For anyone interested in the sheet music, there's an Ut Orpheus edition of Vitali's manuscript (only the violone pieces, though Diletto Musicale has published the violin pieces from the same MS). All the pieces in it are charming, but this Capritio, and the Chiacona, are particularly nice. The preface argues for it being meant for the cello, but I prefer to play it, and listen to it, on the gamba. Very nice performance, btw!
This is really wonderful music, I've heard of Regina Albanez and she is a fantastic musician.
I'd be the first to admit I know precious little about this type of music, but either I'm imagining it or I can hear similarities with Pachelbel's "Canon", is there any connection?
Esta música me hace flotar. Gracias¡¡
