..the friend who also saw this object ran inside the house in shock and literally hid behind the couch in shock and would not/could not speak about what he had seen. We are both adult males and not easily spooked but it sure scared him senseless..i personally did not leave the house and drive home untill the sun had come up :). That's a particularly good theme you've touch upon Val. Pieces of knowledge. We are still learning so much about the universe. Because of its shear size. The vast distances involved. Constraints in technology to enable high velocity travel over vast interstella distances and limited lifespans will mean the universe may never yield all its secrets to mankind.

How can someone/some people say they saw something that looked about a half mile or a mile long? Surely a big thing close up looks big and a big thing far away looks small. The moon looks very, very small to me (I could fit it into my hand). The earth is clearly much bigger than me because I see myself tiny upon it.

Sometimes people think that I'm more likely to see a UFO because I'm a pilot. Well, during a night flight I actually did see an Unidentified Flying Object...for a moment. Then I identified it.
The majority of us come by every week to watch Val paint and then we comment on her work. We enjoy the small talk that we share with her and each other. I personally don't care what your political affiliation is, but this is not the place to try and gather votes for your favorite candidate. Plus, it's just plain wrong to put Val in the position of picking sides, which is exactly what you're trying to do.
I saw something that looked like an airplane, but I couldn't tell what it was. It was darting around the sky and flashing a little red light every second.
Then I discovered it was ahelicopter, but for those breif moments when I couldn't identify it, and it was unidentified, it was a UFO.
If 1% of the stars in our galaxy had planets, and 1% of those planets were capable of supporting life, and 1% of those planets had life, and if 1% of the planets had intelligent life , there would be approx 1 million planets like our own with civilizations. Are we alone? Probally not.

The universe is approximately 13.5 Billion years old. The earth is approximately 4.5 billion years old. Science has figured out quite a bit, however 96% of the forces in the universe are unaccounted for, they are referred to as Dark Energy and Dark Matter at this time. We have yet to find the means to detect these forces, yet we see the effect of their actions on the universe.
I don't believe it's absolutely right to make any definite statements about how old the universe and earth are or anything else that is what we refer to as fact. Because facts do change and everything we say is fact could be wrong. For example, a few hundred years ago we said it was a fact that the earth was flat and that everything including the sun revolved around the Earth.
Thank you! Theories are evolving all the time, that is the point. The important thing for me at lest is the pursuit of truth based on scientific proofs. I for one think we have come a long way from "the earth is flat".

the fact of the matter is that almost all modern techonology is based on 200 year old mathematics meaning that although it may be wrong in several extreme cases, newtonian mechanics is correct for the vast majority of cases. hence we have more then "3 pieces." That's a particularly good theme you've touch upon Val. Pieces of knowledge. We are still learning so much about the universe. Because of its shear size. The vast distances involved. Constraints in technology to enable high velocity travel over vast interstella distances and limited lifespans will mean the universe may never yield all its secrets to mankind.

Eh, what I mean is, she seems kinda full of herself. :D She is pretty, cute accent (which I think she really tries to play up too much as well) great artist... BUT STILL...I dunno. Full of herself? She opens up to everyone. She puts her thoughts and feelings down on canvas and then shares them with us. She's a communicator, which is one of the reasons her fans like her. As far as 'Val' being on her videos...it's her name for heaven's sake! Watch her video 'RE:Miss You Tube Competition' where she does a good job of making fun of herself. If you still don't get her after watching it, then most likely you never will. She is, quite simply ...a good person.

I only say a UFO a very long time ago when I was very young. It was very far away, flew very fast and was circular in shape, and had lights all around the sides.
Till then, the very world of the paranormal always fascinated me :p

Hi Val... As always, I love your art. But, I disagree that our understanding of the universe is primative. While we have only explored a tiny drop in the bucket in terms of universal real estate, we have advanced light years in terms of understanding the laws that govern time and space. Best wishes!

How can someone/some people say they saw something that looked about a half mile or a mile long? Surely a big thing close up looks big and a big thing far away looks small. The moon looks very, very small to me (I could fit it into my hand). The earth is clearly much bigger than me because I see myself tiny upon it.

The majority of us come by every week to watch Val paint and then we comment on her work. We enjoy the small talk that we share with her and each other. I personally don't care what your political affiliation is, but this is not the place to try and gather votes for your favorite candidate. Plus, it's just plain wrong to put Val in the position of picking sides, which is exactly what you're trying to do.

I saw something that looked like an airplane, but I couldn't tell what it was. It was darting around the sky and flashing a little red light every second.
Then I discovered it was ahelicopter, but for those breif moments when I couldn't identify it, and it was unidentified, it was a UFO.

The universe is approximately 13.5 Billion years old. The earth is approximately 4.5 billion years old. Science has figured out quite a bit, however 96% of the forces in the universe are unaccounted for, they are referred to as Dark Energy and Dark Matter at this time. We have yet to find the means to detect these forces, yet we see the effect of their actions on the universe.

I don't believe it's absolutely right to make any definite statements about how old the universe and earth are or anything else that is what we refer to as fact. Because facts do change and everything we say is fact could be wrong. For example, a few hundred years ago we said it was a fact that the earth was flat and that everything including the sun revolved around the Earth.

when i was on a road trip with my mom and dad and sis, we were driving in our RV though eastern oregon, near the boarder of navada and i saw a massive cigar shaped object moving slowly accrost the sky. It made no noise, but i could see a lot of while lights on its side, and then it was gone.

the fact of the matter is that almost all modern techonology is based on 200 year old mathematics meaning that although it may be wrong in several extreme cases, newtonian mechanics is correct for the vast majority of cases. hence we have more then "3 pieces." Also, it is impossible to predict the amount of knowledge we DONT have.
Basically youre just an overambitious arts student with an ego the size of texas, lost in the illusion of your own self importance and intelligence.

Your post is a good example of the dangers of pretending you know more than you do. First you claim that Newtonian mechanics is good enough so we must know more than .3% of the universe. Such a judgment can only be made if you know the whole.
Then you claim to be able to read minds. Would your world be a more comfortable place if she wasn't sharing her ideas?

i am not claiming to know everything and if that is what you concluded then you cant read. What i said was that her estimation/guess was ridiculous.
All we can do is look at past experiences and see how our knowledge has grown. Newtonian mechanics has been around 200+ years and only in extreme cases are we seeing holes in it. Hence we can conclude that other than a few extreme cases, Newtonian mechanics is accurate for every other case that has been observed (which is many)
