  • What was this clip taken from? Is it on DVD?

  • Wow, around 206 great shot of Don and Phil Everly singing harmony along with Emmy Lou....don't get much better tan that....

  • He sure are one and he is very much missed.

  • I sure miss him. This and Amanda are my favorites.

  • Excellent!

  • Bonus points for Mark Knaufler & Chet Atkins. That stage was full of talent.

  • if u dislike any waylon...u need ur dumbass kicked in the nuts...too those who dislike of course...cheers

  • itellegent smart lyrics with meaning that you wont find today. today its all about "look how country i is".

  • Check out the lady on the "Hoss's" left...she likes the Legend!

  • @TEXASGUNFIGHTER Texas, that 'lady' is none other than Emmylou Harris herself. :)

  • Can anyone tell me what album this is from

  • @8888james1

The album is Ultimate Waylon Jennings

    Greatings Jolanda from the Netherlands

  • Great music!! What legands!

  • The last song I fell in love with and I fell in love with Waylon all over again...Bless you Jessi Colter for your songs I cover "Storms Never Last"...and the EVER AWESOME "I'm Not Lisa"...but most of all, jessi, thank-you so much for your unconditional love for Waylon...You are my hero,too,Girl...from Ya'll's biggest fan "Drew Marquis-Ashley", the gypsychicklet with her 88 keys...keep on,jessi...drew ellen

  • would have been appropriate to let Waylon take the lead to end the song....definitely would have been more enjoyable...

  • that is Mark Knopfler . he played the lead on the original track. & many other country songs. check John Anderson , When it comes to you. Knopfler wrote it & played on the lp with Anderson. & no. maranda lambert doesn't sound anything like anything Waylon ever did.

  • listen to miranda lamberts white liar very similiar to this mans song

  • chet sure did find him a star. but it ended up being a love and hate relationship. waylon had the tendency to piss some people off at times. lol i thought it was funny what he said to them. i guess some people just didnt have a since of humore like i did. rip waylon. say hello to buddy holly for us. godbless.

  • @39tommyboy amen

  • Is that Mark Knopfler at :33 sec ???

  • @syncdog Yes!

  • @syncdog Yes, glad you spotted him too!

  • I miss Waylon so much. Now all I can do is watch him on YouTube and bring those memories back night after night. Make your mark up there too Hoss! Hokey Sloan

  • Love It!

  • I don't know that I may have overlooked the date this vid was recorded. 'm thinking late 80's. Sure are some fine people on that stage, people like Emmylou Harris. I think I have been in love with Emmylou all my life. I cannot recall how many times I've seen her live along with the "Outlaws" we so enjoyed hearing live music throughout Texas in the 70's.

  • I had more fun in the 70's. in my twenties! I guess my generation was the last of the "baby boomers". I never saw Mark Knopfler live . Interesting he is among this group of artists.

  • i like kris's and patti's version more . . . i wish waylon was still with us what a great artist

  • i like these live versions,,,,The studio version is great too,, but Id like to find a good quality sounding live version

  • this is one of my ultimate faves ..its a great story..........

  • Great song. Great artist. I believe it's actually titled "Rose In Paradise" though.

  • tim mcgraw sing back when, you understand now for what

  • Thats back when country was country now days singers cant sing nothin worth listenin to

  • Great song, Christ Young does a great cover w/ Willie Nelson.

  • In answer to the JEW 'S question , "my premise concerns the american way " NO JEW CAN BE REGARDED AS PIONEER AMERICAN " On the contrary , jews in america have done what hitler prevented them from doing in germany ! Now jews have invaded in every venue of commerce ,their dominence has brought america to being nothing more than a supporter of ISRAEL ! THIS MUST STOP !

  • @sandhogy

Well for one thing I am a Zionist not a JEW, as far as your quote "NO JEW CAN BE REGUARDED AS PIONEER AMERICAN" proves how little you know a bout the land you claim to love. For instance did you know Haym Solomon was the largest private individuals to finance the revolution? He gave over $ 200.000 toward the revolution..later on he went bankrupt because he never was paid back. The New Haven legislator adopted legal codes 79 of those 79 virtually all were from Mosaic law ..continued

Continued pt.2 So popular was the hebrew language that 17 and 18th century what you might call "the pioner era that in the 17th and 18th century students from Yale , Harvard , Columbia , Brown , Princeton , John Hopkins and the Univercity of Philidelphia recitd thire disertation in in HEBREW. The FIRST SEAL OF AMERICA RECOMENDED BY FRANKLIN, JOHN ADAMS, AND THOMAS J WAS THE JEWS CROSSING OF THE RED SEA, continued...

  • @sandhogy Continued pt.3

The First patriot to be killed was a JEW, his name was Francis Salvador. The motto on the liberty bell is " RESISTANCE TO TYRANTS IS OBEDIENCE TO GOD". (Leviticus 25:10). The first Jews arrived in America in 1492. President George Washington remembered the JEWISH contribution when the FIRST SYNAGOGUE TOURO SYNAGOGUE was opened 1790 in Rhode Island and it was SEPHARDIC. How is that for PIONERING JEWISH STYLE. Learn your history...Please.

  • What I want to know is what were 5 deaf people doing on Youtube

  • a man told me today that he was getting old at 46 and i told him that your not old untill you have to get off the toilet to keep from flushing your balls. lol now thats words of wisdom for you young fellers. lol just joking. godbless.

  • 5 people should be shot.......

  • this is AMERICA ! my love till death ! BUT !!!!! AMERICAN JEWS FOR ISRAEL MUST BE STOPPED !!!!

  • @sandhogy Why? and what does your premice have to do with a rose n paradice?

  • wow best ever. emmylou harris was so beautiful

  • @brandon429 I freaking love Emmylou,,,,sorry I just had to tell you

  • @onechordshortofasong

I completely agree. even though Ive known about her since i was a kid, for some reason it never dawned on me how incredibly beautiful she was.

  • country before it was cool

  • Chris Young with Willie Nelson's version is good, but you can't beat the great classics sung by Waylon. To younger people like me, Chris Young's version may sound better. But Waylon's is damn good.

  • where did it all go

  • Interesting reunion with Waylon and Chet...considering Chet was part of the Nashville system that tried to control Waylon.

  • BEAUTIFUL song and what an allstar cast!!!! Yes Mark Knopfler and all..SWEET!!!!

  • Wow! There is Mark Knopfler my Hero!!

  • So underated.

  • At 0:30, is that Mark Knopfler?

  • @krotci Yup!

  • @krotci Wow. Looks like Knopfler.

  • Love this song

  • ...Pretty fair backup group...Emmy Lou Harris, and Don and Phil Everly!

  • r i p wayion

  • God...he sounds good on here...looks pretty good too!

Ya think Chet Atkins is proud of his "Star"?

  • @teeger66

    He sure does!! LOL..

  • get um waylon!!!!!

  • who introduces him in this song? i saw a video 20 years ago with him and i think wearing that outfit sing a song called or about "dad" - can anyone help me with this - im wanna see that video again thanks

  • @garyjohnson1984

     Legendary Chet Atkins.

  • @garyjohnson1984 That was Chet Atkins, one of the greatest guitarists ever.

  • LOVETHEMAN, LOVETHESONG. Named my son sfter him in 78. "I would walk through Hell on Sunday to see my Rose in Paradise". R.I.P. WAYLON. Thanks for post........

  • That is a million dollar guitar section, Knoffler and Chet Atkins

  • What exactly is this song about? I've pretty much got the idea but need an opinion on it?

  • @kountryboy338 A rich banker marries a beautiful woman and moves her into his mansion. The banker was extremely jealous and hired a gardner to watch over her while he was gone. The gardner either ran off with the wopman or the banker killed them both but, either way he misses her and sits in the garden thinking about her.

  • he was a good one. too bad he is gone

  • its rose in paradise

  • my two favorite voices in country music: Waylon Jennings and Ronnie Dunn!

  • sounds like the late, great Terry McMillan on harmonica

  • i have to agree with swami22 Waylon= THE MAN just like kobe= RAPIST

  • I love this song.

  • With hoss out front u just can't lose one of the best songs ever by the best ever . We miss u Waymore

  • Been a number one fan since the day i was born - honestly...there will always be only one ...Waylon Jennings....

  • Chris young and Willie Nelson do this song on Chris Young's new CD. It's an awesome cover.

  • Sorry I meant wife and gardner.

  • After years of hearing this, I wonder if the banker killed his wife and the banker.

  • This show "Chet Atkins, Certified Guitar Player" was just on my local PBS station last night. I was was hoping I could find this clip of Waylon. Great man....cool song. Also Emmy Lou Harris and the Everly Brothers on backup vocals.

  • @RedDirtRules is Albert Lee on stage playing guitar also?

  • @jmoss35976 No, I don't see Albert Lee on stage, but that's Michael McDonald(The Doobie Brothers) on Keyboards.

  • @RedDirtRules who is playing the red guitar at 1:48?

  • @jmoss35976 At 1:48 - Eric Clapton.

  • @clanusil no,,, that isnt Clapton

  • @RedDirtRules and the Everley Brothers and Emmy Lou singing background vocals

  • one of his best songs

  • I agree

  • Great song. Mark Knopfler was a guest as well I see.

  • good eye. thanks for the heads up. heros both

  • Waylon = THE MAN

  • This was a TV special called "Chet Atkins - Certified Guitar Player". I taped it off TV probably 20 years ago and still watch it from time to time. Amazing lyrics, one of a kind voice.

  • solid gold!

  • Great, just great. Anybody know which Chett Atkins show this is from and if it's on video anywhere? It's got to be worth having with that line-up

  • @tommyboy39- hey, whats the good of posting if ya dont read ? i read mostly. well, those roads are all paved now, but i still got that truck. for me, the beer is no good. never got rid of her and only made me think this song in a diffrent way.

  • this song sure reminds me of the good ole days. that you here people talk about. the years ago memories and the woman we lost memories. and just simply the beer drinking while driving a truck down that old dusty roads memories. with memories like that then a man can die knowing that he once lived and had fun and loved most of all. priceless my friends. rip waylon and thanks for the memories. god bless you and youre familly.

  • That is music! Thank God for the The Outlaw. These modern excuses for "country musicians" would be well served to take a lesson from Waylon.

  • "Walk through Hell on Sunday!" Heard that!! God speed, Hoss!

    Sam, Towson, MD

  • haw woop woop

  • History!!!!

  • What a backup band, Emily Lou Harris and the Everly Brothers singing backup, Chet Adkins and Mark Knopfler playing rhythm...sweet.

  • Where did country music like this go ?

  • rip waylon

  • I love this video it is my favorite of all time by waylon.

  • My Favorite!!

  • great song...Wish country still sounded like this.

  • @cntrybabygrl388 they still have some artists that do this kind of stuff, they just don't play them on Top 40 stations anymore, check satellite Outlaw Country channel... that's where I get MY fix ...

  • @cntrybabygrl388 me and you both kinda depressing

  • @cntrybabygrl388 country will never sound like this again there is only one Waylon Jennings

  • the greatest god i wish i saw waylon live what a privlege that would hav been

  • Great song. Waylon is great.

  • Waylon was known as the most handsome man in country music. His Music makes him a legend.

  • Waylon was a very big influence on us corn fed country pickers, and still is!!

  • AMEN to that brother!

  • Waylon was new into recovery at this time, right? he had supposedly got off the hard chit! gotta respect that for those like me that have been through that suicide!

  • played faster?? i think it might have something to do with the cocaine? but maybe they only had so much time. either way you're right it is better. he sure could pick a lead guitar. i always liked the part on country music awards show where willie was getting a pioneer award and Waylon was saying on camera that willie didn't have no damn rhythm that was price less. rip waylon

  • Could have been the drugs but I think it was more his and Richie's style to rock it up like that. Mental Revenge and Jack-A-Diamonds are great examples of this!

  • Waylon kicked the drugs in 1984. I believe Rose in Paradise was his last number one hit, 1987. Waylon was absolutely the best and i have heard no one that can come close to his talent. I also love Jack-a-diamonds.

  • Only thing that even comes close is his boy Shooter Jennings. Shooter does what he wants, how he wants, and when he wants. just like Waylon did.

  • WRONG!!..Actually that was the name of his last hit, "Wrong"

  • In most cases Waylon's live performances are faster than his recordings for some reason and I like them better that way (faster). I can't even listen to the recorded version of "Are you ready for the country" anymore...

  • mark knopfler rules

  • Comment removed

  • yes sir, he does. everyone on that stage rules!

  • I have never herd this Waylon song. I like it so much I will record it and post it on You Tube. Hope the host lets Working Without A Net be posted here. Sherrill

  • haha a star haha ye he found a star who became a bloddy legend and in my opinion the greatest country music singer of all time we all love waylon jennings wel ppl who appreciate gd music anyway

  • I just love this song and think it is one of Waylon's best. He looks so happy and healthy. But even more so, his voice is just so terrific. The tempo is defintely fast. I don't think Chet Atkins could keep up with it. The song just seems to have been made for Waylon. I really don't know of anyone else who has ever recorded this song. Probably is someone else out there who does.

  • You sure couldn't do it any better, could you?

    WAYLON RULES!

  • this is just a very good song. writen by that guy from dire straits uhh mark knopfler. but he couldn't preform it this good.

  • This is my favorite song of all time. Waylon Jennings is not a god but beyond any man.

  • Waylon does look great here.

  • This song is one of my many Waylon favorites. However, I think the timing is a lot faster than he performed it on his records/CDs. What I also really like is that Waylon looks so well and happy with himself and his music singing this song. Clean and sober definitely looked good on him. Waylon was definitely one of a kind.

  • He definitely changed the face of country music for the rest of them.

  • man i love this song and i sure do mis Waylon RIP

  • I don`t know man, this is like the best song of all time...

  • ok- now I read the rest of the comments and see it was MK... I love it! 2 of my favorites!

  • was that Mark Knopfler at 0.33? Wow- neat combo!

  • Was that George Bush Sr. ?? He introduced him like a Bush would, "I found myself a star, and he are one, Waylon Jennings" lol

  • I'd take a Bush over an obamba

  • Me to man! Any day of the week!

  • Intro guy is Chet Atkins.

  • Is it just me, or is the guy that introduces him look like George W. Bush?

  • Haven't heard this song in 15 years or more.

    Can't beat Waylon.

  • Rose In Paradise...

  • Cool to see his buddy Mark Knopfler pickin' with him too

  • Rose of Paradise - such a lovely song! And I really believe that Waylon is a rose on the countryheaven:-)

  • If they ever make a movie based on this song I hope they do a better job than they did with "Ode to Billy Joe"!!

  • I would like to see someone make a movie about this song. When I hear this song I can see the bankers pretty wife. And him telling people he would walk thru hell on sunday to get her back. That's love baby, that love!!!

  • Favourie WJ song

  • Who else but Waylon would have the Everly Brothers and Emmylou Harris backing him up on vocals and Chet Akins and Mark Knopfler backing him up on guitar? This is one of my most favorite Waylon songs... well hell, they're all my favorite, but still...

  • Who is the guy who introduces Waylon??

  • Just three words say it all:

    "Waylon F@#king Jennings"!!!!!!

  • Kind of funny you say WFJ. When I am referring to somebody being the best at what they do I always pull the WFJ line out! Example: "He is the Waylong F@*king Jennings of trucking..." :)

  • Chet Atkins!

  • I absolutely love this song. Stll gives me goosebumps when I hear it.

  • I seen Buddy Jewel sing this song on the Grand Ole Opry live about one year ago..He would have made Waylon proud! The crowd went wild! I love the song!! Thanks for posting!!

  • thank you for the post waylon i think sang everything with jesse in mind an same with jesse colter god bless them both

  • Great song! Thanks!

  • is that mark knoffler on lead???

  • Yup! The man himself!

  • great guitarist!!! thanx for the reply!!!

  • from Dire Straits?

  • yep the very one!

  • They don't make 'em like that anymore...

  • loved this man...

  • I love this song, Waylon is a legend!! I do believe

  • LEDGEND! Rest in Peace WAYLON!

  • Still to this day his unique voice is like no other!!! AWESOME SONG!!!!
