In the anime, yes.

However, he hasn't died in the manga thus far (and it seems to me unlikely that he will but... we'll see. I personally hope that he doesn't).

Unfortunately, I don't really think that it would be possible in the way that they ended the first season. =/

I would love for it to go on forever if it could... but I think they've discarded that idea completely.

If you want more, I'd recommend reading the manga. It's 229565235 times better than the anime and it's still running. ^_^

They also have two drama CDs with mini, unrelated plots... but if you don't understand Japanese, it won't make much sense (they're still nice to listen to, though).

@Mokuba5lover Hell Yeah ! ^^ The anime is like totally different from the manga. It's only canon until episode 06 and the end of the Jack the Ripper arc. ^^ (and I think the manga is way better)
