I've never seen SpyvSpy live. Way back in around '87-88 a friend came back from Oz and said "hey, you should listen to this band" and went on to explain the story behind Sallie-Anne. I was immediately hooked and after all these years, I am absolutely rapt to find this video, long after losing the bootleg cassette I'd been given. Fantastic.
General Bourke Parra.... with mi sis.... right up against the stage....fought for a bit of broken drumstick (n got it thanx) AWESOME noight!!! Poor kids of today. Totally agree with most comments
going to see the Spys on thur 16th dec 2010 in dee why. looked online and theres 2 bands, spy v spy and vpsyspy. but should be a great flashback to the 80's.
They were great in their inception at the Sydney Trade Union Club. They had some good early recordings including the instrumental 'Table tea & Mix' which have not been uploaded.
In the eighties I saw the Spys at the Entertainment Centre - Sydney with an Irish Band with Bono Scott. I can't remember their name. While Bono Scott was singing the crowd were screaming for the Spys. Old song stirs the memory
Craig that vocal of yours will never be topped or even matched in ozzy rock. Thanks for your contribution to my musical taste. Hope to try some of your cooking one day as well. LOL
ahh the tivoli night club , fond memories pulled down to make a high rise , when are the boys going to tour melbourne , haven't seen them since late 80's
What a great tribute to a woman who refused to sit by and watch injustice, corruption and the murder of her lover go unheard. Think whatever you like about Sallie Anne Huckstepp and her choices in life but think about the bravery and conviction and admire those qualities if not anything else. Thank you spy vs spy and rest in peace Sally
A very fitting tribute to Sally a woman who I have great admiration for. Sally Anne thought against the injustice of police brutality corruption and the murder of the man that she loved, she knew she would die for speaking up and ultimately died for her beliefs she is a true hero. Thanx spy vs spy for paying tribute to Sally Anne a woman who truly deserves it!
last year mum told dodgy Rodger Rogerson to move his fucken car at bunnings here on the coast...he was the reason Sally Anne Huckstep was murdered in centenial park years ago in the pond. thats why this song was written about the original underbelly of Australia...the corrupt cops...
gotta agree with you rocco, sigh.... i miss the ol 80's bands, the oils, sunnyboys, spy vs spy, radiators,,,, wish those days could come back... (i must be getting old too)
Haaa good old Caringbah Inn, no more bands there now, in fact even the bottle'o has gone. I remember seeing the Divinyls there in 87 but only really remember 5 mins of it ;)
Yeah more townhouses and units with shops below, the bottle'o just moved to the back street behind the old carpark. De La still there! No cafes really in C'bah but go to Gymea up the most northern end and you'd spin out at the crowds that sip their lattes ha ha. The Shire is not what it once was. At least the C'bah Bizzos gets decents bands on occasion. I won't even begin to describe Cronulla today ... well just picture Surfers ...
Did you say hip hop, dance and good in the same sentence, now thats funny. Your right there is heaps of good Aussie music out there but they aren't doing Hip hop my friend.Apart from having good rhyming skills it really is just ripping off other peoples music to hide the fact that they have very little musical talent. (hiphop and dance music I'm referring to) Come on, you know I'm right.
What ever did happen to the great Aussie pub band? The eighties were a great time to go see an awesome band in a pub. Spy v Spy, Sonnyboys, Ratcat to name just a few. The kids these days being fed fake crap gangsta rap shit and faggot boy dance groups etc, just don't realise what they are missing out on. Real bands doing songs they wrote and that come from the heart, not just to some formula to sell to 11yr old girls and morons who can't think for themselves. I must be getting old :-(
you think bands have monopoly on underground music.. theres allways been commercial shit to shovel to the kids...but just cause youve never heard the good stuff (hiphop, dance etc) doesnt mean it isnt out there ... theres heaps of good aussie music out there
@rrrocco Old music created too many strong emotions in people, and were too strongly politically driven, not to mention intelligent. Its against todays modern agenda.
A great song... I'm glad I found this here... I've looked for Spy v Spy songs here in the past, and didn't find what I was looking for, so thanks for all your great uploads :) ...
love this song...

agree.. remember 3 bands for $15! now its $400for 1 crap band
I think the issue is there are no venues left, or if there are, they want too much money or are seen as too small
Remember seeing Midnight oil, Rads, Spys, Angels, dozens more all at Caringbah Inn... and that area was TINY...
We need another massive concert just with 80's aussie bands.
truespyfan 3 years ago 11
supply the beer and bourbon and they will come!!!! hahaha...id love to do a concert like that...get to mix all my favs from the eighties...
