  • very pure and true sounds :)

  • why is garfunkel so far in the back?

  • Peeps, have you noticed, or at least I have, that my most favorite songs written and are sung by the sexiest guys on the planet: Jewish guys! #1- Neil Diamond, #2, Simon and Garfunkel, #3 - the list goes on... WHEW! I ADORE THEIR MUSIC!!!

  • Garfunkel, is irreplaceable, his big nose, gives him impeccable harmony and tones.

Two Thumbs up for the both of them. They sure beat the sheet out of todays

krap puke monkey vomit music ..

  • I wish I had heard of that tour. I really got back into listening to them in 2008.

I can't believe I bought $5,000 worth of tickets for last years supposed tour but I

thought they might never come my way again. And there was no tour.

  • @JettRink50 ... Dude that's crap... sorry for you!

  • I don't usually like live perfomances because they sometimes lack the soul or perfection of the original studio recording, but this was TERRIFIC!! Besides the minor imperfections of this live performance, Paul still managed to do his "magnum opus" JUSTICE!! And the harmonies...Ahh...there's no other word to describe them other than "ANGELIC!!" They've still got it!! |Tom & Jerry| |Art & Paul| |Simon and Garfunkel| Three different ways to describe the Gods of Harmony. Absolutely EXQUISITE!!!

  • @Randy71138 Thanks, nice comment.

  • @BlueAndWhiteZebra Your very welcome and thanks for posting this up. (:

  • who is singing the high part paul or art during the end?

  • An amazing performance! I agree with "BigJohnWoody" about the hook "half of the time we're gone".....only I'd say it's better than any top 40 clip in the past few DECADES! And does anyone on the planet have a more angelic voice than Art Garfunkel? Doubtful!

  • This is by far my favorite song of all time. No one could do a better version than Simon & Garfunkel, even at nearly 70 years these old friends have still got it. I was supposed to see them in Quebec this summer until the tour was "indefinitely postponed." Here's hoping to another great tour in the coming years.

  • UUGH! Did you do Cloverfield?

  • As a gardener by trade, indeed I get all the news I need on the weather report.

"Weather and authorities permitting..." - The Firesign Theater

I would think Paul Simon's favourite song would be his own "American Tune" as a soloist...as the construction and mood are a bit similar.

Love the organ breakaway in this one, like the studio version from BOTW

  • one of my favourites by S&G <3

im so sad they postponed, and then completely cancelled the show in vancouver last week :'(

  • Yo Paul, we love this song.

  • Your camera has excellent sound! :D

  • Gee, I sure am glad you had that nice Olympus 770 with you! Too dern bad you didn't have a monopod to set it on!!! Were you crocked at the time, cause your camera work makes me dizzy!

But it is still one of my all-time favorite PS songs, and your audio was quite good, so thanks for that much.

  • Thanks. You have a point but in fairness, it is just a small camera and I was there to enjoy the concert as such, and not to officially film it. You can however buy a DVD of this tour and see this song performed with perfect camera work. It's called the Old Friends DVD and was recorded during the US part of the tour. It is perfect. This is only to give you a taster so I urge you to support the artist and buy the official, perfect DVD. It's brilliant!

  • I just might do that. Thanks for your nice reply, and sorry for sounding like a smart arse before.

  • Is it a JFK´s memorial song?

  • @eduardo00178 No!

  • I first heard this song only 6 months ago. It seems food for my soul. I can't hear it often enough. It resonates with me thoroughly and profoundly. Each time I hear it I am breathtaken, swept away, and restored all rolled into one.

  • the best Simon and garfunkel song ever ..Paul seems so lost without Arties vocals on this one ..they should do this one togher or not at all

  • artie wasnt even on this song originally. Paul actually wrote it FOR artie. So in my opinion he does just fine without him

  • what are you talking about? A) Art was on the original, he sang all the harmonies at the end, and B) he does the same thing on this version too! You can clearly see him standing, and singing.

  • harmonies... you think art's harmnies at the end going AHHHHH AHHHH AHHHH made the song, Paul coulda done them just fine without art, but on top of that paul had recorded the skeleton track when art wasnt even around. he came in and said "look what i've done" and then they added things like this. Bob Dylan was actually in the studio with them too. And of course hes on stage with him during hte song. hes helping with harmonies. but this song was WRITTEN by paul, and 99.99999% recorded by Paul

  • I never said Art's harmonies at the end make the song, where did you get that from? I'm fully aware that Paul was the creative genius behind the duo, and Art's contributions were merely that, contributions. Regardless, his vocals at the end are beautiful and he definitely was on the original release, and he definitely was a part of this concert, two facts your post ignores.

  • I never said he wasnt p art of the concert... that part is obvious since you can see him here. All i was merely saying is that Paul made this song and that if art hadnt stepped foot in the studio to do the harmonies the song would STILL sound just the same meaning this is paul's amazing song

  • the "ahhhhhhh"s actually do make the song.

  • @Luccabrozzo If it weren't for Art, the song would never have been written in the first place, since the song was inspired by Art's trip to Mexico when he was filming "Catch-22". Who cares anyway, it's a great song.

  • what are you talking about? He's right there! You guys are all retarded.

  • It's like they just popped down from another planet and said "we're gonna sing a few songs for you"

  • It's l a love song?

  • The lyrics don't really suggest that it is. But doesn't just about any Simon and garfunkel song sound like a love song? :)

  • In a certain sense,it can be maybe!

    Best wishes from Italy!

  • @arpionatore The song is about how Paul missed Art when he went on a trip to Mexico to film Catch 22. In the lyrics Simon sings "Tom, get your plane on time" because he and Art used to be called 'Tom and Jerry'

  • Interesting,very thanks!

    Wishes from Italy!

  • @arpionatore Paul wrote it about Art. So is it a love song?? I guess that's open to interpretation...

  • On my opinion it's a love song,or i like to think it.

  • Alone in NYC again like the day I was born, here I am.

  • I always felt that the big beginning "half of the time we're gone" was such a hook that it should've been repeated more times in this song. Those few seconds are better than just about any top 40 clip in the past few years.

  • Spot on! Gets the hairs on the back of your neck standing on end. The term "musical genius" is often misused, but not in this case.

  • "half of the time..." - if they repeated it more than they did it would lose it's magic, no? :))

like with anything, moderation is the key to enjoyment. OM! :)))))

  • @BigJohnWoody i always have tought just the same, that there was missing a huge last one that would feel like an explosion of pure and awesome music

  • I have a question....who surpasses S & G as a duo........no one

  • It's more like a statement of fact! No one surpasses Simon and Garfunkel!

  • I think you're right! Just saw them in Japan and it was magic!

  • Nice one...were you also the guy that did the camera work on NYPD Blue? :)

  • This is my favorite song at this current point of my life :) really brrightens my day to hear this one

  • Art Garfunkel looks like Bilbo Baggins.

  • Check out my version of Paul Simon's "The Only Living Boy In NY"

    chris

  • this video makes me dizzy its so unstable.

  • I was in Munich to wtch the concert. Is there a bootleg of it?

  • Is that Jim Keltner on drums?

  • Yes.

  • i don't remember this tour: did they do any dates in england? (paul simon has done various appearances, but not, as i recall, a big S&G gig...glastonbury would be the perfect setting for a major england gig - agree?)

  • And during 2004 you were on which planet? It was about the biggest rock news of the year in Europe, a follow up to the 2003 USA tour. In the UK they played in Hyde Park, London.

  • ha ha ha!

  • Manchester MEN, Birmingham NEC, Numerous Apollo theatres

I was at the 4th of November MEN Gig - absolutely amazing concert. War Time Prayers was without a doubt the best rendition of the entire gig!

  • pino's bass sounds so great and so does the vocals What a brilliant song Paul sings with emotion Artie is just ...well Himself delivering the goodies great song !great performance great song

  • thats pino palladino? thats so cool, it sounded like him

  • pino became famous while playing bass on The Paul Young album No Parlez hé's a brilliant bass player ( Fretless)great sound

  • Thank you.

This is probably my favorite song of theirs. Brings tears to my eyes.

  • Um, yeah.

  • ...half of the time we're gone but we don't know where...when I was 18 it made me shiver and now I'm 44 and cry when I hear and see this. He shared my live with me in every damned minute and will never know. I wonder what kind of human I would be if the big grace of living at the same time as Paul Simon would not have been offered to me.

  • Thats amazing performance ever great view to.

  • Used to have this on '8 track' in the car. I had doubts as to whether I would ever hear it again. Thank you to the kind soul who posted this!

  • You're very welcome. Happy new year. :-))

  • podknocker, are you gay?

  • Art looks like Gene Wilder, Paul like the man who sells kebebs near me.

  • Brilliant! :--)))))))))

  • that did make me laugh haha

  • Studio version is 10 times better, but still loved it

  • those bastards can still harmonize like no other..shit i love them

  • Does anyone else notice Art is wearing the same thing he wore at the concert in central park. Did he wear that in Carnegie Hall in 1967?

Was he born with the vest?

  • yes. he was born with a vest. i read that on wikapedia. his mother's obstetrician was quoted as saying "it was the most unusual delivery i've ever made, but i knew he was destine for greatness." and of course the rest is history.

  • why put a shabby video like this here? do it right or don't do it at all .these boys deserve better.on the other hand, these 2, like many old ,big names have nothing to say anymore, so...and when you start to look like bilbo baggins,(please art), enjoy the fame and retire peacefully guys.life goes on

  • A fair point you have. The video is not of the best quality compared to an "official" release. However, your question as to why I should have uploaded this video is answered by the fact that very many thousands have enjoyed the clip. So far unanimous appreciation has been shown, and an average rating by 21 users with 4 out of 5 stars show that at least 80 percent think it's a great video. And 15,000 have seen it, so.....12,000 people think it's great. Thats why I've uploaded it!

  • Fair enough.but tell me how the show was.Haven't been there so can't "having been there with these legends" But it looks and sounds all pretty overaged .I say; retire with dignity, enjoy the fame and the money, you deserve it all.But all these old guys, these two, the Stones, Led Zeppelin ,the Police, etc they just don't know when to stop.what a pity.Remember the famous Clint Eastwood ? " a man has got to know his limitations " I second that .Cheers !

  • Again, you have some fair points. The show was genuinely fantastic. The music well performed and the singing very, very good. The DVD "Old Friends" recorded in New York 2003 is top notch quality. And being there live was similar. Sure they could retire. But it was the fans choice to attend the concert, so....why retire? We still wanna see 'em!! :-))

  • brilliant, thanks for posting

  • love the song; true though that S&G's voices sound a bit strained now. Fuck, we're all getting old...

  • a good reason for these two to call it a day, wouldn t you say ?

  • good reason for you to shut the fuck up and eat a brick.

  • Great song, so so performance. These guys are getting so old, as are their vocal chords. It might be time to hang it up.

  • Was a great song on the album. Maybe not so great live. Paul seems to be having trouble hearing his vocal or something -- his pitch is off several times.

  • Greatest song of Simon & Garfunkel

  • if not all time

  • awesome!

  • Glorious - great bass riff too.

  • Nice one. Hard to find video.

  • Beautiful song, but - as I think this demonstrates - not really an arena song.

  • Indeed...Simon and Garfunkel is best heard in a 1000 seat theater with one guitar and two vocalists.

  • what about at home in front of the fireplace, with grandkids?

  • Great footage of a great duo. Thanks for sharing.

  • Unfortunitally the only time i heard this song live was without Art Garfunkel.

  • In the recent Simon & Garfunkel concerts, Garfunkel only hums along in the background so you didn't miss much.

  • this songs appears on everwood. the song is great!!

  • Lame....this song is too good for that lame show.

  • this is not a lame show shitface i was there and it sounds great

  • Garfunkel jault, als klage er darüber, keine Zähne mehr zu haben

  • Amazing song! You're lucky to have been able to see this live.
