This Game is one of my favorites. the simplicity makes it such a great game. You can take a break from complicated think hard games like final fantasy IX and Dragon warrior III and things. but this game is just a "plop on the couch and click the power button and play for hours without thinking" kind .
this dude doesnt sound like a nerd :) and keeps the sound track going the same level without making sound affects and not making the sounds too low...thanks for doing this man...
I don't know why this game has such a bad rep. Yeah, it's easier than Final Fantasy 4 or 6, but it's not SUPER easy, and definitely not boring. I really like the combination of puzzles and combat in this game. It's really fun to use your weapons for different things.
I think Japanese game makers at Square figured that FFIV was too challenging, dialogue-oriented for western gamers. I think at the time, they were right. The interest just wasn't there. They took a bit of a gamble bringing some of the final fantasy games to western shores and I'm quite glad they did.
Anyways, Mystic quest was the first Final Fantasy game I ever played and it's a fun game. It's not nearly as complicated and awesome as its snes counterparts, but still a gem worth discovering!
I used to play this game when it first came out, not sure how old I was, probably 7-8. Final Fantasy isn't that challenging, I remember playing one of the first Final Fantasy's when I was really really young, a couple of years before this came out. So I don't think this was the first on US shores. But one of the greatest. I remember my parents playing earlier ones...lol
I remember, before I knew of the final fantasy franchise, my brother wanted this game because it had a guy holding up a sword on the cartridge. Real easy game, but its pretty fun.
Hey cool! Someone finally makes a Mystic Quest playthrough. Yeah, it's UBER simple. But that doesn't mean you should condem it to heck, amirite? Besides, most RPGs become pathetic if you just level up enough.
This game is awesome, even if it is extremely beginner. I like it because I grew up with it, had to sell it, never saw it again until like a year ago. And since I was the right age for it to be hard at that time, I got the game, put it in my FC twin, and finally beat it.
Oh, someone made a series, basically pointing out all the cons in the game, you don't control your partner (Dummy had his settings on auto), your partners are always ultra strong, they use a mountain crashing to teach you to jump, stuff like that. The only reason I continued to watch that was because of the fact that I couldn't find it anywhere else.
Lots of good memories with this game, Always hated how the max level was like 43... not that you needed to be that level before the end boss

I always kept the party members on Auto to make the game harder.
It worked.
"No, don't use your 700 damage spell on the LAST enemy in the battle if he has 100 HP left! Nonono you IDIOT!"
"No! Stop using cure potions! They're useless!"

Benjamin is his name, which I do think is stated in the manual.
The first battle can actually screw you over if the enemy scores a critical.
Focus Tower has awesome music.

Dave, do you still need a new computer?
tikiman900 3 years ago
To do Game Replays of Psx games and such I might need to buy a better PC. Or perhaps buying a Graphics card might do the trick.

I agree. Cut the game some slack. There's a lot of Pros about it.

What a pain that sounds like. Hahah. Had it set on auto....
DavetheUsher 3 years ago
Well, he just was all like "You can't control your partners, you should be able to control your partners!"
CHANGE THE SETTINGS IF YOU WANT THAT!
Also, what is your favorite weapon in the field?
PixelHead777 3 years ago
That claw thing you can shoot outward.
DavetheUsher 3 years ago
Yeah.
That is the best field weapon.
They studied their LoZ.
Only problem is that it's the weakest weapon.
PixelHead777 3 years ago
You read my mind. I mention that in one my next parts that's uploading now.
DavetheUsher 3 years ago
Does a heckload of abnormal statuses though, and boosts magic power too. It's a fair trade, over time.
Jadriam 3 years ago
Well, they wouldn't give you a really weak weapon AFTER a weapon much stronger if it didn't have a use in battle other than attacking.

game is soooo old i was 3 lol cant wait to see this
