fine after all

  • @quanganhzero1989 i did but i was EXTREMELY CAREFULL i have a little bit of knowledge on electronics so it wasnt that hard but anyways, i had my ass in the hand while i was doing it hehe

  • @quanganhzero1989 I am, I already did it once and im doing it againg when i'm painting my N900 :D

  • i've bEen waiting for this forever!

  • thanks for the video... atleast i should know what's in my N900
