Very likely something to do with the fact that in the mid-70s I had a Brazilian girlfriend who was sheer sensuousness personified, and our relationship was pure unbridled lust! Such memories never fade. The way Brazilians speak is very fluid and feminine, and I guess it must be to the Portuguese the equivalent of how many Americans sound to us Brits.

Most Brazilians have a very hard time making any sense of 'real' portuguese. You do need a while to get used to it. On the other hand, they can understand us without much trouble which is most certainly due to the Brazilian tv production that invades Portugal
