@Frankfurtdabezzzt sleep requires your pc to be connected to a power supply too but uses very little power as it only needs to keep your RAM powered. your computer will not be fully on though, everything else shuts down including the power supply fan. the asrock instant boot works the same way, i think they just rewrote the code and labeled it as their "unique" feature to attract some customers but any pc using vista/7 can do it ( worked for me on ancient asus LGA775 mobo ).
I bought the ASRock Extreme6 because of the features for the price, but I knew I was buying something made for the 2nd Gen Core processors, it had two ethernet ports, 3 pci-e ports, a useful debug mode, a good gui for bios, excellent heatsync features, and a few more, but more and more, I'm seeing things about my purchase that I didn't see before, and it's like my unfinished computer is constantly throwing surprise confetti at me!
just use "sleep" instead of shut down and you can boot even faster and it works on any motherboard.

@bgioni thank you. this instant boot thing also requires contiuos power supply so just use sleep does it, too.
