The train services should be free too if enough people want to use public transport. Melbourne is a pretty big city now and it should be able to provide free public transport to the entire population.
lol we had platform TVs in Sydney many years ago but they took them out for some reason, maybe if Melbourne could update their old school tele monitors on the city loop with new LCD that would be a good start
Channel 9 was trying to compare a MTR station in the off peak probably filmed after 8pm with one of Metro's busiest stations filmed in the peak period on a week day. I'm not a Metro fanboy or an employee but I get really sick of Australian media making unfair comparisons between Australian commuter networks and those in Asia. If you realise it, what we have as standard seats is the equivalent of First Class seats on the East Rail Line in HK's MTR.
@OsamaBinWafels Those TVs are supposed to generate revenues from advertising. WiFi is just another way to attract travelers to choose the railway over other commuting options.
@OsamaBinWafels before doing that they need to upgrade the infrastructure and attempt to remove all rail crossings which should have been done decades ago
Instead of spending dosh on upgrades the retards in charge have decidd to hire 940 Protective officers which ARE NOT NEEDED 940pso working at $20 an hour fulltime there looking at spending over 100grand a day on something that isnt necessary, majority of crimes happen on the trains themselves not at the stations.

When train services in Hong Kong are that roomy, the equivalent service in Melbourne is practically empty.

@samuel2291 You haven't been there in peak time.

@hkyouyeung I wasn't talking about peak time.

@samuel2291 I guess we both agree that was a very unfair comparison.
