  • 8 people pressed the eject button...

  • do you know something about rq 170 ?

  • i remember my uncle telling me stories when he saw it during the secret *project* of the oxcart

  • I am looking for the last videos taken of a SR-71... I think there should be something from early 2001?? maybe??

  • When you take this video???

  • vitesse de pointe mach3=3571 km/h ;)

  • Comment removed

  • 10:15:00 AM - And here comes the SR71 at its top speed of 2000mph!

10:15:01 AM - And here is the SR71 Landing!

  • I think the Blackbird is one of the best looking planes ever made!

  • one of these flew over my house when i was a little kid, scared the shit outta me... what a menacing plane haha

  • Black Ops: "Our SR-71's in the air"

  • BUUUULLSHIT

    SU-25 FOR EVER

  • @KingJuLiO18 F*CK russian jets

  • @metalmon fuck american jets they ´re bigger shit than your mother!

  • @KingJuLiO18

You mean that ugly piece of shit that was slower? Yeah.... ok. Deal with it.

  • @cavalrytm your mother is slow BIATCH!

  • @KingJuLiO18

LOLZ. I think I need a few hours to decide if I give a shit...

  • In the time it took you to watch this video, this thing could travel like 120 miles...

  • @shoogdon at top speed and altitude its going around 35 miles a minute.

  • Mother of god...

  • The SR-71 remains the world's fastest and highest flying fixed-wing aircraft ... That is, an aircraft which can take-off AND land under its own power ... This is something neither the X-15 nor the NASA's space shuttle can do; they are both classified as rockets ...

  • if only they let it go Mach 1

  • Wow.

  • ..cool..!!!!!!!

  • Advance UAV online :P

  • @BabyZoey520 the advance UAV is actually a nEUROn,or an RQ-170 if you prefer. The blackbird is an entirely different story

  • @BabyZoey520 stfu

  • X-15 to some was a plane but it was not very "flyable". It was really a rocket with a man inside. No 180 turns, varying altitudes, etc. like a true airplane. It's sole purpose was to go fast and high in basically a straight line. Guess it's an individual's opinion.

  • Looking at recent contributions:

    - Fastest air-breathing engine aircraft.

    - Thermal issues & inlet design limited the engine operations at 3.2 Ma. However recent work (Colville, 2005 I believe) indicates that considerations on the inlet could extend the speed range (probably accompanied by progress in material science).

  • oh to all who keep saying the x15 is the fastest plane wrong the sr71 is the fastest true plane its the only one that can take off all by itself the others had to hitch a ride to get into the air and with two 80 thousand pound thrust engines that the sr71 has theres no contest

  • @tibwatoo X15 Mach 6.7 IS the fastest. The method to get airborne has nothing to do with speed records.

Anyway, did you know the X15 was the testbed for the Space Shuttle in terms of landing tactics and re-entry experiments?

SR-71 is an awesome jet. Like a knife slicing through the air. I've read stories that indicate we really don't know the true speed limit of the SR-71. I personally believe it sas much higher than Mach 3 but I'm sure it wasn't M6.7

  • yes the sr71s are still in flying condition but unfortunately they are museum exhibits now and sadly may never fly again they were retired for two reasons one was the cost to operate them and satellites made them obsolete according to the government

  • I swear if the people who plan the superbowl could persuade NASA to loan their SR-71 blackbird to take part in the flyover it would be the most BADDASS super bowl opening in history. a blackbird doing mach 1 right over your head is a site to behold.

  • So cooool.

  • Such a shame that these beautiful aircraft get grounded

  • batman's airplane....

    This thing looks totally badass.

  • X-men!

  • Sexiest planes IMO

    1 SR71

    2 B1 Bomber

    3 f22

    4 F15

  • and we stopped using these for what reason?

  • @cammoman45 they were fighter jets used in war for i guess bombing ... they were not commercial ones

  • @PistonAndPistol Your guess is quite incorrect. The plane carried no guns or bombs.

  • @PistonAndPistol i know they were recon planes used from vietnam to the cold war, and stopped in 1998, seems stupid to me they did, they were the higest flying, almost 100 pecent unditectible spy planes we had.

  • I used to tell "arrow-to-the-knee" jokes, until I took a fist to the face.

  • The SR-71 was one hell of an aircraft, aside from looking so fucking badass, the performance was incredible.

  • @the308capital ..I'm pretty sure the SR in SR-71 stood for " strategic reconnaissance" , just like F stands for " fighter" and B for " bomber" and so on.

  • @tranceaddict704 The original designation was RS-71, but when LBJ first spoke of it publicly, he mistakenly referred to it as the SR-71. And rather than correct the President, they simply changed the notation to SR-71.

  • I use to fly one of these back in the day, until i took an arrow to the knee.

  • @metalmon The arrow to the knee joke is over, go home.

  • just think about it they first used this in the 60's :D its goddamn old

imagine what they could have now in use, wich they dont show to the public

  • @alexaka1000 ..Having your mine set, leads to:::gee we went to the Moon during the 60's and 70's, so just think were NASA's space program is at today...??...I'M just saying???after 45 years, we must have people on Mars??? Today,if there is something better then the SR-71, its an unmanned drone, and not near as exciting as the Habu..THX

  • No matter how old this plane is, it still looks like something from the future.

  • *going like 1/20 usual cruise speed* :)

  • Wow, anyone who has seen this bird fly in person is one lucky duck. Very cool.

  • Este avião não esta mais em funcionamento?

  • fucking ayyy

  • You may not know this but a swedish viggen fighter intercepted an sr-71 during the 80:ies and got a radarlock. Pretty cool...and i´m from sweden!! Nice plane btw! :D

  • @qurrecp The SR must have been parked!

  • @sakoshooter48 Google it! ;)

  • R.I.P heaphone users

  • Here a interest tidbit. The SR-71 wasn't the actual name for the Blackbird it was RS-71 LBJ president said it wrong and it was forever known as SR-71 Blackbird. I found out by reading the the book on the history and secrets of the Blackbird Skunk-works engineers and developers on the famous Blackbird. Cool plane.

  • @jstevensnj I heard that also many years ago. They didn't want LBJ to look like the asshole that he was so they changed the name to save him the embarrassment. Awesome plane: RS-71, worst president: LBJ.

  • I wonder if it sprayed people with JP-7 fuel leaking from it's tanks...

  • Comment removed

  • @pipercub123456

You are correct! and now you know the real reason for the demise of the Blackbirds.

During the mid 80's scientist discovered that cesium enters the food chain causing health problems.

What was the Top Secret code name for the JP-7 additive "A-50"?

    The answer is- "Panther Piss".

  • @pipercub123456 Solution? Move take off field to Mexico. Done. And I would assume the Blackbird was exempt from anything the EPA says. It was an experimental aircraft. If it were put into mass production, yes, maybe then the EPA would have been able to say something.

  • @bloodynuggets ..The SR-71 was operational with the USAF for 24+ years..Hardly an X-type A/C..my comment about the EPA was meant in jest..my way of saying the Cold War years where so different, then what we experience in todays politically correct times

  • sky bird-ruin74.ops normal at 14.say again........spell your call sign

  • tower: black bird 01 you are still flying too fast!

black bird 01: tower any slower and I might as well park.

  • The Habu is one Bad Ass jet! Mach 3+, 80,000+ feet and untouchable. Smile you communist bastards...your picture's being taken.

  • @MickGalaxy today we have satellites, so.. whatever

  • @luiz991854 But satellites have to keep moving around the earth. This things could circle around and keep taking pictures for a large amount of time.

  • @lordcakedude75 there are thousands of satellites around earth dude

  • @MickGalaxy Only Space Shuttle beats high and speed :D

  • @jasse50 wrong. The X-15 was a mach 6+ aircraft. Beath this by 3 times the height and over 2 times the speed. Do some research you douche.

  • @superskullmaster

Technically both the Shuttle and X-15 are rockets...

  • Comment removed

  • @EvilxMerlin Well no shit. He was stating that only the Shuttle beats the speed and alt of the SR-71. I corrected him in saying the X-15 beats the SR-71 in both, not just the Space Shuttle. I didn't say it was a faster jet, we are talking pure speed and alt, not propulsion.

  • @superskullmaster ah cala a boca meu filho q o blackbird ultrapassa qualquer aviao sem acelerar di verdade...

    seus nub di merda

  • so this plane was primarily for reconnaissance,But i still doubt despite it's technology and extreme speed it could still keep up with Chuck Norris

  • @SuperEnterprise01 ..You're totally right, the SR-71 could never catch Chuck Norris, but then again Chuck Norris is still trying to catch up to Jackie Chan, which could never happen....

  • ale zapierdala

  • This plane makes me happy face.

  • Cool.

  • acording to google translate (not trying to be a noob) JACOBS431 said: A marvel of engineering Ahead of his time.

When I left this plane seemed to be OUT-OF SCIENCE FICTION, ERA is impressive for its shape and its velocity.

  • UNA MARAVILLA DE LA INGENIERÍA ADELANTADA A SU TIEMPO.

CUANDO SALIO ESTE AVIÓN, PARECÍA SER SACADO DE CIENCIA FICCIÓN, ERA ALGO IMPRESIONANTE POR SU FORMA Y POR SU VELOCIDAD.

  • DID HE EJECT AT THE END!?

  • the book Area 51 is sooo good and explains all the blackbird shit.. u guys should read it***********

  • Its got to be my favourite aircraft of all time.

  • why the canadian flag?

  • what airshow is that

  • @brennie666 - Abbotsford BC

  • ooh to be the guy that actually flys that thing!

  • tight lipped to this day about it's performance...

  • I find it odd that the fastest jet looks like a p.... -_-

  • @M95toDAhead Friend, if my junk looked like that I'd see a doctor :p

  • Behold the Eternal glory of JETFIRE!!!!!

  • Like if you came here from black ops

  • @Daniel21593 Black ops sucks.

  • @Daniel21593 ...

  • nice

  • mankind was having a good day when they invented this!

  • @j0nb0y77 And they had a shitty day when they grounded her.

  • @j0nb0y77 agreed! ...and an unlimited budget :-)

  • @j0nb0y77 indeed

  • I hear this and the B-1B Lancer are basically the loudest jets. People say it literally makes their bones shake.

  • That is an RC plane. Sr 71's do not exist. Officially.

  • power of lightning was from brake release to 36000ft was 180 seconds this was and is impressive performance English electric lightnings were impressive f1o4 were not. downward firing ejection seats oops at low level sorry

  • FLT LTNT MIKE HALE in an electric lightning beat f104 star fighters in a climb outright speed only in a supersonic acceleration at low level was the star fighter able to compete and then it was a dead heat race Jacqueline Cochran in 1064 could only manage 1429mph a lightning could exceed this on a bad day and CONCORDE could do 1500 mph only the lightning could do it sorry

  • sorry sir the only plane at this time to catch CONCORDE at this time was a lightning no american or French jets could catch or make a rear end interception on Concorde the u2 spyplane also had a shock when flt ltn Hale on a NATO exercise looked down from 8000ft above the u2 plane which was at 80000ft at that time he was 88000ft it gave the american pilots a shock all history now

  • @motorguzzi100 What an inane statement! If you have two vehicles moving through a given space at a given time at a similar airspeed, what is your point?

  • @motorguzzi100 I think you might be thinking of the X-15? The SR-71 took off from the ground, though it leaked fuel like a sieve until that titanium got heated up. I grew up not far from Beale AFB, so I saw the Blackbird every day growing up. Even saw one crash! (Sad day.) Thanks to the poster for giving me a chance to see and hear this beauty in the sky again!

  • I had no idea that the tail of the sr71 moved in such a way

  • hes going as slow as it can go

  • Such a pretty plane!

  • This is my favorite killstreak in cod black ops

  • @CODHALOFANATIC123 again?

  • Stationed at Beale when the SR71 was operational. Loved to watch it pass over the housing area and from my office at the front of the base hospital, watching it do touch and goes with my binoculars. Greatest plane in the world.

  • @CODHALOFANATIC123 and that one gotta be you with that stupid nick, get a life son

  • but the sr-71 is flying with his gear out?

  • I count you as being lucky in attending this airshow. Loved the vid up to the part of the Canadian flag, what was up with that?

  • @sking0369 Don't be disrespecting the Canadian flag man I don't disrespect the American flag When ever I see one. They were at an airshow here in Canada and I've saw many American fighter pilots fly the Canadian flag from their jets at airshow's here. It's a show of respect and perhaps you should learn it yourself? not trying to start a fight maybe if the USA stopped acting like a bunch of thugs and showed some respect to the rest of the world maybe you guys wouldn't be labled STUPID! try it out

  • @Nuclearrc Touchy Touchy now are we? The SR-71 is a source of American pride and so is the flag. Sorry I didn't know this was in Canada.

  • @sking0369 A fairly common tradition of respect and comradery amongst allies. Where have you been?

  • who ever recorded the SR-71, i would like to say thank you for recording one of the most spectacular aircraft ever made by man.

    i salute you.

  • Cool Bird

  • O.O

  • wut a great vid to have

  • First flyby was fucking sexy

  • The most beautiful airplane of every times !

  • them folks are so lucky to see that

  • Could it reach Mach 4 if we re-skinned it in space shuttle tiles?

  • @bellaggio1770 i think that even if we did that the plane would simply going to fast and the tiles would just sheer off

  • i <3 the sr71

  • Canada?? The Blackbird was made and flown in the Usa. but im Canadian so i cant really say much..=|

  • So if the fuel tanks leaked untill the friction created heat to seal them then how can they fly it at such slow speeds (relative to what it normally flies)? They cant go faster than mach 1 at an airshow at least that is what I have been taught. So when does the tanks seal up so that she can fly. If the entire flight lasted 5 minutes then that would make sense but seems longer.

  • @61389alpha The 'gaps' in the skin of the aircraft were plugged with a tar-like elastopolymer to seal the wings until it got up to speed and sealed the wings thru thermal expansion.. This want 100% effective, as fuel still seeped out, but was only a small overall quantity..

  • @ pizzabomb 1986

  • THANK YOU!, that was AMAZING...the SR-71 "Blackbird" is simple, THE most beautiful aircraft that exists!

  • The first flypast is fuckin awesome!!

  • great to see this on video. A very strange but obviously fast aircraft. Lived outside of Beale AFB in the late 70's. These aircraft always looked very unstable when coming in for landing.(high stall speed?). Fascinating though, they were always escorted by T-38s which always looked small. They were vastly different from the U-2s which climbed very quickly and disappeared. Unless you happened to look up, your rarely noticed them coming in for landing.

  • I have never realized that the vertical stab moved entirely and not just the trailing edge portion. Very nice!

  • thats what chuck norris's farts sound like

  • lol, surely you would have something better than a B-2 stand to roll up against that airplane, canada! (also, when was this video shot? is that the 71 owned by NASA today?)

  • "though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil... because I am at 80,000ft and climbing"

  • @CTSV4MEE What is with random comments like that?

  • @carby212 rumor has it that it was written above the door to a SR71 hangar.

  • @CTSV4MEE There is no rumopr lol it was real.

  • @CTSV4MEE better look up then because an English electric lightning will be 8000ft above you not bad for British 1959 designed plane . the lightning was f3xr749 in 1984 flown by flt lt hale shook the Americans up a bit it was also the only plane any where that could catch CONCORDE on a tail end interception course no other plane could do this at that time and then Brits developed tsr2 wow all history now the evil will be above you

  • SUPERBO !!!!

  • PLEASE FAA, let us have sonic booms at air shows.

  • what a machine. that's all i can say.

  • The way I understood it, the military would admit to Mach 3, but rumors floated of Mach 10.

  • @Data1701E Maybe 3.5 at best. The limit is more related to the titanium skin being able to dissipate the heat from mach 3+. The engines were capable of producing enough thrust to push harder, but even at mach 4, the skin could approach melting temps. The engine design allowed for the compressed "mach" shochwave to ride down the moveable cone and was re-directed to bypass the compressor stage and enter the combustion section as a ramjet. The higher the airspeed, the more efficient the engine was

  • @TheVidPro Mach 10 would really be stretching it. She'd be glowing cherry red at that speed from atmospheric friction if that kind of speed was even attainable!

  • @TheVidPro well it can go to mach4 but olny 85,000ft its max hight because it's cooled enoff to prevent melting of the meatl so it can but you may not want try it

  • @TheVidPro The first hybrid engine maybe . turbojet-ramjet

  • @TheVidPro A buddy of mine flew them, he claims his guage maxed out at 4 but he could feel acceleration.

  • @TheVidPro A friend of mine worked on the SR-71 project at Aera 51 and the top speed of the AWESOME plane is Mach 7.4 no joke.!!!

  • @FIVESTARTKA : no, it can't. Perhaps that was study in the research prog but not effective. SR-71 came from Skunkworks, and few of theme where abble to reach Mach 5.

  • @Data1701E Mach 10??? Dude... It would glow red and the metal skin will become hot enough to turn into liquid metal and ''land'' as some liters of red hot titanium melted...

  • @FireFuckxD They glowed red anyway!

  • @Data1701E Only the space shuttle can do mach 10.
