I find it very disturbing that the gay community would support a convicted kiddie-fiddler; I am gay and I find that both repulsive and offensive. It's the same with Passolini; he's seen as a gay film-maker, yet he was beaten to death by a 16-year old rent boy. That's not Homosexuality-it's child abuse! While directing Clownhouse, Salva, then 29, molested one of the film's actors, 12-year-old Nathan Forrest Winters. The sexual acts were videotaped by Salva, who pleaded guilty to one count of lewd and lascivious conduct, one count of oral copulation with a person under 14, and three counts of procuring child pornography. Salva was sentenced to three years in prison. He served 15 months of the sentence before being paroled, and has registered as a sex offender.

I am stunned MGM left the Boy-ism shots in the movie. Logic would cut it out. Salva is Gay so he appeals to the Gay crowd. MGM will profit on anything. I would like that removed before re-watching it. I like the films "fear" message but then unsure if i should still be a fan?.

Nathan only was able to tell at 12, The borderline pornographic "boyisms" as you call them were what kept the movie from going to the theatres. His family did not want him to be a pedophile pin-up. I watched SALVA interview. he mention 'a dark period in his life'. but he did not look truly sorry.

Strangely this DVD was released uncut but caned only to outrage. can sell for 100s on ebay.

Salva knows how to make a fun well made scary movie like this one and Jeepers Creepers 1 & 2 as this one is much like Halloween or Black Christmas as it doesn't need to be a gore-orgy slasher film but a psychological one.

@burketrm They are not real clowns they are psychos who kill 3 clowns and target a boy and his family. The film relies less on blood and gore and more on suspense and is quite enjoyable.

The director went on to do the Jeepers Creepers films.

I don't mind this film, a good companion piece to Killer Klowns From Outer Space, after all clowns are scary.
