  • snow is good and bad . but zombies dont like snow . it slowes pepole down

  • I want to say thank you for your videos. My husband and I are new to Prepping and it has been very helpful that a lot of preppers are willing to put forth the time and effort to educate others. Keep up the great work.

  • You have a very beautiful home.

  • great vid ! thanks. the sound of that crunching snow...brrr, must be cold. nice layout. lots of projects going on. neighbors ever help you? best of luck. i admire you.

  • Does anyone have any info/leads on unimproved acres in the southern US at $1000 an acre or cheaper?

  • You dont sound like your originally from SC. Im from NY. Been in NC for 5 years now. Great farm.

  • Feel sorry for the dude in this video. Got some major blackness under the eyes.

  • @MRSketch09 yeah, but there's some major light in his words and his deeds. I wish I was his neighbour, I'd love to work with him. But since the US have become a police state, I won't even visit the country. southernprepper, thanks a lot for the video!

  • @BilboBagginsRulez Yeah, but I've had black rings get under my eyes before like that, and it was when I was majorily stressed and had been getting very little sleep. I guess you could say I was slighly concerned and made a comment on it.

Also this was the first vid of his I watched, and yeah he seems like a alright fellow at first glance.

  • @MRSketch09 *slightly

  • @MRSketch09 "yeah he seems like a alright fellow at first glance. "

And so do you! All the best to the both of you from Germany!

  • @BilboBagginsRulez What's your perspective on whats going on in the US economically? Curious because you probably have a unique view.

  • @MRSketch09 Whoa, that's some question to answer! Can you specify a little bit? I'm surely no expert on US economics, by the way.

  • @BilboBagginsRulez Well, I mean germany has had its share of econmomic problems in the past, (I don't have a clue how old you are) so based on that.. maybe you went through some of these times, got to see what the local news was doing and saying, was curious what you think about the US situtation in comparison.

"The hyperinflation in the Weimar Republic was a three year period of hyperinflation in Germany"

  • @MRSketch09 Well the Weimar Republic took place between 1918 and 1933. After 1948 there was no real serious problem that could be felt for normal people. From then on no one ever had to starve or to freeze. The economic situation of the US today can't be compared to any crisis in Germany. Still, it's best compared to the situation of the moment in Germany. We are living in extremely unpredictable times. Almost everything is possible. I don't want o be rude, but even explainig a few..

  • @MRSketch09 ...probable scenarios would take me to long to describe. In short, I think no one should panic, but everyone should be prepared for a rough ride. I'm doing so for far more than ten years now (I started slowly with Germany's reunion (because of the debts)), and I'm very happy to have done that. It's easy and not too expensive, and it's useful even if collapse won't happen. At the moment, I am planning for a house to build on a piece of land I aquired ten years ago, and..

  • @MRSketch09 ...The biggest difference between the US and Germany is everything concerning firearms.

  • Comment removed

  • @MRSketch09 ... and not to forget: in Germany we don't have something like the NDAA (NDAA should trouble every thinking person in- and outside the US) . But you asked about economy.

  • @MrBiohak South Carolina

  • @southernprepper1 Well I have to concede you are in the South. Ypou should be proud in what you have accomplished.

  • were is this place it like exacly the place that i want to live one day and raise my "to be" family

  • Just wait until he finds redit, all productivity will be G-O-N-E

  • you have a great looking place, wish land wash cheap over here in the UK, but it's so expensive, so I guess i'll just stick with being an urban homesteader. God Bless

  • "Rocks are not cheap"...Don't know why that tickled me, but it did, hugely. Thanks for the tour!

  • ha ha a "stick in the mud"! I love it, my grandfather used to always call me that. Great video and advice!

  • Youtube is basic cable with the nasty bits left in - i.e. the old no-sub idea.

  • thank you so much for showing us around! never thought you would do a tour of your homestead like this, but im really glad you did! but maybe also a tour during the spring/summer?? well, take care.

  • hugulcuture check it out

  • Farm land is dwindling. But we bought an acreage and love it. I hope for more acreages and self sufficient people on them. Its not about 4 wheeling every day. We bought 2 years ago when we sold our city home. I HATE HARLEY's and the noise they make. I will listen to a PRODUCTIVE diesel any day compared to that crap!!

  • @YiuTeub we are renting out our big house in the city and now living on family land out in the country mortgage free to save up and buy our own homestead but we do plan on getting to work on the family land while we are here anyway!

  • @moroccantreasures Its alot of work but so nice and rewarding. Have fun doing it though.

  • I remember that snow/ice storm...it shut down Alanta and here in Charlotte for a few days. Great Video.

  • I see you were in the infantry. I spent a little time at Ft. Benning myself.

  • I agree with his "Cable TV" comment - I have NEVER had Cable TV and the savings applied to things like my BOB (Bug-Out Bag) and survival area/supplies has been enormous over time.

  • amazing amazing place.

  • Excellent post! I just bought a 6 acre homestead. Just put up my first greenhouse. What do you do to bring in money? Sell eggs? Just curious, I'm looking for ways for my homestead to produce what little money I actually need. Taxes, fuel, food that I can't grow, etc.

    Thanks!

  • i saw you on doomsday preppers and wondered how many years of military experience do u have if u dont mind and what kind of engineer was your friend

  • Comment removed

  • Damn, I tip my hat to your master carpentry! Beautiful land, awesome designs and I'm sure you've got plenty of acres for your own.

    Thanks for sharing. =D

  • Hey, southernprepper. I really enjoy your videos, greatly educational.

What state do you live in, if you don't mind me asking?

  • @GuestUser127001 I'm not being a jerk here, I just literally want to know the answer you guys offer. Bugging out is a term originally used by clandestine operatives etc... when they needed to high tale it etc... when things got sticky. That being said why do you guys want to bug out etc.. to these kind of places when the SHTF? Why wouldn't you STAY in your hardened location IE your home etc... Do you really think you will be better off fleeing your home? For these cabins etc.... Thank you.

  • @bnsaints For most people that bug out, they live in a town. When things get sticky, people who don't prepare will start rioting. I wouldn't want to be caught in that, so I moved. For some people, they can't move due to jobs or other things, so they elect to buy other property and prep that for shtf.

  • @G I do understand that, but then why all the videos and such on SHTF weapons and rifles? Aren't those weapons for just such an occasion? The rioters and thieves who would hope to come to your home in the city etc... I understand your point but if that is the rationale then why all these videos of guys with AK's and riot gun 12 gauges etc... Just high tale it to the woods and have a hunting rifle and a shotgun. again, I'm not be a wise ass I am truly fascinated to know how others think on this.

  • @bnsaints The thinking is that there may be some who have the same idea as you, but are not prepared, so they will try to steal from you or kill you or both. For that, it's inefficient to have just a hunting rifle/shotgun.

  • Wow, you've got alot of nice buildings.

  • God bless, prepper.

  • Very Inspiring, Thanks for the great Channel !!

  • actually I have cable and there is really only 5 channels tops that are any good

  • wow you do all that work , Do you have a full time job also ?

  • @sky4you2b throw your TV out the window and you will find time for alot of things. Things where done over time just peek at it alittle at a time.

  • @southernprepper1 Lol I keep a tv and play videos only on it for the kids so I can get on youtube and watch your videos in peace.

  • nice homestead

    thanks for sharing

  • Absolutly fantastic spot, man keep up the great work, Very informative video.

  • You hit the nail on the head, it is a matter of what is important in your life. I am currently living in a relatively large city, and am looking for land to homestead. I recently reassessed my life and assessed our most likely future and came to one conclusion - its time to prepare my family to exist in the event of a teotwawki scenario.

    Great video.

  • I keep coming back and watching this .... it helps me get through times when I cant see daylight on us getting our property liveable

  • Cable TV sux

  • Your living style is just amazing... im a 15 year old boy, and nature just amazes me. but the sad fact is, im stuck in a freaking flat in the city. i lived in Tunisia for 11 years, and we had a very big villa, and its seperate from other homes, but since i moved to the uk, all i see and hear is cars, and other people. i wish i could move out one day and buy/build my own homestead on the countryside either here in the UK, or in Tunisia. but you have a really nice homestead!

  • @80VideosMan08

with an attitude like that im sure you will get everything you want one day.

    chin up.

  • Can I be your neighbor? ;-) Great stuff!

  • im sitting here and watching you for hours and hours and hours and hours....

  • I enjoy your videos,..You have alot of great tips,,,I just bought some land in the georgia area next to the chattahoochie natioal forest,..Im tryin to ruff it,.but its so hot, buggy,,I dont see how they did it back in the day,,,any tips on stayin cool,,?,?,?......

  • You should be very proud of what you n your son and your family have accomplished very nice

  • Awesooooooooome.......

  • so do you work a full time job and do these projects? i work on a ranch and its a pain from school to work there haha

  • lol halks on steroids

  • How are the property taxes in out there?

  • @mrhnm Not bad at all compared to up north. Very cheap.

  • @southernprepper1 I live in NM and I was looking at some land in Wyoming 80,000 Acres for 80,000 USD. And there is a river (or at least a fairly large body of moving water) running through it and part of it is on a lake.

The property taxes would be around 100 USD. Because in Wyoming they can only evaluate a property at 9.2% of its worth and tax at 1.2% of that.

I haven't gone up there yet I was just looking at places around the country online to see what looks promisin.

    Thanks for the videos.

  • im curious David because starting my own homestead would be a dream come true to me. I am curious to if you had power there when you bought the land or what kind of process you have to go through to get power, generator im guessing?? and also if you found land with water or how that works too

  • after a minute of this vid, I subscribed!

  • "If you are ready to work, you can get through anything" 10-4 on that!

  • How much did it cost you to buy the land?

  • 286 thumbs up and not a single thumbs down! That's what I like to see

  • Absolutely wonderful!

  • I know this is gonna sound kinda fruity but im only 14 and i wan't to own land in Tennesee to make a long story short we got lost going on a trip to Mexico LOL and I absolutely loved the land. Also i want your Porch its freakin AMAZING!!!!

  • how big is your land?

  • Thanks for sharing. I'm a 46 year old New York City dweller. I plan on purchasing 3-5 acres in upstate New York. I have a 2 year food storage, own Silver and Im waiting for my shotgun License. I look forward to starting my very own homestead. Love your Idea on the 2 chicken coops. any advice for a beginner?

  • @Feneque216 Wow any advice for a beginner??? I really dont know where to begin. Main thing walk your property and camp out on it before you decide where to put the house and other buildings. Plan it out before you start building. But the main thing is have fun and enjoy prepping.

  • @Feneque216 you need a liscence for a shotgun? my brother bought one in 4 minutes... dont you only need like a basic background check?

  • @eddywangchang New York is much more restricted on gun purchasing/ownership than many other states.

  • @Steelflint4D ah... i live in liberal oregon

  • @eddywangchang I live in Arkansas myself, but I work out of state, haven't worked in NY or Oregon yet, but it helps to be familiar, even in generalities, of the gun laws in other states.

  • thank you so much for sharing Im trying to do the same thing...

  • Impressive cache. Interested in the video to follow.

  • Is there a stream or creak on or near your property? one of the things I've been thinking about is possibly creating a waterwheel to produce power. Any thoughts?

  • man i love the country side your area looks verry nice great job

  • We are a lot alike. May God bless and keep you.

  • damn its not that i cant afford it; well maybe a lot of it i cant, but damn you seem like a jack of all trades.

  • PEOPLE THIS THE WAY TO REACH THE YOUTH !!! (bill off rights)

    /watch?v=KINGYf7pdJE&feature=related

imma be bumping this while im driving down-town looking at hot chicks !!

    Grtz from holland

  • wow, those are some serious skills you have, those structures look professionally made.

  • Great looking place!

  • That is a really nice place. I would have guessed more than 3 acers! Really appreciate the tour and all you vids! Keep up the good work!!

  • To beat the system, you have to be smarter than the system. To be smarter than the system, you have to beat the system. Now do you understand the system?

  • Great video my friend. Hard Work is the key to survival in all cases.

  • If you don't mind me asking, what is your profession? I just wonder how you have had the time and materials to set up your community and prep like this.

  • Do you have a varmint rifle?

If not, a .223 bolt action would seem to fit the bill for you, a good remington, Howa M-1500, or Savage will surely outlast an AR.

  • As a guy who grew up on a farm out in the country back in the 50's, and 60's, I certainly admire what you are trying to do for your family and yourself. Keep going, you are making a lot of progress.

  • Thanks for the hard work and sharing your insight with all of us . . . much appreciated!

  • I am loving you videos, they make me want to be more like you when I grow up! I am currently working my self out of debt of my current home. Once done or a little further along I would love to have a piece of land away from the world like you have. Im good with my hands and I guess not too dumb so I think I can do it, just need some time.

  • Wow, nice job SP1!

  • keep up the good work, and by the way, where is a good place to look for old drums/ barrels for my caches?

  • @fastdreamsgt1 Free sections in the paper,Craiglist or contact a oil company they might have some for you.

  • Really nice homestead, looks like you have it all planned out. Great job and thanks for sharing

  • Thanks for sharing so much!!

  • very inspiring video for someone like me who would like to this one day. thanks !!!

  • Great property and thanks for the tour.

  • Nice video man, love your retreat! You really put hard work into it, respect.

I hope you will continue to make videos, they are really inspiring!

Keep up the good work bro.

  • This is how I would like to live when I move out.

    I hate the city.

  • Recycled blocks? I would love to know the types of places to look for good deals on these types of things.

  • very cool thanks for sharing definitely gives me inspiration to save money and get some land of my own.

  • Beautiful place. Would love to see it in the summer. You must have alot of time on your hands to build and maintain a homestead like that. I farm and work pretty much seven days a week. Don't have time to even mow the lawn on my "homestead".

  • cool deal, could you do a vid with no snow so as t see easier

  • take many year? We got about six month left.

  • Don't take this the wrong way but i would store my propane and fuel tank on opposite sides of the homestead. The gas tank is more likely to go up but it is definitely enough to take the propane cylinders with it. All your eggs in one basket

  • @johnlynch90 That is a good point. I have 2 100 pound propane tanks somewhere else but Iam going to think about this and consider having 2 fuel points because of your great comment. Thanks for sharing this.

  • Hi there southern! I wonder if u own the land your on? If so, then u don't have no worries there banks come after your butt for whatever reason to get it from ya :-)

I realy would love having such nice outage homestead, sure dream come treu brother. Hard work serves good i would think, heres example, good job there.

I'm in the city, well sort of, and thinking get out of here very soon!

Peace to u and thanks sharing with us!

  • @michelb08 I built everything and bought the land with no bank loan. That is why it has taken so long and alot of project are not totally done. Iam still peeking away at it. I could get a loan and really get it done quickly but I dont want to put the property up as collateral. So just keep peeking at it. One bite at a time.

  • @southernprepper1 I would help ya out if was in the neighbourhood, just doing stuff u forgot :)

Good thoughts, let things construct itself and in the end (if there is any) one be satisfied with. I have been told to by others, it never will be finished, even tho you would think so, theres always stuff you want to do or change. I bet you have the same thing, cause your obviously very creative personality.

Have fun southern and be well!

    Peace

  • You've been blessed. Your place is stunningly beautiful and your hard work is evident, everywhere. I'd love to see the mountain laurel screen when it's covered with morning glories.

  • By "retreat" do you mean that this is a secondary property? I personally would love to have a second property like this, but I don't think I'd be willing to live on it. I'm so used to the suburban lifestyle and I love it.

  • PS I do not see gutering on your roofs.. gutter and barrels are great rain water capture systems do not overlook the importance of water

  • @dsarti1 No gutters on the tool shed yet. I have the tank inside but gutters will probably be in the next 2 weeks. Iam excited to get them up so I can start saving water. I have the electric pump to hook to the tank and a 2inch gas powered pump and a small solar pump so I can still move water with no power grid and no noise. Its a small pump but will work. When I get it done I will show you in a video.

  • @southernprepper1 when are you gonna make new videos

  • I wish I was in better shape to do more stuff like that Also check out plumcott trees form willis orchard they grow really good in this area

  • So correct!

  • Sir, I love the video. I used to live in Vermont where the air is sweet and the people are great. My goal is to move out into a rural area someday. The only thing stopping my family is the value of my house and my high mortgage - - ugg I'm stuck at the moment! But someday! So, I meant to say...I'm very jeolous! You have a done a great job as a prepper.. Keep the faith.. k9gypo

  • Your home is beautiful. I can only dream of having something like that some day

  • Thanks for the continued inspiration. You have opened your home, life and projects to us. It takes a special person to do that and it is aprreciated.

  • 110% my favorite youtube channel and for good reasons.

  • The county jails around here get laundry detergent in plastic 30 gallon barrels - less rust and a smaller hole to dig than 55 gal barrels

  • Good Am...A bit of adive , you may want to get rid of all your evergreen trees , the fruit trees do much better without them around...as bad as I hated to do it I cut most of mine to give our fruit trees a better chance of bearing...Hope this may help , God bless...

  • i will be going into the Army so in about five years i will start building my future home. i plan to have a plot of land alot like yours, and yours looks great. lets hope all this economy and over spending stuff levels out long enough for me to get established. last thing i want is to be in the middle east when SHTF.

  • Thanks for showing us your place it is very nice. Hard work is the key to anything worth having, and you have done good sir.

  • Awesome homestead! Inspiring man, SP1 is!

  • Did you need permits to build on your land and plans or did you just do it on your own?

  • Thanks for the video. We have some homestead property here, and we are going to start looking into improving it this spring. Great thing you are doing, SP1. Thank you!

  • We are very fortunate to have you sharing wilt us. Thanks. My main concern now is how to obtain and store necessary prescription medications for myself and my older relatives. I am 58 so parents and uncles are much older. Any suggestions would help.

  • Nice stash of propane you have there. I would like to see a how-to video on converting small gasoline engines (generators, lawn tractors) to propane.

  • Nice video. Only thing i don't understand is are you married? Here where i live women want a new home every 3-4 years or it's time for divorce. All my brothers have been divorced and they & I, we have that "hard work ethic" from growing up on a dairy farm. I can't stand females!!!!!!!!!

  • @jasonmushersee Yes Iam married and have been for 20 1/2 years and going strong.

  • @southernprepper1 what kind of military boots do you have

  • @jasonmushersee Wow......guess you have not met the right female. (I'm married...18 yrs an never a fight! And he is 15 yrs younger than I am) I love where we live and would never want to move. Takes too much work! ;-)

    Best of luck to you.

  • @jasonmushersee Sweet pea, all of your pickers are off. You have to pick a woman with the same goals and hard work ethic, not just the pretty blonde that is worried about her nails and her hair roots. Good Luck to ya.

  • Beautiful place you got there. It is also nice to see someone else with a project list a mile long. You seem to be up beat about it though. My list sometimes becomes a huge burden. A#2

  • Right on. People need to turn the psy-box off, and do something with family. I have camo'd my fuel tanks from most eyes, and from the air. I have found many cache tanks for free, or for 50 bucks, in the local Sat "shopper". I really like the block wall; for more than it's aesthetic purposes.

Working on what fruit and nut tree's I can grow here for this yr. Everyone needs to just do what they can. Thanks for sharing.

  • Awesome. On your barb wire about 2-3 more inch space above fence is best for trippin up people. I have horse fence & barb here at my Tx Hill Country double wide homestead. Great Channel Thx.

  • Nice place. A lot of hard work there. How long have you been working at it? I have some land but just getting started on some projects. Thanks again for taking the time to share important info with people...

  • Earthdome homes can be built by a crew of 5 in a week!

  • Excellent inspiration

  • Very nice place you have

  • It is a lot of work, one thing that we got that has been a great blessing is a John Deere 990 tractor with front end loader, backhoe, auger, blade/rake combo and a plow. I just love the ranch. wish I would have started ranching years ago.

  • When people ask, whats the reason for living, whats the purpose of life... This is it.

  • 2 chicken coops will also help a lot if a disease breaks out assuming you do not share equipment between them day to day. If your chickens are free ranging in wide open spaces, you might consider spotting the area with some low structures they can run under when a hawk appears. Anything about 18"' high they can get under would work, hawks cant fly under and wont walk under to grab a chick. Nice spot SP when can I visit! :)

    -TEW

  • I Learned a lot - as usual! I love the two chicken coop idea. Living in the city, we can't really store much fuel. Ordinances and space limit us severely.. I can see how, with as sprawling as your homestead is, it would be pretty difficult to defend without combat multipliers like obstacles and early warning devices...

  • Out west with the Santa Ana winds forest lands and trees burn like tall grass. I'm a fire fighter of 20 years in Missouri, we have many wild land fires every year. In most areas of the US the forest doesn't burn like in the Smokey Bear commericials or like it does out west. It only burns trees if it hits an area of huge fuel loads like cut timber piles around standing timber. Normally a woods fire only burns the underbrush and doesn't kill or really hurt the larger trees.

  • In most areas keep the brush cleaned and cut down within a couple hundred feet of your home and out buildings and keep the grass cut short and regularly, especially during the dry season. During dry seasons (all summer) keep a garden hose attached at every out building.

  • You are very priviledged to have land and a quality work ethic to do what you have accomplished.

  • Hey! I really like your vehicles and am looking forward to your fuel storage vehicle. BTW, you don't sound like a Southern Boy more like PA or even Ohio. I was born and raised in the South, ... South Bronx! Really though I spent many years in the South in the coal industry.

    Keep up the good work.

    Richard of Danbury

  • We've had fox, owl, and racoon problems with the chickens too, lots of stuff like the taste of chicken.

  • I love the board and bat look...nice place

  • Southern Good vid may bee you can bring us inside some time. It shows Your hard work pays off.
