Thanks so much for the video. It brought a tear to my eye. Takes me back to when I was a kid, cheering for Harmon and Tony-O at the old Met... Sad to see those days going, going, gone.
Hey Rachelizabeth47, I'm a Pittsburgh Pirate fan, but more importantly, I'm a baseball fan! (58 y/o) I Love Baseball especially because of a person like Mr. Killbrew who lived his life and played the game with class! No cheating (steroids) and gave so much more back to the kids especially his work with handicapped kids. Thank you so much for sharing this with us all, it's a fabulous video and song! God Bless you!
Thank you so much for this beautiful tribute, @Rachelizabeth47. Harm was my baseball idol, as I started following the Twins in 1964, at age 12-13yrs old. Many visits to Met Stadium and a constant transistor radio with me during their games. Loved listening to Halsey & Herb on 'CCO. What a wonderful man to look up to.
@repad Maybe you can answer my question then. Who are the guys the singer says he had on the radio? I'm only 22, so John Gordon is all I know.. haha. (and Dazzle of course)
@Rachelizabeth47 "Hall" is Halsey Hall. I don't know who the "Hawk" is he's refering to. This is what I found for Twins history, of the radio broadcast.
"The original radio voices of the Twins in 1961 were Ray Scott, Halsey Hall and Bob Wolff. After the first season, Herb Carneal replaced Wolff."
I began following Harmon as a youngster in Washington DC before the Senators moved to Minnesota. Rather than finding another local idol I became, and still am, a Twins fan. Heroes like Harmon are hard to find these days. Great tribute. Thanks for posting it.
I'm his 3rd cousin or something...

Thank you for the great video. I think the "Hawk" that Halsey Hall refers to is Ken "The Hawk" Harrelson.

@kpederson1 I don't think Hawk ever did the Twins on the radio :)
I emailed the booth about it. Maybe they'll select my question.

@kpederson1 I figured it out, he's saying Halsey Hall... lol.

Very touching video. MN sports just had a terrible and somber day. It's nice to remember the good things.

@essemjay58 It's just called Harmon Killebrew! It was on a CD I won in the Twins Kids Club back in 1996. :)
