  • Bahahahaha the accents are terrible yikes

  • hahahahahahaha she sounds like she's trying to sound like Sarah Palin

  • wow! Sometimes I don't if the actress is trying to be a Canadian Scarlett O'hara. Her accent switches from southern to the Canadian accent of pronoucing their about to aboot. And Gil, jeez....was he scottish, british, canadian or just a bad actor. I don't care if this version is truer to the books, the acting and whole production is just horrible. I'll take Sullivan's interpretation anyday. At least that movie had heart and soul.

  • Bahaha! The dialogue in this is so..... ridiculous. But I'm glad you posted it. I sometimes like watching the corny stuff, and this made me laugh!

  • they don't really seems anne and gilbert!

  • " I don't know who wrote this dialogue but it wasn't LM Montgomery!"

yeahhhhh... man this is sooo corny......why cant they ever jsut stick to the damn book?! that was really awful....

  • In the past - was once ambiguous to call US citizens Americans - but they've always called themselves that so be it. The rest of us in America can easily say NORTH. SOUTH, CENTRAL or LATIN American - but why would we if we can proudly say I'm Canadian, Costa Rican, Bermudan, Brazilian etc. esp. when travelling - sadly in M.East a bit iffy to blurt out I'm American! Once upon a time "America" referred to N &/or S America depending on your origin or "The Americas". Why did this topic come up (:o)

  • As a British Home Child, Anne certainly lucked out. Typically most Home Children were used as free labour & not properly housed, fed, nor educated & kept ostracised from local children. But like Canada's MP.JASON KENNY says "the public has limited interest in official apologies for every tragic event in our past". And I suppose we should just watch the movie without a care!

  • BAH HAHAHAHA THIS WAS HILARIOUS! - neither of them fit the characters in my mind.. and the lines.. were different...

  • OMG! Does anybody can't do an accurate version of Anne of Green Gables?

Cuz i thought Megan Follows's version was bad, but this is even worse. Serously, I expected something better from BBC

  • Sixth, I am surprised some of you have the time to comment. I assumed you would all be busy preparing to perform the Bard at Stratford in Ontario. Finally, the notion that you can say anything about anything based on a tiny excerpt is utterly idiotic if entirely human. Everyone thinks they are a critic. Well you have had your twenty-three second of fame.

  • Fifth, this was done by the BBC, the British Broadcasting Corporation. And the actors are???

  • Gee have to love some of these comments. First, the person who dramatised Anne of Avonlea is listed, as is customary, at the beginning of each episode. There were six. Second, notions of good and bad acting, well good and bad anything, are largely social and cultural. I prefer this version to the Sullivan version. Third, the actress does have red hair. Youtube is hardly known for it high quality transfers. Fourth, much of the dialogue is directly from the novels.

  • At once point the guy playing Gilbert almost sounds Irish.

  • BAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

    "Castle of Love!" BAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

"A hankering to study medicine." HAHAHAHA! Hankering!

  • Is this supposed to be some sort of joke?...

Am I missing out on something, because this is just HORRIBLE!

  • o_O

    Her hair is... brown.

    -_-

  • wow the actin is sooooooo bad n ann doesnt have the right hair n gill aint a good gill neighther is ann or man its soooooooo bad realy realy realy

  • Oh god, they just murdered that. The actors were ugly and old and im not even going to bother addressing their acting. horrible!!

  • First of all, you can't have Anne of Green Gables without red hair. Dirty blonde hair won't cut it. And they're both way too old for their rolls. And don't get me started on their acting.

  • Did these people ever read the books?!?!?!

  • She is so not a redhead.

Neither of them are at all convincing. I'll take Megan Follows and Jonathan Crombie any day.

This is one of the funniest proposals I've ever seen.

  • her hair looks redder in other scenes of this movie, but it is red.

Personally I think this movie is a lot more true to the books than the Kevin Sullivan productions. I thought the 1985 movie was great and the sequal was decent but the last two movies just got me irritated - at least in this movie they show Anne going to college etc

  • her hair is not red at all

  • This is the best proposal scene I've ever seen.

"Doctors need clean castles too, you know. Fancy being my clea- er, wife? No? Okay, no worries. Sorry for bothering you."

  • Lmfao XD And is it just me, or is Gilbert's "American" accent awful?

  • it really really is lol.. awful that is

  • it is meant to be CANADIAN

  • i know, i realized that after i wrote the comment. about the version itself though, i still don't like it. i guess that's what happens with a book like this - everyone who loves it has this fixed idea of the way it should look and sound onscreen. (and i don't think i can ever get over "and keep his castle clean")

  • Canada is in America... Alice never said it was a US accent, did she?

  • Canada isn't in America...it's in North America, but not the country of America.

  • If you want to get technical there is no country called America: the North American countries are Canada and the United States.

  • @rebwanz

    and Mexico

  • O..my..god.

I have to make the dvd inlay for this series. (Graphic Designer)

I thought to myself; let's do some research. But this is horrible!!

  • Good grief, they sound like Carrie Pipperidge and Enoch Snow, for crying out loud!!!

  • I'm shocked....what the hell was that? lol

  • This is an absolute insult to L.M. Montgomery! This is yet another remake done by BBC that is simply horrible!

If Megan Follows or Johnathan Crombie were to see this, well, I don't know what their reactions would be...but I know they wouldn't be pleased...

  • oh yes, i luv that one and i agree

  • they're so fake!! not in a bad way but in a funny way

  • what in the world is wrong with their accents...it's like they can't decide where their from!~ Good heavens!

  • I know. I love how they just keep switching. Why isn't her hair red?

  • they can't. they're british and think they should know what canadians sound like? nothing like that obviously, especially not atlantic canadians. pft.

  • hahahahahaha this is hilarious, L.M. Montgomery would be rolling in her grave, laughing to i'd wager.

  • haha i'm still laughing, i had to watch it again. hahaah it's so casual at the end. "oh sure" hahah i'm dying.

  • ahahahahaha!!! ahahaha

  • This version is ridiculous. I was laughing the whole time. It looks more like a parody than anything else.

  • exactly what I thought when I saw it. :)

  • this is good but i think i prefer megan follows

  • Hahahahahahahahah!!!!!!!

    Sorry, it's just too funny.

  • haha i'm still laughing. "we're still friends though" "oh sure" ahahhaahahahah that is hillarious.

  • you're my ladyyyyyyyyy!

  • Erm...yeahh...

I couldn't help cracking up throughout. I guess Jonathan Crombie will just have to be the definitive Gilbert for me.

You're right, this version is not LM Montgomery at all.

  • so gilbert just sways in and lie down posing like a porn star? what?!!

  • Is this dude british? what the hell is his accent?!?

  • Yup, they're both English trying to play Canadian.

  • She's Brit-Canadian according to Wikipedia.

  • when I look at Wikipedia it says she's British, born in London but to Canadian parents. All I know is that she sounds wierd in this and that guy sounds worse.

  • her hair's not supposed to be blonde...

  • Good point. Her hair is red in the rest of it. Maybe they forgot the dye that day.

  • lol

  • "A Man needs a lady to clean up house" or something like that? I can't imagine WHY she said no! (Notice hint of *SARCASM*)

  • very dull, isn´t it? Very bad proposal, much better the canadian version

  • a blonde anne that is so wrong. It does not sound very canadian either. Bad scene.

  • How awkward....

  • What are the name of the actors?

  • omg. who would want to marry him???

  • this is so fake. i so like the new ones better. Gilbert and Anne look WAY better.

  • They sound British trying to sound like whatever they think Canadians sound like. Cringe-worthy. But his acting was a bit better than hers other than his accent, don't you think?

  • I wondered what was going on with their accents.

You are right about his acting being better than hers.

  • Kim Braden (Anne) is British-Canadian.

  • This is HYSTERICAL. It's like a comedy sketch.

  • This is the worest anne of green gables move ever made.

  • weird accecnts and weird acting

  • Geez. I'd say no, too. Would write him a recommendation for med school maybe. xD

  • I don't know, is it just me, or do they just not show that much emotion? Gilbert just walks off and Anne just lays down under the tree...not very dramatic.

    Thanks for posting!

    Amanda.

  • Lovely Anne...

  • I can't imagine how she resisted the offer to keep his castle clean. ;-)

  • @InsubordinationFreak I can't imagine what possessed Gilbert to say ANY of it...
