@GuArDiAnV3 it is wing chun, chi sau and di sau, yes there are no blocks but four corners is a parry, If you are a wing chun praticer? surely you no what it feels like when you get hit with a decent chi sau and di sau when done correctly
not to be "that guy" but last time i was in a fight, the guy didnt throw his arms at me sideways. ive been boxer for a few years and i have learned that if im in a street fight, i may just want to dodge the punches then actually trying to block them.
@hippynoize That is only because you are trained to dodge more than block, in Wing Chun most of the drills revolve around hand work such as blocking and trapping, whereas you are more comfortable dodging I am more comfortable blocking and trapping, doesn't mean one is better than the other, just whatever works for you
@hippynoize this four corners thing on the video is actually from the Krav Maga episode. WC is about defending your and controlling their centre line, I used to box too, for about 3 years and I did love it,, just asked myself what I would do if ever I was attacked in a place where I couldn't so readily use my footwork, but both methods have served me well
Video title is wrong. This episode was not for wing chun. It was for Krav Maga if I recall correctly. Although you could possible use similar techniques to describe the same thing in wing chun. EVERYTHING here is incorrect. Best way to learn wing chun is go to a dojo, period. You have to practice it to be good at it. IT is a weak art, to make it mediocre you have to practice everyday. Don't believe me? Try it yourself.
OK all of you people who replied to my comment negatively, get a life and get off the bandwagon trying to insult. What I said was a fuckin joke alright? And anyway I would beat the shit outta all you punk batches so shut up and stop criticizing so god damn much
this for corner defence is the most basic in wing chun , i have not been doing it long but on my 3 lession me and my partner was put to work onthis very basic @TheDJFlyinHawaiian when doing this right and your arms at the right angle and useing the right part its inpenertrable......
krav maga is born from wing tjun but it has a lot of mistakes cause is not the complet system. In wingtjun we use this defense but strking with the freehand at the same time and taking some angle to the defendinghand side por anulate the distance of attack of the other punch
@elcuervopardo666 - How is Krav Maga born from Wing Tjun? Krav Maga was created by Imi Lichtenfeld who was a boxer and grappler. Imi trained several elite units of the Hagana and Palmach (striking force of the Hagana and forerunner of the special units of the IDF), including the Pal-Yam, as well as groups of police officers.
Krav Maga is much of a fighting system than Wing Chun or any of its derivatives would be.
@iApna krav maga is one of the first mixed martial arts styles. i've heard many compare krav maga to wing chun because of it's great directness and some moves performing similar functions. what best describes it is it's military function, so to compare it to other military styles is the best way to treat it. however as it's been taught more to civilians nowadays i believe the whole style is facing change. maybe there's no relation to wing chun historically, but all martial arts shares something
@iApna krav Mata just copied a bunch of martial arts moves and some weapon defence skills and called it a martial art. Even wikipedia says it derived some of its moves from kung fu(wing chun) . So its no coincidence that it looks a lot like wc.
@elcuervopardo666 - Wing Chun is really nothing more than a basic self-defense system made for woman. The training provided in Wing Chun would not protect you against real fighters who only have even 1 year of training. Look at the fight between Boztepe and William Cheung. It was a complete joke.
@iApna true wing chun is really designed to take the simplest methods from shaolin kung fu. something to mix in and integrate with practitioners previous training for example. that's one of the reasons i believe wong shun leung became such a dangerous fighter after learning wing chun. but u know wing chun has come a long way since it's creation. slowly more and more techniques have been added. that's why when u go to one wing chun school their application and even the techniques itself differ
@DonMega187 - The problem with traditional arts like Wing Chun is that the entire style is ridged due to the set principals of the art. The minute your stance, or striking takes another shape/form outside of Wing Chun techniques, its like complete blasphemy. Yet, your opponent defense, structure, timing, movement, dictates your offense. Example try to use centerline concepts with a boxer who moves like Manny Pacquiao or Ramon Dekkers. Solution: You break Manny's legs and you grapple Dekkers.
krav maga has take this defens from wing tjun. This is not wingtjun because the defender is not strike at the same time of the defense. But this way of defending is used in wingchun when your elbow angle is not enough
This is Krav Maga and although it's part of a defense, the way they show it here is part of a drill to practice the defense and become proficient in it.
@TheDJFlyinHawaiian its something you practice. you cant just learn wing chun by watching some vague silver surfer resembling animation do it on your computer screen.
@TheDJFlyinHawaiian shitt i try this and i dont get hit the defence is baddass you just need to learn the basics of wing chung and ull be somwhat unstopable
It's Wing Chun-ish. Bil sao and gan sao blocks. But no foot movement, not blocking on the centre line means that if there's any force on those rounds or uppercuts, the blocks will crumble.
@ Dwearable Krav Maga's so called "360 defense" is derived from Wing Chun. How ever this video is a very poor adaptation of it. Krav Maga is a very good and deadly fighting style that's adapted a few of Wing Chun's techniques, but don't compare Wing Chun to Krav Maga. Learn both styles and choose which one you are most proficient with.
The guy throwing the hooks is not the wing chun guy. It's the other guy. The "other guy" is meeting the first guy's attacks with minimal effort due to the "oblique angles". What the narrator means to say is that by taking the shortest route from A to B, you maximize power, speed, and accuracy of your attack/defense due to the natural ergonomics of which Wing chun utilizes. Wing chun, literally, makes your opponent kick their own ass due to misuse of their own energies and your techniques pwning.
Tthat's not how a wing tsun practitioner would deal with a threat. An attack is naturally absorbed and you train the body to react in a way where you aren't harmed, not blatantly throwing bong saos and tan saos.
@thatkindofguy234 krav maga is not a style on its own its a compilation of different styles of fighting and techniques. The blocks demonstrated in the video exist in wing chun and possibly implemented to krav maga from there.
@WingTsunPanda I see no fook sao in the video and no clan of wing chun supports the idea of elbows being away from the centreline. Then it just wouldnt be wing chun. And what is the upper gate defence he is using in the video. its not lap sao cause it uses the forearm rather than the hand to grap the arm and its not tan sao cause the palm is not extended outward. Its just a regular blocking technigue, this does not belong in any wing chun clan.
Ever heard of Biu Sau ? Although version in this video deviates too much from centerline, it CAN deviate if it's necessary (example:real fight full force hook punch), but even then it shouldn't go towards the punch, but rather cut it at the biceps, so, it's not really a 100% block, but an interceptor. Bottom line, version in this video is waaay out of center and the elbow should be slightly bent, not at 90 degrees shown here...
@darkstar123455 bong sao, elbows not in the center line, the wrist is. the upper block is suppose to be a dai sao but the arm is extended to far out from the center line.. this is because the animated clip isn't off the wing chun episode..think its off the krag maga one :P
you are very blind in the ways of wing tsun my friend :) wing tsun gives you the tools its up to you how to use them. you remember u have an elbow and wrist that can twist and bend after a block. this video wasnt showing how wing tsun fights or any combos after a block just a block. ( ive used them b4)
This aint wing chun. Even if I didnt know this was krav manga i could tell this isnt wing chun because the elbows are not in the centerline and the only move in wing chun which does not have elbows in the centerline are elbow strikes and bong sau. So blocking a punch like this is completely opposite to what wing chun and any southern shaolin school teaches.
This is not Wing Chun, since it violates this concept: Loy lau hoi sheung lut sao jik jeung.
The defender is taking his hands way too far from the centerline. This is out of a Wing Chun practitioner's comfort zone. Once the attacker's hand leaves the centerline like this, the WC practitioner would just go straight in, since a straight punch would land before the rounded ones would.
@bopeuph ur opponent's timing or speed may be faster. that's why one shouldn't put all his faith on attacking through center and hoping to be faster while not even bothering to defend. ur opponent may also dodge ur punch at same time he punches, like boxers typically move from side to side for example. btw this is actually krav maga. i remember watching this episode. if i'm about to attack with left but see him attack with right i typically change my left to defense and attack with right instead
the two top blocks are close but this isn't wing chun lol this is some crazy shit. Its more along the lines of a sambo block, its definitely not wing chun, if the blow was lower like and uppercut it would be a gum sau, or ngoy loy gut sau blocking it not that shit. Maybe a gahng sau to.
all i see is a bunch of ignorant people trying to say that no one throws hooks or uppercuts. how much sense does that make? im sure each and every one of you would throw a hook in a fight and i could block it using this technique
@816481648164 I would probably try to catch you off guard instead of throwing a hook when you're obviously prepared for it. It's also not like in this video where you block 3-4 shots. Either the attacker would switch technique's or you could take use of that epicly large opening.
@williamwzl this technique actually cuts reaction time down by about 1 to .5 of a second. so if this were used in a fight, even if they were caught off guard, they'd have a way better chance of blocking it
@816481648164 if u have studie wing chun u would know that a skilled wing chun fighter will be able to block hooks and uppercuts with tan sau and gan sau
@816481648164 dont confuse the hooks with the sucker punches
the hook its a profesional and a fast technic that uses all you body to strike and its used in close range so that your rival dont see it coming and the sucker punch or round house punch its the punch that most of the people do in an street fight and as you say its easy to block them
so dont confuse them buddy, one is made with technic but the other not
@lorenzo2k9 Hook the same, it´s very fast and trys to go over his attacking arm to ignore the backing(?) of his shoulder. when you do muaythai and the enemy attacks with a left jab, and you counter with a right hook over his arm to hit him.
@816481648164 assuming u can, a right hook has a lot of power in it since the power isn't in the arm but rather the twisting of the torso, if someone were to put full force in that punch and blocked incorrectly it could break your arm, or simply just go through and hit you anyways
@816481648164 yeah you could block it. If I stood there like a tool and threw a badly telegraphed one. hooks and uppercuts are all about the angle and movement they come from.
@uzamaki32 Which is quite true. The lower block is usually done by using a Gang Sao, followed by the Jun Ma stance to deflect away the attack. Of course, it is simultaneously followed by an attack. So yeah it's bullcrap, his shoulders are totally open, alien to Wing Chun in most techniques
@ChujCiWJedzenie step aside with a wing turn and grab your elbow joint and manye options like break your arm,or kicking on the lower side of the feet that you fall ,or give you a punch drill on your head
@quater21 it is similar, I learn this when i first started, it's dai sau and jeet sau, but instead of keep on blocking we block and punch at the same time
The human body only has two arms and two legs. Therefore there're only so many movements you can make and fewer still that are at all practical.
With this in mind it's easier to see how different systems frequently have similar or identical techniques. So it's not really fair to call some techniques as belonging to one system over another.
Vey good...

@816481648164 nop, I would problably just wait for the attack, grab it, twist it, and nail yah to the ground while your arm and "breath" is mine ;P
Reddasx 8 months ago
@816481648164 Im pretty sure you couldnt because an upper cut is very fast and in short distance its only blockable with your ellbows ;)
GEILxDD 8 months ago
@GEILxDD thats why he said if you threw a HOOK
lorenzo2k9 7 months ago
@lorenzo2k9 Hook the same, it´s very fast and trys to go over his attacking arm to ignore the backing(?) of his shoulder. when you do muaythai and the enemy attacks with a left jab, and you counter with a right hook over his arm to hit him.
GEILxDD 7 months ago
@816481648164 assuming u can, a right hook has a lot of power in it since the power isn't in the arm but rather the twisting of the torso, if someone were to put full force in that punch and blocked incorrectly it could break your arm, or simply just go through and hit you anyways
kilsikon7 6 months ago
@kilsikon7 well that maybe be true but the best punches are ones where you dont move your elbow
Inpatientsnake 6 months ago
@816481648164 yeah you could block it. If I stood there like a tool and threw a badly telegraphed one. hooks and uppercuts are all about the angle and movement they come from.

Please do not use this in a fight unless you are fighting some dumb motherfucker who doesnt know how to swing. I mean who really punches like that?
stronnize 1 year ago
btw - who the fuck throws punches like that
ChujCiWJedzenie 1 year ago
It seems very much like modified wing chun. The lower block is most definitely Gaun Sau.
Crapmynameistaken 1 year ago
this bullcrap wing chun doesnt deffend like that!!
uzamaki32 1 year ago
@uzamaki32 Which is quite true. The lower block is usually done by using a Gang Sao, followed by the Jun Ma stance to deflect away the attack. Of course, it is simultaneously followed by an attack. So yeah it's bullcrap, his shoulders are totally open, alien to Wing Chun in most techniques
mamamada 1 year ago
friggen this isn't wing chun... cause wing chun we do not only block we also do a synchronized strike
MrAnthonyLe 1 year ago
Wing chun does not have a 360 defense
randy13209 1 year ago
what will you do when i will punch you in the face with the right straight punch ?
ChujCiWJedzenie 2 years ago
@ChujCiWJedzenie step aside with a wing turn and grab your elbow joint and manye options like break your arm,or kicking on the lower side of the feet that you fall ,or give you a punch drill on your head
uzamaki32 1 year ago
@uzamaki32 the truth is the sports like box or kickboxing, muay thai , are the best self defense .
ChujCiWJedzenie 1 year ago
@ChujCiWJedzenie yeah i already realize that ,look up my new channel
BJJdenis than you see what i mean
BJJdenis 1 year ago
@ChujCiWJedzenie Lol basic human instincts duck or blocks man. I mean seriously, in a real fight, wing chun combines with some human instincts.

quater21 2 years ago 62
@quater21 it kinda is.. its more or less showing the four gates theory..how attacks to the four regions of your body can be defended against.
rlm1993 1 year ago
@quater21 yes it is
holywar911 1 year ago
@quater21 it is similar, I learn this when i first started, it's dai sau and jeet sau, but instead of keep on blocking we block and punch at the same time

The human body only has two arms and two legs. Therefore there're only so many movements you can make and fewer still that are at all practical.
With this in mind it's easier to see how different systems frequently have similar or identical techniques. So it's not really fair to call some techniques as belonging to one system over another.

Is Wing Chun
Lthaakon 2 years ago
it's krav maga!!
ColdBlood7 2 years ago
is this Wing Chun or is it Krav Maga? I saw the show and I believe it's Krav Maga's 360 defense.
