i think its pelecanos at his best.. He is able to make what most writers portrait as a one dimensional villain to a person. And he can put you into all the characters psychie and emotional state in a way that is rare, maybe unique. And the level of realism is unique. You might think it is just his realism, but it sure as hell feels, sounds and smells real to me. Thank you, George P Pelecanos for giving me real life experiences in a hard cover.

just finished reading this book. It was a really good read that had its sad, tear jerking moments, especially in the final chapters.
