Nice!!!! Always great to see someone who appreciates a true musical genius like Mark. I hope to someday make a pilgrimage to Cambridge to visit Mark Sandman square and talk with some Morphine fans and visit some of the places Morphine played. Up here in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada no one even knows who Morphine are outside of 1/10000 people. Hopefully you'll be playing when I come down, though it may be a few years before I can find the time.....:)
Out of curiosity, do you remember what tuning (and string gauge if notable) you used for this song? Given that Sandman played a bass-like guitar, the notes in this song sound awfully low for a normal guitar.
yep, i noticed that maybe a couple of years ago but dear David, you badass drummer you, that's just another reason why i will never forget your birthday regardless if I can call you or not... i missed this year because i was on the boat gig but i did think of you. plus my "happy birthday" usually goes into bossa nova as you might remember so i am not sure...
thank you very very much! I find it rewarding to pay homage to a musical hero. I hope one way or another more people will discover Mark Sandman's music through the years. thanks again!
@lolwutnub thank you! i am glad you found Morphine. I hope you will check out Mark Sandman's other projects as well - he is brilliant everywhere. I think a must have is the "Sandbox" CD. It has 2 CDs with music and a DVD. It took my love for music (not just Morphine or Mark Sandman) to a whole new level.
@caralhovoador thanks! unfortunately i missed the 10th anniversary. life took me somewhere else in space. i did pay a tribute though, but it was nothing like this one here, just a little music and feeling grateful for knowing a bit of this man's brilliant work.
thank you! you are very kind. i can never do the original justice, but i have tried really hard not to ruin the song and to keep the feel of it and try to bring out the way the song resonates with me... i don't know what all that means or why i said it. there's magic in Mark Sandman's music and there is so much of it that even me covering a song in the street can bring some tiny bit of it. All hail Sandman! thank you!
Very good job!!! I agree with Dreambrother about the guitar. It also kinda adds it's own element as well. Looks like ya were using a green bullet mic. If so, was it run through any effects?
DUDE!Awesome work! Im listening it 3rd time. Thanks for memory of Mark.
Cheers from Poland.
