@Exorcized1 both Malmsteen and Paul Gilbert are badass shredders and best-like guitarists. they both are in my fav 3 guitarists, and they've been on stage together twice or something. so stfu and think twice before posting a stupid comment just to get some likes by ppl u don't know.
@141211121014HO19 LoL dude ! U understood me completely wrong ! U got no sense of homour ! Malmsteen is one of my favourite guitarists of all-time and one of the biggest influences to me ofc ! I will respect him till death !
@loljoje5 Essentially it's three quick strokes, up, down, up, then a hammer on and pull off.. five notes, three of them are picked.. pretty standard Gilbert technique.. he uses it a LOT.. check out the video on Youtube 'string skipping' for a slow demonstration..
@loljoje5 this motion is realy fast, but not too hard. check out "outsite picking". i can play something similar to this. index on the 5th fret high e, and just going crazy with index ring and pinky on the b and g string. and always coming back to the index, so you get this 4ish rhythm. hard to explain, and freaky fast ;)
@ollie1287 Listen fucker, Paul Gilbert is my favorite guitarist. David Blaine can hold his breathe for 17 minutes, sorry in my book that makes you a badass.
I've seen some old skool G.I.T. commercials where he's shredding as fast as he can (but sounding kinda cool), and him saying, "sometimes, it's not about the notes you play, but the conviction you put into it." I've always pondered that for the last 20 years
damnit why doesn't he put so much distortion on it so that there is almost too much. i cant listen to it knowing it could be so much better. for guitar shredders paul gilbert easily has the worst and horribling tone. Someone should play a tape back to him so he knows how shitty it is. His playing is amzingingly amazing but he taints it with shitty tone. Id rather isten to amazing toned rythms that sit tone buzzy shredding
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
but ive heard videos of him and he only plays a few low notes ona guitar with massive distortion and one note sounds like a powerchord. If he solo'd with that tone people would just die. He could sound so mch better with huge distorted that i cant even listen to this low distortion crap
He's the world's greatest guitarist yet a huge stadium or a small room doesn't make a difference to him, he just wants to rock out. He is definitely my idol.
great videos, but you have made it quite difficult to watch them in order with all this 'BEST EVER!' and 'VERY HIGH QUALITY' crap. but it is very high quality and a great post, so well done on that
Those 2 disslikes are both Malmsteen's accounts !

BTW-I'd love to see Petrucci and Gilbert put out an album together. I'll bet some insanity would come of that!
