This case is definitely fishy but so far I don't know enough to conclude that it's RED RUM. For one thing it seems too elaborate as premeditated murder. Secondly what's the motive? On the other hand, the water is rather shallow (fishermen next day saw the car's rear above water) and even if the current was very strong it would have been easy to open the doors. Were Ted and the 2 guys unable to even locate the car that night? So strange =(

Called: Ko-peck- nee. Kopechne. Gargan and Marks must of advised Ted to go back to the motel and act like nothing had happened. When they figure out that that wasnt going to work, then the dictated statement. Someone questioned years ago if Mary Jo was pregnant at the time. They diffenently panicked in the aftermath. Ted " Dad, theres been an accident".

it always amazed me how he got away with it, but consider his life's work was a failure and he was the laughing stock but some how the dems or the gop never made a big deal out of it.... ever. Just goes to show they are all in bed.

I was 5 yrs old when it happened and didnt hear anything about it, I guess I was too young. but later on I learned about it (as an adult) and was totally shocked that Ted could still be a senator or run for president after what he did or failed to do. and he got off scott free when he should have spent some jail time.

i was about 12 years old when this happened and i remember my mother and grandmother having a fit about this for weeks. they seemed to think that there was a cover up because kennedy was married and perhaps had been drunk when the accident occurred. they also felt that mary jo could have possibly been saved if help had arrived sooner. sad story. good reporting mary.
