@jetbtkng: The "debt" is $14.4 Trillion, not the deficit. When Republicans lost the majority in 2006, the debt was $8.5 Trillion. Democrats spent more in 4 years than ALL debt accumulated from George Washington thru Bill Clinton. That should blow your mind, but for some odd reason, it doesn't.
The "deficit" is near $1.3 Trillion. That is, $1.3 Trillion in spending above & beyond what revenue is. $1.3 Trillion must go away before even a penny is paid towards the $14.4 Trillion "debt".
