WHY is their so much hatred of the cornish..........the descendants of king arthur shouldnt deserve such hatred....unless you all really are brainwashed into thinking you are pure saxons or normans :S

Oh God, why are Cornish people still banging on about independence from England. For one thing, it is part of Britain and England, and should remain so. For another, it's local economy is the worst in the country; it couldn't survive as an independant state. Maybe all you morons who want this to be the case should stop being so damn arrogant. It's like saying Yorkshire should become independant. Seriously. Grow up.
@15niall "grow up" ...surely you need to grow up if you are being so condescending...they arent after independence...just want their very ancient and effective stannary parliament....you may do well to do some actual research on cornish history.
@3tangle3 No, a lot of Cornish people are after independence. Alot of people have already stated this fact on this video alone. Seriousely, don't contradict me when clearly you have no idea what you are talking about. Perhaps you should embark on a little research. Secondly, kindly don't accuse me of being 'condescending', when firstly, you clearly do not know what it means;I was stating only fact. Nothing I said was incorrect, everything you said was incorrect. Condescending enough? True enough
A romanticised language, now that is very cocky indeed, that's the same point made time and time again. Look at the place names of Wales, Cornwall and Brittany.
The thing is I am from west penwith where i heard cornish being spoken on a daily basis but feel that i am a nationalist , i support England but am very aware of my distinct heritage to which I have always been made to be ashamed of in school and in my later life. We should be all proud of Britain and proud to be British something that has been lost!
Show of hands are from devon, Just because they sing about the region they live in, you the cornish will claim everything is from cornwall. study wikipedia and grow up.
Shows of Hands are amazing. I saw them in Winchester, Hampshire. Steve even tweeked his song "Poppy Day" to be down the M3 corridor, rather than the M4. It gave it the local touch that the majority of songs are lacking these days.
As an ordinary working class bloke and an Internationalist i find Nationalism narrow shallow and ignorant, it only serves the powers that be, and as for SOH's Regionalism ?....GET A GRIP LADS!.
@reddirtuk As another ordinary working bloke i gotta agree mind though i dont see a problem with being proud of being from somewhere long as it aint exculding others e.g im proud to be welsh but i got no problem with anyone who aint.
Dont know why the Cornish haven't adopted this as their anthem yet-well some have! Nothing better than watching a cornishman listen to this song live and seeing the tears welling up in his eyes-god I love Show of Hands!!!!
Saw show of hands last week in Dartington Great Hall. Really excellent gig - they tempered their usual style a bit to fit the acoustics of the hall. Much better performance than the one on this video -I've seen them q a few time and they've always sounded better than this. I wonder if there was something wrong wiLove the song though , , ,
Phil was born in Exminster near Exeter; Steve is originally from Eastleigh nr Southampton. Steve went to school in Exmouth; Phil across the Exe Estuary in Teignmouth. Both now live in Topsham nr Exeter.
Show Of Hands don't just write about living in Devon; and Devon life; but the South West as a whole.
Nope. Never has been and never will be unless the Cornish Stannary Parliament officialy sign it over to the British Parliament.
Read up on the 1508 Charter of Pardon and the Tamar Bridge Act 1998. Also for a more detailed historical and political account look at the Duchy of Cornwall site (with the suffix "eu")
James Fletcher, aren't you living in Plymouth? You're originally from Bristol so I'm not quite sure why you spend so much time trolling videos on Cornwall and England. Not born in Cornwall, not living in Cornwall, hasn't got a Cornish name.. yet you have attempted to reinvent yourself as "Cornish". You have a personality disorder, and a very odd, crankish one at that.
I'm 5/8 Welsh, 3/8 Cornish (a PROPER Celt) and I find you offensive - one can feel something in the blood without living there. It's not down to a name or living in a place - if all the people who love Cornwall actually lived there then the Cornish would be priced out of their homes - be happy that people love and support Cornwall and what it stands for, instead of posting your venomous vitriol on here. (And yes, I could have posted all that in Welsh too - how good's your Cornish, Native Kid?)
If you can't speak a Brythonic or Gaelic language as your primary tongue then you are not a "Celt". (a romanticised Victorian era creation, there are only Gaels and Britons). There is no such thing as "feeling x blood"-for instance as someone whose ancestors comes from the West Coast of Ireland, people right down the French coast and northern Spain have the same material genetics/"blood" as me (R1B). Language is the messure in such cultures.
You've gone quiet, Native Boy - what's wrong, have I floored you by being more properly Celtic / Brythonic than you claim to be? Pity, was looking forward to screwing you and your racist views over - ym Gymraeg, wrth gwrs....
i bet when they played roots at cambridge i bet the left was throwing up at that song seeing how much marxists self loathing apologists they have there.
Its the south-WEST. all about CORNWALL. not the south east. and i don't think the sentiments do work for anywhere else because people elsewhere wouldn't understand what the lyrics are about and mean.
Works for the South East too. Up until around the mid-20th century most people in Sussex, Kent and Hampshire had lives as farmers, labourers, fishermen etc just as hard as everyone else, not sipping tea and playing polo like many people imagine. The South East still is not as wealthy as many would make out.
