@TheDp321 well its really just for people who like drama and things like that. also, they look "Weird" because they're Japanese drawings which look a LOT different from the american cartoons. not everyone likes anime, but i do and a lot of my friends like it to... also the fact that it is technically a cartoon, they can make the characters do some pretty cool things that they couldnt in real life :3
@TheDp321 in terms of storylines, anime can do everything movies can, since an intricate dramatic plot requires nothing but imagination.
As for visuals, watch "Spirited Away" by Hayao Miyazaki. If you tell me that wasn't beautiful to watch, I'll eat your head. And I'll wash it first, so if you plan on keeping it purposely dirty, it won't work. ;)
