  • Absolutely beautiful ,a tear has just dripped on to my keyboard. Thanks for posting.

  • Such a philosophic song...metaphysically existential. Yet, maybe that is the only kind of metaphysics...an existentially based one!

  • We must climb on our tears, and be silent...

  • The young lady is almost certainly Anna Pottier, Irving Layton's fifth and last wife - 48 years his junior.

  • Que parecido a Alfredo Zitarroza.

  • Irving Layton's gesture at 2:02 when he hears the word Jerusalem. Great.

  • @deadlesblue

yeah, that woman wants to shag Len all over, deffo.

  • sin duda, para mi la mejor, la mas profunda del grande leonard cohen

  • o tangle of matter and ghost........such poetry...x

  • As much as a musician, songwriter, poet says that they don't care what people think about their work, here you can see that it matters to Leonard and that it is the way our work affects the lives of others that gives it meaning and keeps us creating as he has continued to do.

  • Haunting melody, an absolute delight ( and I have never heard it before)!

  • Sadly, the great poet, Irving Layton, developed Alzheimer's and deteriorated in his later years. This is so lovely. The two poets, the exquisite music and the naturalness of the relationship.

  • My favourite Cohen song. Dedicated to one dear one, now battling the big C. "Darling of angels".

  • That woman so wants Cohen, her husband should be jealous

  • Irving Layton and his student Leonard Cohen - two great Canadian poets. Always liked Layton's amazement and his talk about Cohen after this song in the movie.

  • I don't think Leonard was his student. He even said so. Besides, their styles are so different. No?

  • @ashburnhouse You tell me whether Leonard was a "student" of Layton's: Cohen once said of Layton, "I taught him how to dress - he taught me how to live forever!"

  • @96Heidi The comment is ironic, so no.

  • This clip is amazing. One of my own personal favourites. All Cohen's songs are intimate confessions, this one is psalmic and breathtakingly beautiful.

Who is the mysterious lady that cannot take her eyes of Leonard?

  • Very personal clips.

This song is one my favourites .

Ive wondered why Leonard doesn't sing it on his tour.

Thanks for the many great videos

  • The gentleman is Leonard's friend and mentor, the Canadian poet Irving Layton.

  • A strange clip, but brilliant to see!

  • As you say, simply beautiful and, as his friend points out, it is as a composer that he often shines. Lovely music and gorgeous lyrics. Thank you for sharing it :o)

  • Beautifully strange...
