@J1I9M7M4Y No you do not have to drive that fast. If this snow is deep (say 8-10inches) then it may be helpful to go faster to insure the drag from the plow doesn't cause the vehicle to get stuck. Also, the best configuration is to run this with a 4x4 vehicle. Before I came up with Hitch 'N Plow I had a Ford 3000 2WD without chains or brine in the tires and it was horrible for plowing snow. I never got stuck using Hitch 'N Plow with my Jeep in MI snow.
@schmidtproducts Ok, thanks for your answer. I´ll guess my Jeep WJ would be just fine then. I have tried to find this plow in Europe but i have failed to do that. Im afraid that shipping to Sweden will cost more than the plow itself.. :(
Would be more interesting to me if you sold everything needed, including the plow. Also re:"continental US addresses" keep in mind that Canadians have money also.
@Stuffyou100 I tried to keep the costs down by just supplying the main adapter that provides the means to attach the standard category 1 blade. The winch and blade can be purchased locally (without me adding a mark-up or shipping costs). I will have more stock available at the end of this week and I do offer shipping to Canada on my Ebay listing. I couldn't find a shipping calculator on the PayPal "buy it now" button site so had to use a fixed shipping price on my website.
I think you have missed the point. The purpose of this product is to have the versatility of a compact tractor by utilizing your vehicle hitch receiver to attach a category 1 farm blade. Why buy a tractor if you can plow your driveway with your truck or SUV?
The point of a plow is to plow the snow in front of you so you can drive down the road and not get stuck not to pull snow behind you and not be able to back up and what do you do with the snow how do you push it into a pile
@schwinnprotocol It pushes the snow to the side, it's called an angle. Also i don't think i have ever seen a plow truck that wasn't going to make it through the snow without the plow, the idea is for cars that can't make it.
Its doing things back to front but actually quite a good idea in certain circumstances. Any 4x4 can be used with little or no modification required and will clear the road for use by other less capable vehicles.Could not a cheaper all inclusive version be made for those customers with no need to fit other farm implements to their suv.
if you can drive through it why bother to "plow"it all and all looks like something stupid people would buy...i have an 9' boss vee plow i could clear that drive in 2 mins tops and i dont even have to get out of the truck to hook up
This is a good system I think, but maybe you could make the winch turn a solid top link (turn-buckle type) with a few gears or cogs to make it able to push in reverse to finish a job. you could probably do it with a 90degree hand crank winch, a bike chain and a couple cogs welded ....
we had some beast snow this winter where I live, and I have a 91 Cherokee. I knew that with the unibody setup a push plow could screw it up, but seeing this gives me hope yet. Anyone used it before??
The only thing is you have to drive through all the snow plus more resistance. Where as with a regular plow if you cant go any farther you lift the plow and back up on whats already plowed. Not so great of an Idea for big storms.
most trucks transmissions are made for towing,,,not pushing, so this is a great idea if you plan on doing your own driveway,,,sure beats paying one of those assholes that liked to rob ya when it snows,,,,, and it wont void your warranty on your truck after you burn up your trans
pushing the snow,,,, im not going to buy one but im sure thinking about makin my own at my machine shop.......
ok i dont get snow where i live ,ever! but surely a plough at the front of a vehicle would make more sense than having to drive through what your trying to get rid of so you dont have to drive through ...wouldnt it???
@ih8umor your right...but i think hes trying to show you a cheap way to use the hitch that the jeep already has to move snow. mounting a plow on the front of the jeep im sure would cost more money
wow - i can see there's no shortage of stupid people here...
this isnt the end-all to snow plowing - its a niche tool, you morons
if you need minimal plowing on a buget - this obviously gets the job done.
what easier - loading your snowthrower in your truck, driving to your camp and spending 3 hours snowblowing a 1/2 mile dirt road? or driving to camp, hooking up a blade and simply making one or two passes up and down the road & driveway in 5 minutes?
Very nice, an excellent solution for someone wanting to plow their own driveway without installing an expensive and heavy plow on the front of their vehicle. Could be used as a back-up (no pun intended) plow if a primary plow vehicle failed, and can fit on vehicles never intended for a plow fairly safely as the rear is designed for payload. The blade in the video could be a bit wider tho.
Neat concept.Might be limit to how much snow you move but the idea of useing 3pt hitch pcs behind a truck is pretty cool. And with really no modifing to the truck. Thanks for sharing your video.
Reference comment below. This is a different low cost means of plowing snow. It easily attaches to a hitch receiver and doesn't require you to have an expensive front plow blade on your vehicle all season. I have a 1000 ft. driveway in MI and after 8-10" of snow I can install, plow and remove the blade in under 30 minutes.
Good question. I have a long driveway and even though I can drive through several inches of snow with my 4x4 Jeep, I like to keep the driveway clean for deliveries and my wife's car. I have been able to plow up to 10 inches of snow by driving through it and having the blade push it off to the side.
Actually going forward works quite well. As long as you can drive through the snow, you will be able to push snow off to the side using this blade. The challenge with rotating the blade and using it in reverse is the cable can get overloaded (if the blade bites in) causing it to potentially snap. On a tractor, you have a solid link and therefore don't have this potential failure mode.
@schmidtproducts most of these comments are from people who have never plowed with a blade on a cold tractor lol it does work good let the city boys say all they want lol

Idea off using the trailer hitch is very good.
Best if pushed rather than pulled so Ideal solution= Mount on hitch and drive backwards

Just fixed one that was being used to push. It seems that stumps hidden by deep snow just don't push. A 45hp. tractor has a lot of push!
