  • The Monty Python

    Eddie Izzard

    George Carlin

    Bill Hicks

    =

    Legends

  • @gasb911 - Absolutely F-in right! Would have to add Lenny Bruce to the list --- anybody who goes to jail for his comedy is a legend indeed.

  • HahahahaHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • Eddie Izzard is the best comedian ever.

  • LMAO So nice to see the Pythons back on one stage, I am sure Eddi Izzard and the guys would have had a great laugh backstage.

  • please write down for me what does that extra-Python say! all of it, please! and if \you can also what pythons say at the begining,

    and greeting for all spam-lovers

  • please write down for me what does that extra-Python say! all of it, please!

  • I saw this a such a long time ago, and thought it was hilarious even though I had no idea who the guy was. Years later when I saw it again I was like HOLY SHIT THAT WAS EDDIE COMEDY INCEEEESST WOOO

  • We owe the Pythons (and Hormel, I suppose) for the current meaning of the word "spam".

  • Aspen? Dreadful place.

  • Terry has deadly muffin accuracy.

  • Are some people who comment really so daft that they think Izzard was "made spam of" or "couldn't make it" through the segment?!

Do their puny brains not comprehend that the whole thing was a sketch? - and that the very fact that ALL the Pythons let him share the stage with them before kicking him off was the biggest and best compliment they could ever give anyone?

Izzard would have been on Comedy Cloud 9 after that - he was so IN.

    Are Americans really this stupid?

  • @pistachioguy - ....all except Graham Chapman, of course, who died in '89 before this was filmed.

  • @pistachioguy

What's even cooler, is that Cleese refers to Izzard as "the lost Python"

  • @pistachioguy Yes

  • Eh. Eddie Izzard is funnier than the pythons ever were. THEY should be begging to work for HIM.

  • My favourite part of this video is the way Eddie enters, skulking in at the back and hiding behind the rest of them. In fact, if he'd never raised his voice, he might have been able to make it through the whole interview without anyone noticing. =P

  • Man...they made fucking spam out of him!!!

  • I watched this first when I was obsessed with Python and didn't know Izzard, and by now, Izzard is my favorite person in the world XD So this is pretty much the greatest video ever. Love them all so much!

  • lol

  • boom, headshot!

  • Eddie Izzard is the lost Python, as Mr. Cleese said.

  • This is FUNNY

  • eddie izzard AND monty python doesnt get much better than this

  • @DarthRevan1051 Agreed! And I personally thing Eddie Izzard fits very well into the Python consept.

  • eddie is a national treasure.. I have met him and he is wonderful. Yea he is a transvestite, so what? He is an inspiration to transgendred people everywhere.

  • @buffykidd1971 That is honestly the BEST description of Izzard I have ever read.... A NATIONAL TREASURE!!! I can not agree more!! He should have his own statue erected ;-)

  • Izzard is a cross-dresser so he'd fit right in :)

  • He could have taken Graham Chapman's place!

  • Does anyone else notice the refference to a sketch from Beyond the Fringe called the great train rubbery?

  • Who would have thought, thirty years ago we'd all be sitting here drinking chateau de chassel, eh?

  • strange women lying around in ponds! :D

  • @damarh Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony!

  • what the hell just happened?

  • @ bricksalegend Carlin counts for 50% of all comedy as he started standup as we know it. + hes a demigod

  • best of u.k, izzard, bailey, the pythons, milligan, cooke, connelly, sacha baren cohen

best of u.s prior, dangerfield, hicks, carlin, rock, stanhope

you decide, ive got it 65/35 to the u.k.

  • Terry Gilliam would throw something XD

  • I just love Eddie's reaction when Terry threw the bread at him! 01:20 (it was bread, right?)

  • @Thessea What vicious thing to do, but then again, Terry always had a vicious sense of humour.

  • lol Eddie was actually in a pythons sketch that's why they set this surprise appearance of Eddie up lol

  • What sketch was he in? I've never seen him in any...

  • @MrIdleismyIdol That's cuz he wasn't lol

  • @blackricky I didn't think so cause I've seen every episode like 10 times. I think they got confused with the appearance he made on their 30th anniversary show.

  • @MrIdleismyIdol Possibly =D. Eddie wasn't even 10 years old when MP stopped lol.

  • @MrIdleismyIdol lookup eddie izzard shagging fairyby janeansylester

  • @olejnik82 I did...that was awesome!! The fairy was actually Eric's part in on eof the episodes XD

  • @TheWyldeFire No he wasn't lol, when MP ended Eddie wasn't even 10 years old. The yset this up cuz Eddie always said his inspiration was MP, which is why i lvoe this, he got to do something with his heros =D

  • @blackricky watch?v=pz3BVnRycok&feature=related you've now been schooled =D lol

  • @TheWyldeFire I grant you that i didn't know that existed lol but that wasn't really a Monty Python sketch....it was a reunion show for the US Comedy Arts Festival.....ok, it was a sketch with them....but not a TRUE one! lol

  • The Beatles of comedy.

  • Gosh, they didn't react very gracefully to that.

  • Even though that was a setup the Pythons did not know what was coming xd

  • laughed soooo hard

  • Eddie quoting one of the best sketches is just a marvellous nod to Pythons :) 'Strange women lying in ponds ...'

  • XDD awsome two comedy geniuses together!!

  • Eddie and Pythons :)) ^^

  • That's Terry Gilliam.

  • he's a python, he can do whatever the fuck he wants

  • @JackieMoMackie Sort of, he calls himself "The bastard child of the Pythons"

  • eddie would disapprove

  • tranny abuse

  • Cleese thought he was "the lost Python"

  • i never thought i'd see britain's 2 comedy geniuses together

  • your forgettin Rowan Atkinson as well

  • LOL!

  • Eddie got into comedy cause he wanted to do a show like python. Pretty cool he kinda got to be in one of their sketches.

  • yeah, I agree wih gibsonjoe531531 - all of this is ridiculous! Just coming from the UK does not make you faggoty!

And anway if you don;t like the genius of python or the gorgeous eddie izzard then don't watch it! No one's making you!

Get over yourself and go watch something else then!

  • What is this show? Is there any way to get the whole show. They are BRILLIANT!! Is the host Klein something..?

  • Im sure someone's commented on this but I find it so hilarious that Eddie's quoting "The four yorkshiremen" here and then several years later went and did a spoof of it with Alan Rickman. =P

  • ..... that was 3 things.....

  • yep, definately funnier than americans, eh Emmamoo?

  • JEB!

  • MONTY PYTHON YOU TWIT

  • Monty python....

  • ...close enough

  • wow, try google

    or youtube

  • Oh my god, you don't know about Monty Python? O.O

  • They're a group of six (five now, Graham Chapman died twenty years ago) British guys who made comedy what it is today... Some say they did for comedy what the Beetles did for music.

  • Agreed. The irony is that these days people quote them endlessly, and copy their style. Bizarre, surreal humor is often called "Pythonesque." But in their day they were mavericks and rebels that a lot of people didn't "get" They were pioneers, but through no fault of their own, they have become a new standard that people copy. Kind of ironic.

  • Exactly! I just find it funny that I watch recent comedies and laugh a bit, but every time I rewatch an episode of the Flying Circus I still laugh to tears. XD

  • how does coming from england make you a faggot? that's what i don't under stand.

  • @gibsonjoe531531 Because English are very wooden, they like to be tied together in a bundle, and they are flaming.

  • Why does being from the United Kingdom automatically make you a homosexual? wanker.

Don't be such a bigoted homophobe.

And wtf is wrong with the name Sam?

  • @lalamiyachuu I live in Britain and EVERYONE is homosexual. I mean people take wives out of convenience, but everyone is gay. You can be imprisoned for heterosexual sex under a charge of gross indecency.

  • @bertiethetoupee4 Right....and which Britain have u been living in exactly - cause that stuff makes no sense wot so eva and just sounds really, really stupid ! Plus wot does any of that have to do with Monty Python exactly lol !

  • @Cyberpit2000 I was being sarcastic. Jesus.

  • @lalamiyachuu Being from the UK automatically makes you a crossdresser! ;)

  • Noooo, not Eddie!

  • haha I love Eddie the Izzard he's a ledge haha brilliantly done. Monty Python rule. and they belong to us in the UK. See, we do have the best humour ;-) hehe

  • Love Eddie, Love Python, Instant Classic

  • eddie ask them could he put on his CV bASTARD son of Python

he is the unofficial 7th Python

  • Comment removed

  • Iy was all in the act ;) Eddie has been playing with them before aswell. He has even been in a python show earlier doins some stuff with the guys =)

  • Yea I know it was an act but the biscuit or cheese throw im sure it wasn't in the rehearsal..., but still funny.

  • thats terry gilliam you fucking noob.

  • I loved when Terry Gilliam threw something at him at 1:22

  • "strange women lying about in ponds!"

two of my favorite things come together...eddie izzard and monty python...does it get any better?

  • that orangethrow was unnecessary :P

  • eddie sneaks in unnoticed.....

  • they were so mean!

  • It's sooo funny that Idle just kicks Eddie! :D But hilarious, all of it. Eddie's genius!

  • XD, Eddie Izzard crashing Monty Python, lol! Classic!

  • Eddie's great! I really hope this wasn't staged. Cause that would be a finest moment of Eddie!

  • Help! Help! Eddie's being repressed! Do you see them repressing Eddie? You saw that didn't you!

  • Monty Python rules forever! this was a prime example of violence inherent in the system.

  • Eddie Izzard makes fun of things.

    Monty Python does funny skits.

And the Japanese make great Anime.

And us americans well we have only amounted to who knows how many both funny and just plain stupid sitcoms.

If anyone wants to add thank you but if you want to argue with me your crazy for what I have Just stated is a Postulate.(For those of you who don't know what a Postulate is it is a term in math were it can't be argued ex. Two points determine a unique straight line.)

  • hush

  • haha

  • I love Eddie (:

    Hes so adorable ^^

    <3

  • does anyone know if this was real? i have looked on the internet but cant find out!

  • yeah it's real. it's on a special feature disc of the entire Monty Python's Flying Circus collection. it's kinda sad because they bring Grahm out in an urn and it gets knocked over.

  • so it wasnt staged or anything? thanks for replying btw:) no ones ever replied to my comment before!

  • well Eddie being up there is probably staged. but the lines seem slightly improved at least. they probably said hey lets have Eddie Izzard on with us and see what happens before we kick him off.

  • well eddie has done stuff with the pythons before, hes appeard in grahams place in a couple of sketches.

  • But was it really Graham? If it was then yeah that is sad. But I don't think they would bring his actual ashes out on stage. But then again..... We are talking about the kings of absurdist comedy so I guess it wouldn't be that unlikely.

  • Eddie looks so cute.

  • This must have been heaven for Eddie.

  • was this scripted?

  • Lets hope not :p

  • ha no. eddie always changes stuff up

  • whwres the rest if this???:D

  • Oh fing Eddie, I love that man!

  • I wholeheartedly agree with this statement.

  • I agree. Another thing you yanks have done is caused loads of conspiracy theories (Which I love) and saved our asses in World War One.

  • yeah, conspiracy theories are what we are best at

  • Defiantly, with area 51 and all that. The only well know conspiracy theory we Brits have come up with is the Paul Is Dead one.

  • Dont be so hard on yourself, Americans have made great music. Sure, almost all of its shit now, but its lie that all over the world. Almost every musical revolution has spawned from American soil, so dont feel too bad.

  • hahahahhahaa what a champ :P man he must have had balls that night. either that or eddie was just realy drunk lol

  • no its simply because the pythons love him and think he is really funny

  • john cleese has called Eddie the "Lost Python".

  • hahah he was rejected by those he loves so dearly....

  • Yup he was and thats the joke

  • Love the Pythons, likes Izzard. There could not have been a better clip for me. I love it.

  • perfect aim Terry G.! lol i love the pythons!

  • Yes I must say the typical American cannot appreciate the intricacies of effeminate English humour at its best. I simply love Eddie Izzard he is a fine example of the English manner!

  • at least you said typical american, because that would be an unforgivable statement in my book, seeing as i am american, yet still appreciate any sort of british humor. more so than the crap over on this side anyway

  • you do have some crap shows but your cartoons are classic wish more people would do comedy like the pythons but not the same comedy just a improvised version

  • Ditto that. Tell you what, we'll make the sitcoms and sketch shows, you make the cartoons, and the world will be a better place

  • yes your right =)

  • well SNL and Mad TV tried to recreate Monty Python and failed miserably....the type of humor in Monty Python can only be properly pulled off by Brits, Americans try and it turns into an epic fail.

  • here, here! it's absolutely ridiculous. LONG LIVE MONTY PYTHON'S FLYING LEGACY! and eddie izzard is really funny too!

  • SNL wasn't trying at all to recreate Python. And I won't defend all of their material as brilliant, cause it's been hit and miss, but SNL succeeded at times. And it's a low blow to bring up Mad TV, a disgusting aborted fetus of a show that stinks of Los Angeles smog. And as for a North American heir to Python, I would put forward Kids in the Hall - and I will defend them with kung-fu fists.

  • But you have to admit the original SNL cast was hilarious... quite unlike today.

  • I love how Eddie just start telling the story. I'm quite sure he mentions that two of them were doing a bank robbery =)

  • This makes me sad. Poor dear Izzables.

  • i love how eddie izzard is the 6th python

  • lol at 1:20, Terry throws something and smacks Eddie right in the face with it

  • It appeared to be a biscuit.

  • Perhaps it was covered in jam.

  • was this scripted?

  • that comment was ment for "broodyfour" by teh way

  • I can do it! "Strange women lying about in ponds."

    LOL!

  • this is brilliant, if only they new who he was

  • of course they do - that's the joke.

  • He was inspired by the Pythons, so... yeah.

  • That was awesome!

  • lol, Eddie Izzard crashed the party, XD!

    "Who're you?" lol

  • What is this from? I want all of it!

  • this is part of the box set of The Best Of Monty Python

  • if it wasn't for Monty Python than SNL, Madtv, and well today's comedy itself wouldn't be around. their flying circus shaped the world into what it is today. they're tru comedic geniuses!

  • XD poor Eddie! All of the fantastic comedians on one stage?! Can the universe not implode?

  • True comic LEGENDS on one stage. Can it get any better than this?!
